Glassware
I posted one of this glass that I got in Bucerias already, it had iced coffee in it then, it looks even cooler empty:
A glass that I leave at my friend's place in case it is a drinks day (Gin Martini)
Also glasses that I gave to my same friend, some sort of Kraken and Bailey's type of thing, really neat retro glassware.
And this is me having one with one of our other friends. No A/C at her place, so we are looking kind of sweaty lol.
We find lots of painted rocks along the trails, but I thought that this one was particularly well done, and a sunbeam was hitting right on it!!!

I'm loving all the photo's from you guys keep them coming!
16 Days AF out of 26 for July!
I guess I'll get to 17 days for July as on Wednesday we are heading over to our booziest (if that isn't a word it should be) friends Summer house to spend a long weekend with them.6 -
@dawnbgethealthy - Love all your photos!!!!3

GOOD MORNING WORLD!
another AF evening and woke up to this

Tough day of work yesterday, only because of menopausal brain fog that I’ve never had before! Totally off my game, and that’s not like me. I’m usually spot on and on top of things.
Really wanted a drink for the last hours of work. It was a total coping mechanism, I know, but the six minute waiting for the craving to pass did not happen. It literally lasted hours.
Finally got home after 9:00. Two sips in I was satisfied with my drinking craving. But of course I poured a normal 5 oz glass that I had to finish- it was the good red wine we opened a few nights before. Maybe if the craving lasts that long and I give in, I should start with just half or quarter of a glass to get over that hump.
Love the pictures of the glasses, rocks, flowers. Maybe the herbs will have an extra piquant flavor from all the smoke in the air?5 -
7 days AF since...but Sunday I went out of control drinking all afternoon with my husband under our covered backyard porch watching the rain and enjoying what felt like 70 degrees. A bottle and a half of fizzy rose gone in four hours. Monday I wake up asking myself "what the heck did you do?"
AF plan for today...even though I am faced with another 11+ hr workday. I hate it and it's making me want to drink. I'm doing it for the money and nothing else so it's giving me a lot of internal turmoil. Instead will fantasize about retiring and learning to paint and have the time to get myself in amazing shape...oh and fun travels too.10 -
This advice works as well for alcohol planning as it does for food planning!
Beck Diet Solution: Tuesday Reality Check: Important reminder: It takes less willpower to stick to an eating decision that you've made ahead of time than it does to try to use willpower in the moment to make a good decision. Plan in advance!7 -
@dawnbgethealthy I can't tell you how many rocks I have painted, sealed and hid in my community. I kept it up for over a year going out each week with 2-10 rocks each time, as a matter of fact I use to keep a bag in my car for those 'odd places' LOL
@MissMay what a beautiful morning for you! Your views are spectacular!
AF last night, but it was a struggle. I had no problem while on the road with my sister yet when I returned home (mind you DH is very very supportive) I feel the need to indulge. ~~ familiar surroundings,? too comfortable with alcohol in my home?....dunno. I noticed a weight gain these past 2 mornings also but I am hoping it goes away since I was actually seeing a drop that was supper duper awesome.5 -
Corelli’s Italian red snapper dinner split with DH … along with a bottle of wine this evening.

AF tonight - not easy as cravings are here but really wanted 2 AF in a row.7
-
Ended up having a couple of drinks tonight. Back to AF tomorrow.
July totals
AF - 13
Drinks - 14
Still should easily make more AF then drink days in July.
I think August goal will be at least 20 days AF. That will be close to 2 days AF for every 1 day of drinks. Should be achievable.5 -
@MissMay
The sun and the moon at the same time! Happens so rarely. Wow!!!4 -
@Lilylady3k
Contains Sulphites? What does that mean?1 -
My usual goal, 16-20 AF for the month. This is sustainable long term for me.
Still planning on hitting my 16 - even though I have mostly been 21-23AF each month this year so far.
Sunday July 25 - AF - Next planned drinks day is Wednesday.
Monday July 26 - AF - Finally finishing watching the Olympics' opening ceremony. Great! AF beer. I like it so much that I even bought real beer for drinks days, and had one last week. Who knew? I never liked beer before.
Tuesday July 27 - AF - Felt like having a couple, but I have plans to have a few tomorrow night, so skipped tonight.
Rolling total - 15 AF days out of 27 days5 -
Great photos @dawnbgethealthy, even with a bit of humidity on you.
@ahoy_m8 I'm not familiar with the term sundog , so I don't know. If it is about that green dot I think it was just a reflection from the bright sun. It kept moving around when I was trying to snap the pic.and it was not visible with just my own eyes looking that direction.
Ugh...sulfates hate them OR maybe I love them because they completely keep me from drinking wine.
@globalhiker I can relate to deck drinking, time passes quickly out there. Back on track 👍
@lmlmrn your right it could be because your back home in your everyday environment.
AF again last night.
But I am considering having a few tonight with friends (that are only in town for today visiting )at dinner.
I am not driving and it is with girlfriends and not my husband. Neither of the girls drink daily either.
With my husband he seems pushy about having cocktails.
I want to when I WANT TO. Tonight may prove just that.

