  • Hi, I am over 50 and still wresting to lose weight. I've lost a lot but still have more to lose I welcome companions on this journey. Feel free to add me.
  • If you are following a Ketogenic diet, the olive oil is great! The fat content helps you stay at the required fat levels necessary to lose weight. If you are not, olive oil is still healthy fat that will benefit your body.
  • 187 lbs lost in about....20 months steady logging, carefully monitoring my diet and lots of exercise that started with being able to do only 1 minute on any given day for a total of 7 minutes in a week now I can do 500 minutes a week. It was slow and steady progress.
  • No, it's not cheating because even with the sleeve you still have to pay attention to your diet. It's a tool that is all.
  • 24 months or so...187 lbs lost
  • Hunger is difficult to cope with, I continually have to deal with hunger. Drinking water does nothing to stave off hunger for me, nor does consuming protein food items. What does work for me is to avoid hunger before it starts by grazing all day. Every morning I prepare a veggie/fruit graze box, each item is carefully…
  • Hi, I haven't done Medifast but I did Nutrimed, it's a similar program and yes you can shave some serious lbs on it. The only issue for me was that Nutrimed has a very narrow range of foods so that there was no variance in what I ate. That became a problem early on so I used the program to teach myself how to eat better…
  • Hi, I agree with the comment about a routine. It's an established routine that gets me through any day. I'll send you an invite.
  • I'm in.... I need to lose another 80 lbs and I am hopelessly stalled and in need of a serious jumpstart. :)
  • Good question! When you get some suggestions let me know. I have hit a hard plateau that I simply cannot get past. I am in the process of gradually increasing my calories before I cut back to see if it gets me back on track. I am also changing my exercise routine from aqua athletics and weight training to rowing and…
  • You could start with a general spreadsheet tracking time to bed & waking time but it will not tell you the most important bit and that is the quality of the sleep that you do get. 10 hours with restless sleep is not better than 5 hours of undisturbed rest. I found that by using sleep tracking devices I have a better…
  • Hi Everyone, my motivator is anger. Anger with myself for letting my body get this way in the first place. Anger is a strong emotion and I have used it to my advantage to catapult me forward when nothing else will. When I don't feel like exercising I remind myself not of how I will feel when I am smaller but of how I feel…
  • I think age has something to do with it the older you are the less your skin will recover....that said ample water and weights definitely help I can vouch for that. After losing 184 lbs I definitely have some sag but I think it would be much worse if I didn't have some muscle to better support the skin.
  • Hi, Don't be afraid of what people think when they see you in a swim suit. Trust me they know you are overweight. I was extremely overweight and the pool has been my saving grace. I started with moderate exercise and now can do a hard cardio session in the pool. The water supports your body and lets you move your muscles…
  • What I am going to say will probably not be popular but weight loss is a personal struggle and it can't be based on anything your spouse says or doesn't say. My spouse was definitely not supportive..his comment was at the beginning ..."Really? You are going to do this?. He didn't believe me but along the way he began to…
  • It is true that when it's all said and done it's about the number of calories you take in and how many you burn. BUT! If you are trying to seriously lose weight I would say don't waste valuable calories on anything junky. Eat healthy food that will nourish and keep you strong. I am sorry but McDonalds burgers and chocolate…
  • I don't care what people think, and i have gotten the "look who is eating healthy comments" at work at first that is but now.....its what are you eating....and I am grilled on my diet so that they can improve. So let them laugh now.....later you will be the one smiling when you are stronger and healthier.
  • Outstanding results! Thank you for posting your progress photos there is a dramatic difference that you should be proud of. You look wonderful! Keep up the great work!
  • I agree, I started with a trainer and followed my doctors advise for me before I began.
  • I have never used a nautilus machine but I use the weight machine at the gym and I have arthritis in my joints so I am stiff and I have found that over time with gradual increases I am stronger I move better and have less pain...I am still stiff but the pain is definitely less as my muscles support my joints more…
  • I think it depends on the people around you. People noticed when I had lost about 20 lbs then they began to comment very often and began calling me the incredible shrinking woman. :) It helped because I never and still don't see the loss myself.
  • No worries you will get better. I have been doing weight training for about 6 weeks and I still feel like a feather weight but it's getting easier and I always have an invigorating muscle buzz when I am done. It has however slowed down my weight loss which is disppointing but I am stronger and I walk with more confidence…
  • Absolutely men and women can be friends without sex. Most of my good friends are men, I just seem to relate better to men.
  • In the early days of my weight loss plan I did get those kind of comments. I got "Look who is eating healthy!". It hurt my feelings and made me feel angry. Anger is a strong emotion so I used it to catapult me forward and strengthen my resolve to become healthier. Now it's" wow that salad looks great...what do YOU put in…
  • I eat 5 to 6 times a day in small amounts but really I graze on veggies all day doing this keeps me from feeling hungry and I can resist temptation because I have most likely just eaten something. No mindless eating....my grazing is always good nutritional choices.
  • Hello, I won't offer too much in the way of diet , others can and will do that but I can say this .......losing weight has to be a selfish act. I don't believe you can do it for anyone else....it has to be for you.....YOU. I didn't really understand that for years I wanted to lose weight for so many reasons and the reasons…
  • I am going to agree with the suggestions here. Your doctor should be your first stop for a physical and blood work. Then maybe a multivitamin, and monitor your sleep and use MFP to take a good look at your diet. If you are reducing your calories to lose weight make sure that the calories you consume are high quality. Just…
  • Question please....do you mean full or do you mean satisfied? The two are not the same thing, over the last year I have learned that feeling full is not my goal. Full to me now means overeating, satisfied means eating an appropriate portion for my calorie needs. Once I learned and got used to not walking around full I…
  • Hello, I can't really comment on your food consumption because I don't think I can tell anyone how or what to eat. But I can tell you to hang in there weight loss is partially a waiting game. You do what you are supposed to do and slowly but surely it will come off. There is no magical way to get it off you just have to…
  • I am thinking the dramatic reduction in food might be making you feel ill. I experienced the same thing until I made a "graze" box and filled it with lots of very low calorie veggies. Sugar snap peas, jicama, green beans ( yes raw) grape tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots a little nibble here and there helped a lot. I also found…
