I can use a treadmill or an elipitcal trainer without my music ( will watch TV instead), but NO WAY can i go for a run or use the rowing machine without my music!! It helps me with tempo and makes my time go by faster. AND I don't think about the crap that happened before i got to the gym. Thats my favorite part.

i too thought it was too low, but if i do 1500 calories i end up just "maintaining". i know exactly how you feel, but you should consider how your clothes are fitting and how you feel over all. Maybe up your calories a bit and just eat healthy, measure all your food and journal every day. Drink water. You will see it happen soon.

I prefer the treadmill. I can burn up to 800 calories in an hour and 15 mins doing a climb up to 12 % incline. Start at 2 and climb up every 5 mins. I've been doing this for some time and have built up endurance quite well. I now start at 4 and climb every 3 mins and increase speed by .3 until i hit 4.5 and 12 % incline.…

thanks for starting the dialogue. Great information from everybody; i myself was surprised at how many calories i eat when i go to see a movie. Those are the days i exercise more, but i need to find another way to have a good time at the movies, seriously.

invite him to walk with you. exercise is the best antidepressant and it sounds like he might benefit from the benefits of exercise. Many people don't see walking as exercise until they start noticing the weight loss and they feel great too.

eating more "good " carbs now that i'm journaling and working out with MFP. I had a spinach wrap with turkey and veggies for lunch, so yes, limited good carbs. feels good to be healthy, right?

i really get the urge to eat sweets around 10:00 pm. I guess its just a BAD habit. just had 1Tbsp of chocolate mini morsels melted with 1 Tbsp of chopped walnuts. It cuts the craving, but i need new ideas. Jello is boring. help!
