3 Day AF out of 4 for August
I get a Covid test today and assuming its negative we get to fly to Spain on Friday for a last week of sun before the schools start again.
I've actually just had my second vaccine but as it was less than 2 weeks ago I still need a negative test.
Anyway happy Thursday everyone and good luck with todays goals. Not that you'll need it you all rock!11 -
8/1 - 2 wine
8/2 - AF
8/3 - AF
8/4 - AF
Planned
8/5 - AF
8/6 - TGIF Salmon Night - plan 2 glasses white wine
8/7 - Steak Night - plan 2 glasses red wine
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.9 -
I had drinks Wednesday night and let's just say it was more than my planned "2 max". I'm back on the water and drinking lots of it.
@mainelylisa your blood sugar values look pretty good to me. The stress of me trying to poke myself would probably register a 125.
I have to work on my numbers since my check up is next month and they'll get me on the blood sugar and cholesterol. The last thing I want is medication or having to go for return visits. This is motivation for me to stay on track now.

It's so great to see Newbies and Returnees here...and to see people hitting their targets. And being accountable even when not hitting them occasionally, but remember the long game. Any (more) drinks desired and not consumed is a win!
2ish months AF. I'm gonna have to find that one-way Uber ride to "dinner" to calculate the exact time, lol.
I might have to make some chipotle meatloaf. I'm craving it for some reason.7 -
4 AF / 4 days
It's been tough, especially since my DH has been out on a business trip this week, leaving me home alone with the "bottles"... 1 more AF, then he will be home and we can celebrate "a little" tomorrow night!9 -
🎶 "I will do anything for an alcohol free day, but I won't do that.🎶🎤 LOL
Now I want meatloaf for dinner to. Thanks Lisa 😆
@Stockholm_Andy we just keep running with it.
Accountability thus far:

@Lilylady3k I like that you planned for your weekend meals with a wine pairing.
As planned AF 4/4 days.7 -
"I'd lie for you (and that's the truth" darn meatloaf @Stockholm_Andy That is one song that has happened to me in the past....glad that day is gone
AF last night and it is too much trouble to go to the store to satisfy a craving tonight....
So should be/ will be AF tonight...after all my goal is only once per week and Thursday is just not my day....I think I will wait for Saturday or maybe Sunday afternoon9 -

As planned AF 4/4 days.
@LazyBlondeChef - I don't plan ahead all the time but we usually do have a nice red wine with steak once per week. In the past month steak night fell during a week day. But since DH & I both have our annual physical and blood work on Friday morning I pushed steak night out to Saturday night. And since college (I'm 60 now) I still like a drink on Friday ... though it is no longer quarter beer night from my college days!
Good luck with your goals ... planning is easier than making those last minute decisions (I'm personally discovering). Don't know why it took me so long to figure that out.9 -
August goal is at least 2 AF days for every 1 drinking day (So 21 AF and 10 drinks days max). On the drinks days I plan to have no more than 2.
AF again today. Staying on plan and feel great.

AF for the last two nights. Tonight I’m sure I’ll have wine with dinner. But only one! Someone was mentioning being such a lightweight now. Yep! It’s amazing how tolerance does alcohol goes down when we ratchet back out consumption.

AF yesterday, as planned. Running this morning, as planned. Mind says, just follow the plan and all will fall into place.
Enjoy your Friday!5 -

WOW! First time in forever I made it through my M-Th AF challenge without joining DH in the nightly very nice bottles of wine that are opened. There was even one bottle that I asked that he save since it was one of my favorites but he opened it as a 2nd bottle one night ... said he would buy me another. ARGH
I did take one sip out of his glass on Tues night to try a wine that I've not had but did not take another sip or pour myself a glass which was a win.
Feeling ready for 🩺 Annual Physical & bloodwork today

Hello All, long-time listener, first-time poster here. Going all-in AF in August as I did in January then April. This Thread is inspirational for countless lurkers on MFP, so thank you for keeping it going, for the humor, and for the reminders to be kind to ourselves.9

Hello to all today
Whew survived another night of AF so rolling 6 out of 6 AF days. Downside, DH bought some spirits today. I am going to try to avoid it this evening. Tomorrow we are taking my mother to her first movie since lock down. But they assigned you seats so that is a +.
After the movie I think we are going to have a meal out....this won't be a temptation for me since I will have my mother with us. I really don't drink when we go out, that whole drink and drive thingy LOL.
When it does happen, the scenario goes, pub 2.5 miles from house, meal and 2 beers then straight home for a nap. Don't cross go and don't take the main drag home.......
Welcome our new posters! Can't wait to learn more about your journeys! Really! To be able to read others stories, even the good-bad and the ugly.
They all make us pause, reflect, laugh, cry...want to hug, want a hug..or just plain need to vent...all the makings of a soap opera....of course we will need a running title for our saga's:
hmmm........'One Life to Live'----taken, We already are 'Bold and the Beautiful', We need to avoid 'General Hospital' and some of us are not very 'Young and Restless'. Now I have to get my creative juice going to find a perfect name. "As the liver turns" "Empties or Us" the list could get long.....
back later

