Eating all of your calories/BMR
I certainly eat all of my calories as suggested by MFP. However, I checked my BMR, and it listed it as about 1500. MFP suggests that I eat 1380 cals/day to lose 1 pound a week. (This is before excercise, which I do 3 times a week. I eat those calories when I have them.) Should I be worried that I'm eating less than my BMR?…

Need your thoughts and prayers
My grandfather was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; doctors give him less than 2 months. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, Jess

Cancelled my gym membership
My husband is going back to school full time at the end of the month. Due to his class schedule, he also had to take a job with more flexible hours (and less pay.) So, since my gym membership was due to be renewed anyway, we decided it would be best to let is lapse. I'm scared that even after all this time, I will stop…

TMI: My boobs got smaller, and now I'm sad :(
I probably A. shouldn't be sharing and B. shouldn't be sad, but I finally went bra shopping this weekend--I lost a full cup size, so now I am an A. My boobs were never big before, never anything to write home about, but now I feel downright...unfeminine. My husband says he doesn't care, but I care, you know? Boobs are the…

Phase 5 and...
I'm sure a lot of you have read the extremely insightful post by Banks about our expectations for weight loss (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/9433-expectations). I am firmly entrenched in Phase 5. I have about 15 pounds left. And I just don't CARE anymore. I have stayed with my food plan for the most part,…

How tired am I?
This is what I made for dinner--it ended up resembling (sort of!) a chicken tortilla soup. Can of condensed tomato soup 1/2 can of low fat milk 1 sliced zucchini 1 oz low fat cheese, shredded 2 cooked chicken wings (bone and skin removed, obvs) It's either really weird or kinda ok. A week of 10 hour days hurts my cooking…

The big 5-0!
As of this morning, I am down 50 pounds since February! I might be a bit quieter than a lot of people on MFP but I read the boards every day and it's helped keep me going! Thanks to everyone who's offered their support!

I just made myself sick
Ok, healthy dinner--roast beef, baked potato, green beans. Have to swing by my parents house to pick up a package. Notice a bag of candy in the fridge. Would not have thought twice except.... The bag has... Whoppers. My arch-nemesis. I consume, like, 15 of the suckers. Calories? 150. As far as candy goes, probably couldn't…

What do you do about the naysayers?
So, I've lost enough weight by now that most people have noticed. I would like to lose another 20 pounds or so (somewhere between 125-130.) However, when I tell people that I still want to lose anything, they all look at me like I'm NUTS. Just to put this in perspective, I was in the obese BMI range 5 pounds ago. I am by…

A confession
I think if someone told me I could either look like Salma Hayek and never eat cheese again, or eat as much cheese as I wanted and never gain a pound, I would have some serious thinking to do.

Been waiting to toot my own horn...
I started here on Feb. 5th. In 6 months, I've lost 38 pounds, 25 inches, dropped 4 sizes, and my BMI (as of today!) is no longer in the obese range! I still have a long way to go, but I'm pretty happy. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

I'm completely off my rocker!
Look, I'll be honest: My head knows I am doing great. So why am I not happy? I am now wearing a size 10 and I'm 31 pounds lighter than 5 months ago. So why am I not happy? I've got increased energy and stamina, and I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. SO WHY AM I NOT HAPPY!!!! GRRRRRRRRR :explode: :explode: :explode: I think…

Ugh, Ugh, Ugh
Got some bad news yesterday--career/life goal related. Completely ruined the rest of my day. Did what any healthy person would do--drank a lot of tequila. Ok, I'm a lightweight, it didn't take much. But I have no motivation to go about my day. Really wanted to call out sick to work, and I would have if I didn't…

Exercise your way across America!
Yesterday afternoon, I discovered that my gym started a new program. From now until the end of August, you earn "miles" for taking a class, cardio, strength training, etc. The trail is from Boston to LA--about 3200 miles. I have to say, this totally brought out my (horrible! :blushing: ) competetive streak. I MUST WIN. I…

Hope you don't mind, but I'm gonna send a little applause my

Nausea after eating
So, for the past few weeks, I have felt sick to my stomach after eating. (To ward off the inevitable: I am not pregnant, which I have ascertained after taking a pregnancy test and getting my period last week. ) It can be anywhere from mild to moderate tummy ache. It's not after any one thing (veggies, carbs,…

