This happens to the best of us ... think about what made you fall back, think about emotions that brought you there, think about how to get great emotions without food intake.
-
This is my third start. I am a bit older than you (42) but still go to University (as a professor). I know how it is to gain weight because you do not have time.
-
I recomitted two weeks ago. Good luck!

I lived in ON until two years ago. Congratulations on the weight loss! I am at 38 pant size ...
-
My holiday problem is more the difficulty to make time for exercise.
-
Guilt is a useless emotion! My daugher and I went to Mickey D's today, I logged a Big Mac and then we went for a long walk.
-
I personally do not believe in short-term goals but in long-term behavior change. My christmas goal weight loss is two pounds :-)

I am a 42 year old dad and for me, weight loss and management are the same ... I try to lose weight slowly and sustainably.
-
Good luck! I was able to make my office healthy during renovatiin when I moved - I havea standing desk, e.g.

I am a professor of theoretical physics, I assume that counts?

Whatever you do, make sure you get enough sleep. I recommend folding fitness into your routine - take the stairs, walk instead of driving etc.
-
Sure, I am just adding you. Making weight loss sustainable is my goal - I try to lose weight really slowly.
-
Guilt is a useless emotion, and there is nothing to regret. Just keep on going.
-
Whatever you eat at home, i.e., leftovers?
-
it is easy for me to say this because I enjoy cooking, but as a rule of thumb: Do not buy anything with more than 5 ingredients (if you are in North America, this may be tough - I remember even cottage cheese having a substantial ingredient list).
-
I think cheating veggies into your meals is a good thing - it is usually done with little kids but it works on adults, too. Also, mushrooms which are quite meaty are a great transition.
-
If you are like me and you eat under stress then, absolutely, get more sleep. A good way to go there is to reduce caffeine.
-
Willpower is easier said then done if you actually have a life. It is important to observe yourself under what situations you binge. Try to avoid them, which will not work completely. For those that are left, try to find another outlet than eating. Self-observation can be done by carrying a little notebook with you and…

'I am a foodie' means I like to eat well, which can be healthy. This is also why I am not going on any fast diet, rather try to lose weight slowly - it may take me two years to reach my goal, but then I expect it to stay that way. Which means here: My diet goal is 2490 kcal per day and if I can keep this on every conference…

Actually, I do not set myself any deadline, just when I go below a certain weight I do not want it to come back. The hope is that this will lead to enough lifestyle changes to stay that way.

day. But what I log here as my real weight is the median of last seven days.

Half a cup of quick-cooking oats, quarter cup of frozen berries, three-quarters cup of milk (I like mine whole and am ready to defend it) and no additional sweetener. I did this with maple syrup in the past but the berries are sweet enough and you start realizing that oats actually have some flavor.

Actually, the conference food is not that unhealthy, at least the morning coffee break typically has fruit and the pastries are not too big. And the break is already outside (it is southern California after all). I will check the local gym "privileges" (probably not quite a day pass) and what they mean by "local" - the…

Thanks for all the advice. So at this point when I not travel, I am doing okay. I am on the half pound a week schedule (because I only want to do things I can maintain for a long time) and it works - in part because classes are over (i am a professor and losing weight was the new task I added when teaching break started).…
-
I am a professor if that counts :-)
-
I know this problem. I am not a road warrior all year long but have periods of intense travel. While I am at home, I can easily shed weight slowly but when I travel, it all comes back.
-
Our weights are quite similar - I started this at 107 and want to go down to 80, I am also 6 ft 1 in, I also live in Europe (Germany that is). I try to lose weight slowly so I can maintaing things well and my main challenge is to not gain weight during business travel.
-
I have 26 kgs to go, which is about 55 lbs. And, indeed, the big journey is a bit daunting. I try to lose weight slowly and only do things I can maintain for a long time. I do a health-oriented muscle-building machine workout and I try to walk a lot.

Welcome! I also can recommend tracking a lot. It is a great eye-opener and is has some interesting feedback ("if I eat this, I will have to track it")