Hello weekend!
DH & I were fasting for physical & bloodwork which went well today. Then we went to Pappadeaux’s for a really nice lunch! Changed my plan for dinner … moved salmon night out to next Friday since I had not yet purchased the fish. I was able to take last night’s smoked chicken and make chicken salad wraps to go with our wine for a relaxing TGIF at home!
2 glasses of wine as planned.7 -

AF again today. Considered having a drink tonight after babysitting my 4 year old and 11 month old grandbabies. Decided to read a book to wind down instead. Previously I would have done both.

Tough day today. I was going to the supermarket and really wanted to grab a bottle of wine for tonight. Managed to keep strong. One more day will make a whole week.11 -
AF 6/6 days.
Today was good because my partner and I often have a rum beverage in the pool especially on Friday. Instead I drank San Pellegrino Essenza Dark Morello Cherry & Pomegranate sparkling water. I told him he could have a drink if he wanted as it wasn't a problem for me but he said he wanted to support me so he had a San Pellegrino Sparkling Blood Orange. I appreciate it seeing as how some of you don't get that from your mate.

Hello hello and welcome @spygirl2014 . Glad we did not scare you away with our sometimes silliness, that helps us make it through tuff cravings days.
Thanks for the kind words and I know there are others on here doing dry August. I did one last Summer and it was pretty much a breeze.
@lillylady3k CONGRATS on your 4 day AF streak! Glitter for YOU! Glad your physicals and bloodwork went well.
@tmbg1 got a little chuckle out of you looking for us on the July thread (like hide and seek) YES we do make a new monthly thread each time. It has worked for years, no reason to fix an unbroken wheel.
Go get your LESS A in AUGUST. Does that make it "UGust"?
@lmlmrn WOW you pounded out 6 AF days. Now see, you just ruined another cup of my morning coffee flying all over the place with those soap opera refrences. HAHAHA
@LazyBlondeChef you are very lucky to have the support. Raising my hand, I am one who's DH is a daily drinker and won't change. Nice first week AF.
@GiveHerGrace Mich Ultra was one of my choices for drinks I would have when I was cutting back years ago. Have not thought of it in a long time. Great job of 5AF with a M.U. thrown in.
@Mellie289 we all get those rough days. But look you powered through and kept it AF. 👍
AF for me last night. 5/6
Been super busy organizing stuff to sell off, years and years and years of it. That is the bad thing of owning a huge two story garage.
I have a LOT of stuff. Time to take the plunge and shed the extra baggage.
Have a fantastic day.

@MissMay - Congrats on your success of AF evenings. You are the inspiration that helps me through these nights when my DH opens 1 or 2 bottles of wine and dips into the bourbon as well. Good news ... he did not buy any hard liquor to replace what we had in the house. AND last night after the doctor's visit for our physical ... he shared just the 1 bottle of wine with me and then stopped. 🤞
I cannot imagine a 2 story garage! Oh my. I have a hard enough time tossing the things in my 1 story garage and getting it cleaned out with all of DH's woodworking tools and my gardening stuff. I'm still purging things in our house in case DH puts the house on the market. He doesn't understand me. Thinks why not just do it all at once when we move ... that would be even more stressful making so many decisions in a short timeframe. I've been cleaning this house out for 10 years ... and now I'm down to knowing what I would take and what I would giveaway or the kids would want. BUT there are still tons of things I'm tossing or making decisions on. Gave away 3 car loads this summer. I too need to get back into it and continue my decluttering quest.5 -
I Love Lurkers! Your post gave me a big smile, @spygirl2014 :-)
@lmlmrn OMG...I think we should do a podcast together! I don't know what the topics are, but I think we could improv. Maybe we could start with Put a Cork in it (it will still be there tomorrow).
Congrats, @MissMay - decluttering must have some difficult moments, but hopefully very worth it! Because we all know...Less is More!
@Lilylady3k I've seen such progress over the months of you increasingly hitting your goals, despite temptation.
@Mellie289 Doesn't it feel great the next day after achieving a mini-goal within a maxi goal? Congrats!
@tmbg1 @MissMay stole my thunder with UGust! Glad you're here.
@GiveHerGrace Great progress! Good book? Even if it's boring - I'll take a dull book over a dull pounding headache the next morning any day!