Visit from the MIL
My MIL is visiting us at the beginning of July, 11 weeks from now. I have been at this for 10 weeks already, and lost 17 pounds. My weight loss is slowing down a little, but I don't think it is unreasonable to be down a total of 30 pounds by the time she visits--I would be 161 if that happens. The problem? I don't think it…

Should I go to the gym today?
Here's the scenario (apologies for the length): I decided to change up my exercise routine. Saturday, I used the treadmill for 45 minutes, and did as many 1-2 minutes spurts of jogging (5mph) as I could do. I did roughly 6 minutes of running to 39 minutes of walking. (Hey, we all have to start somewhere.) When I came home,…

Feeling mighty lame
I've lost 15 pounds and a bunch of inches. I've lost about 25% of what I want to lose. I had to buy a belt because my pants are falling off. The point is, I'm doing great. So tell me why no one is noticing!!!!!! GRRRRR :explode: I know it all has to come from within, yadda yadda. But some validation would be nice! Thanks…

Fat forever
I'm just curious---I've been overweight since I was 5 years old. I've noticed a lot of people on here who are trying to lose weight that they've had since they had a baby, since they go married, etc. Are there a lot of people out there who don't know what it's like to be thin? The reason I'm asking is because I don't have…

Thank god that's over with
Stepped on the scale this morning--179! I finally lost a pound after going 2 weeks without any weight or inches lost. (Those were a damn long 2 weeks, let me tell you.:grumble: ) Also feels really good to get into a new decade! Thanks to everyone who sent words of encouragement!! Hope you all have a great weekend! Jess

Louisville Kentucky--a non-diet question
Completely random, I'm sorry! My husband and I are hoping to buy a house within the next year. Problem? We live in the most expensive part of the country, the northeast. We can't afford anything, and probably never will. Possible solution? Relocating to a new part of the country! (Crazy? Possibly!) We both have family in…

The dreaded plateau
All I have to say is, my poor husband had to listen to my cry for 30 minutes last night because I didn't lose any weight or inches this week. 10 pounds in a month, and then nothing. I went through some older posts, and this is my plan of attack: 1. I am going to go to the gym 4x a week instead of 3. 2. Instead of 45…

Need some positive thinking!`
GRR. I hate coming to work, because it always puts me in a bad mood! Right now I want to walk down the vending machine and buy a Snickers. I've lost 10 pounds, and over 7 inches (arms, waist, and hips.) Tell me a Snickers is not worth what the jerks at work do to me!

Tips for first visit to the gym?
So, my husband and I have been looking at gyms, and we finally found one we like. It's small, well-staffed, lots of machines and not a billion people (even at busy times.) We're going tomorrow night after work for the first time. Does anyone have any suggestions about what a first workout should look like? It's been a…

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Stew
Super Easy, and way good! I've put all the canned stuff in, so you know the "worst" for the nutritional info--but that hikes up the sodium. Go with fresh and don't use the taco packet, and you'll cut the sodium by approx. 1000 mg. Sadly, I always take the easy route. :ohwell: ) 1 lb chicken (I've used thighs and breast…

A gym newbie no longer!
Thanks to everyone who offered advice on my first trip to the gym! I wasn't able to go until yesterday (car wouldn't start  ) but it went pretty well overall, I think. I totally got a runner's high after being there for 45 minutes, but my lovely hubby told me that I shouldn't do too much in a day. Am I ever glad,…

A big thank you!
Ok, I'll probably kick myself for jinxing it, but I have to say that the past week (my first) has seemed SO EASY in comparison with every other time I've tried to lose weight. I don't know what I'm doing differently, or maybe I'm finally ready for the change to happen. I also have to thank everyone on here--I make it part…

Another introduction!
Hi everyone! Just joined today. I've been fooling myself that "I don't eat too bad"--then I entered everything I ate from the day before on this site, and I nearly spit out my coffee. It ends today! I had my "enough is enough" moment yesterday, and I'm ready to commit to a new, healthy lifestyle. I'm looking to lose 40…
