This thread has gotten so active--it's mahvalous! (I'm practicing my terrible New England accent in prep for heading to FL, where I'm hoping to actually have some semblance of a social life :) ) So saving most comments for the weekend when I can dive in. But did want to say, @looneycatblue to be kind to yourself. I think…

@RockinRobyn672 Thanks--used Canva, but PPT can be used for easily creating graphics, too! And I've also been singing "...off to work we go!" for half a decade. Did someone change the lyrics? Is this part of the Quiet Quitting movement? ;)

Unplanned drinks 1/1. Got so used to spending holidays alone this year (with DH) that when we got invited unexpectedly to a gathering Sun, I was caught off guard (and hadn't had either Champagne nor Eggnog all season, so of course, I had both). That was most of this week's booze, but not beating myself up. I made a graphic…

Happy New Year, Everyone! My ultimate goal this year is to reduce my desire to drink. I've read it can be done, so I'm all about experimenting and having faith in the Universe and science! Sub-goals are to ideally limit weekly drinks to 4, and not drink 2 days in a row. @missmay Thank you for keeping this beautiful effort…

Hi Old and New Friends! Missed everyone here while I took my alcohol break but I'm back and at times challenged with the moderation that I feel is right for me. I've lost my 2 dogs in the past 2 years, and then this month, Mr. Kitty, and it's a tough pill to swallow (without wine to ease the pain). They were all 16, so…

Hi My Old Friends Drinking Less! I've missed y'all <3 , but didn't really feel it was appropriate to hang around while I wasn't drinking. Today makes 1 year since my last drink, and I'd be lying if I said I don't feel like I deserve a nice glass of Rose! It's not off the table (or hidden in a chest drawer--yes I've done…

Hi Everyone--Happy November! So great to see so many new faces here! Wanted to share 3 things.* For those who don't know me, I'm on a long break (5 months). If I were able to always moderate, I wouldn't be on a break. While I feel cursed sometimes, I know I wouldn't be getting "unstuck" if I were still drinking even…

Wanted to pop in and say Happy Halloween to all my LA Peeps! Miss y'all! I'm doing well. 5 months since last drink. I set a goal to get to 108 on my 60th bd on 10/8 (get it?) and I did it. I am short, and this is the weight that stops my legs from rubbing together--true litmus test. Never could have done that drinking…

I'm on an extended (maybe forever) break. Have lost weight, improved skin, energy, and am developing interests and goals I just couldn't seem to muster when I was drinking prob 10-15 wines a week. Hi @ahoy_m8 ! There's a Less Alcohol thread if anyone is interested--very supportive and non-judgmental--everyone is trying to…

TGIF! Tried to do a speed reading to catch up and sounds like August is being enjoyed! Love the pics and giggles. Today is 3 months AF. I'm feeling...a lot of feelings, lol. But it's all good. As Dr. Phil says, Keepin it real. I've been watching a ton of motivational videos. I want to start a company and crush it. I just…

I'm so sorry about what happened, @missmay! Glad he's ok, but you need a few days of just relaxing...hope you can soon..maybe we could have a relaxing afternoon together soon too!

I Love Lurkers! Your post gave me a big smile, @spygirl2014 :-) @lmlmrn OMG...I think we should do a podcast together! I don't know what the topics are, but I think we could improv. Maybe we could start with Put a Cork in it (it will still be there tomorrow). Congrats, @MissMay - decluttering must have some difficult…

It's so great to see Newbies and Returnees here...and to see people hitting their targets. And being accountable even when not hitting them occasionally, but remember the long game. Any (more) drinks desired and not consumed is a win! 2ish months AF. I'm gonna have to find that one-way Uber ride to "dinner" to calculate…

Well I bought a glucose monitoring kit to monitor my fasting insulin and compare reactions after eating different foods. It's kinda fun (if you like playing with needles). Here's some insight from yesterday/this morning. YESTERDAY Morning (fasting w/ coffee & half & half14 hrs) - 103 After dinner of half turkey link &…

Hi Everyone...I'm doing well with my alcohol break. But breaks bring forth feelings that have been drowned. One of mine is struggling with where I'm living. There have been discussions here in previous months around retirement and partners not being on the same location page. Well, I'm not retired yet, and struggling. DH…

@Lilylady3k Beautiful (lake and lake house yard)! I'm looking forward to some nature/Zen time off at my cabin next week! @globalhiker Great to know your experience. How do you measure VO2 and what kind of scale do you have? I'm going to dig into any studies specifically for our age group on both low carb and intermittent…

Thanks, @MissMay for starting the thread and being the leader by inspiration that you are (not just here). W!hite sober girls can dance, but it's sure not pretty when I do! But WHO CARES? You might feeling like me, who was dragged (I mean companioned) by my visiting son 12 miles around Old Port and Back Bay Portland…

31 days AF. Hit my goal, with 2 pounds lost to boot! (Though the amount of peanut butter consumed this morning has somewhat negated that.) I'm researching intermittent fasting and low carbing (w/ veggies). So interesting how the science of nutrition is sooo all over the place. Medical studies supporting low carb. Medical…

Ha I just watched a Youtube short on Dr. Berg...turns out it was his son talking and sharing that Dr. Berg donates a lot of his procedes to the Church of Scientology. That's my interesting fact of the day. :-) And yes we CAN do this!
-
@lmlmrn Wow--you really know how to pound beer! :D Thanks for the photos...glad it was a blast and no hangovers either!
-
@missmay that flight is stunningly gorgeous and creative!

Finally a warm day! Which begged for a refreshing beverage. Blood Orange, Carrot & Ginger Kombucha with a splash of Cranberry Kombucha. Because there's never too much Kombucha! Right, @MissMay ?
-
@Womona Looking good! (and the boat too) ;)

@dethstar77 I hope this works for you! It did not for me, but all our brains are different. My therapist thinks that my brain receptors globbed onto my one drink after a 140 day break, and while I wasn't always looking for the next one, it was. :-)

Welcome, @bionicrooster ! You've come to the right place for support to drink less--whatever that means to you? It's often easier to take baby steps--maybe cut back to 5...then 4...toward whatever your goal is.
-
@GiveHerGrace You're doing awesome! @Lilylady3k 2 parts Fresca, 1 part blood orange bitters, 1/2 part lemon. Though I think subbing 1 part grapefruit for the lemon would kick it up a notch! I just made it up. I'm going to practice fancy citrus peeling. @MissMay So creative and I LUV the glass! Honestly for Halloween you…

This is SOOO delish and adult tasting! I'm on my second. Calling it a New Fashioned. The Old Fashioned would have me either under or dancing on top of the table instead of setting it for dinner. It's not in my fav glass cuz it's at the cabin, but this one does the trick (though I have to hold with two hands like a 2…

Great to somewhat catch up after another busy work week! @lmlmrn I'm also living vicariously--have always wanted a Thelma to do this with! Doing well here...so many little unexpected changes come with a booze break. Went for a wog and kept going. Biggest cemetery I've ever been to. Took off my shoes to "ground." Will…

I have! In fact, after seeing the Youtube video by actress Claudia Christian, I seeked (suck???) out a psychiatrist who was familiar. Not sure I gave it a proper Go, but it didn't work. (I'm not sure I 100% WANTED it to work.) Then I read that it's more effective for some blood types than others. It saved her life, so it…

@Lilylady3k Is it recommend to walk softly when carrying an alligator? :D