@dawnbgethealthy - Sulphites I think are a preservative that many times are filtered out. But almost all wines have sulphites.
Many people are allergic or react to sulphites (maybe that could be part of your issue?). That is why they mark it on the bottle. If the wine has sulphites and they are not filtered out then usually it means it will cause a headache even after 1-2 glasses.
But this is an excellent wine! I don't seem to react too much to the sulphites personally.3 -
@MissMay that green sun is certainly strange.
4 days of AF left to the month.....we can do this
Oh and I lost a few pounds and my husband lost 14 by eating two meals a day and no snacks in between. Strangely, our appetites diminished a lot. We've been following Dr. Eric Berg's videos on intermittent fasting on youtube. It seems to work wonders on my husband but me not so much.7 -

Ha I just watched a Youtube short on Dr. Berg...turns out it was his son talking and sharing that Dr. Berg donates a lot of his procedes to the Church of Scientology. That's my interesting fact of the day. :-)
And yes we CAN do this!5 -
Steak night. I had 3 glasses of red wine out of the 2 bottles opened for the evening.
July accountability: 11/31 days AF
Alcohol: 17 days (40 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.

2 Michelob Ultra tonight.. 100+ degrees in South Dakota calls for a couple of ice cold light beers. Back to AF tomorrow. Need the last 3 days of July AF to end the month with more AF than drinks days.
July totals
AF - 13
Drinks - 15

Yes, I read an article on MFP that says that IF works well for men and not for women.3 -

4 glasses last night but AF today! This week I'm 3 with A and 3 AF.7

Day 9 AF!! Feeling good!9

Last weekend was nice. DH has been mostly AF since our vacation, meaning he has one beer or one margarita on Saturday and AF the rest of the week. That makes it tons easier for me to moderate. Last weekend I opened a bottle of wine and, with the aid of a vacuvin to slow it's oxidation, drank it over a couple days -- 2 glasses Fri, 1 on Sat, 2 on Sun. I had it all to myself. It felt indulgent compared to his abstinence. Funny how I can recall feeling deprived drinking those exact same amounts with the only difference being I was surrounded by people drinking more. It's crazy to let extrinsic factors have such a big influence on my perception. I going to try to remind myself of that next time I find myself trying to "keep up" with others.5
-
3 AF days left to the month...and it's approaching the weekend too. Time to just focus on "keep going"...for me. I am surprised I have been able to maintain 11 hr workdays but fear my health will suffer since I am working during my normal exercise hours so I have to work on the balancing act. So hard and no clear solution in sight....
For folks who have been to South Dakota, do you recommend it for a visit/vacation?
Good luck with the car issues @dawnbgethealthy ...!

@dawnbgethealthy - What happen to your car??
@ahoy_m8 - drinking less does make be feel indulgent sometimes . Last night DH ended up opening up 3 bottles of wine (I had 3 glasses then switched to water). I felt good that I was caring for myself though I would love to have corked the bottle and saved it for another night. I went to bed at 11pm woke up at 6am and went out to walk the dog before taking mom to the doc and then driving to the camp. If I had stayed up working through more glasses there is no way I would have walked ... I would have slept in. I set my goal and did it ... feels good.
AF this evening! That makes 12 for the month so I finally hit my goal!6 -
AF today. Although it was tough not drinking while watching Matt the current Jeopardy champion. If you haven't seen him he is quite impressive, but answers "What's" before every answer. Every time he says "What's" and a person's name I scream it's "Who is!" Makes me want to drink!
I plan to have 2 more AF days to round out the month.
July totals
AF - 14
Drinks - 15
We are dealing with extreme smoke from Manitoba in the eastern part of our state. The air quality is at the dangerous level. I feel bad for anyone that has been dealing with the fires all summer.
@globalhiker I live in South Dakota when I am not in AZ. The western side of the state is beautiful. If you have never been to the state I would recommend going to the Black Hills, The Badlands, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse. I live in Sioux Falls which is the eastern part of the state. We are all prairie land east of the Missouri River. Sioux Falls is by far the largest population base in the state. We have a very nice downtown (and of course the water falls that the city is named for.) The people in South Dakota are extremely friendly.5
