lol, thank you although that doesn't exactly answer my question...

Wow, this support is amazing! Thank you all for your replies. You all really took the time to think and formulate an answer for me. The more involved I become in the running community, the more welcoming people are! One of the questions asked was do I like running. In short, YES!! I love it! I have made great progress and…

Thanks. I am also still losing, but I am very interested in it. Is there a reason why you don't like the ft4?

I have lost more weight from adding c25k to my calorie counting diet. When I say more, I mean more than counting calories and non-regimented exercise.

Okay, this makes sense. So do people tend to use both? Sorry, I am new at all this.

Thank you, fatdoob. I looked into those but based on what I read, fitbit is not accurate because it DOESN'T incorporate a hrm. I'm so confused! lol

Thanks, all. I am very anxious to get outdoors so that I can get myself prepared for my race. I'm mostly concerned about 1. Running outside would mean before or after work - taking time away with my son. 2. The treadmill at work was perfect because it wasn't much difficulty to get myself away from the desk. I'm worried…

Thanks, folks. I calmed myself down (aka my husband calmed me) and I weighed in before I read all suggestions. Miraculously, I lost a pound. I'm pretty content with that, and I appreciate all the advice. I think I need to make some major changes, but I am doing it all slowly and working making this a lifestyle change…

For what it's worth, while I have been overweight my whole life, I certainly haven't always been the kindest person...and I've also been hurt a lot. Guess which one keeps me up at night? The people I've hurt, not those who have hurt me. The morons did it to impress each other and a lot of people have mentioned karma. This…

haha, okay, thank you guys for setting this straight. Going forward I will pay more attention. And thanks for all the encouragement, I'm so excited about becoming a runner.

Thanks for all the responses. I have a desk job, so I think a little treadmill time will be perfect to reset, re-energize, and keep my eye on the prize. :)

I really loved reading this!

Congrats, curvyin2014! I have gained 50 lbs since my son was born, and even 50 lbs ago, my pregnancy was hard and my body struggled to take it. I had gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and terrible swelling. I was barely able to work the entire time! So I can only imagine what a pregnancy would do to me now. I know…

For those of you who use this, do you track food only with fitbit or only with mfp? Or both?

Interesting title, I want to know more!

Thanks, thedarkeststar!

Thanks, Kalie and congrats on your loss! And thanks for the request. It's nice to have friends who are dieting as well, but I think it will be beneficial to have some support who have a few pounds under their belt! (Or not under their belt anymore?)

I think I like the idea of short term goals. I have to find a way to stay focused on on a short term goal while still keeping the bigger picture in mind.
