  • I'm having the same problem and it's really annoying as I love my Garmin and I love my MFP and together they were the perfect match. Now I'm not liking MFP as much anymore.... :(
  • What are your reasons for getting a fitness tracker? I've got a Garmin Vivofit and love it. I love that you can see your results on the screen rather than have to plug it in, it takes a watch battery so it will last for about a year without having charge it every day or every few days, it's waterproof so it's OK if you…
  • This! I do however stick a little note in my planner with the weight MFP says I should be, just to see how far off I am. If it's a lot, it will kick me back on track, too.
  • I read that too and it confused me. If you can't trust something as simple as the weight that it says on the packet, why trust the other information? So nope, I don't weigh every single thing but go by what it says on the wrapper, and log everything. If that means I eat more one day, by this logic it would also mean that I…
  • I work for a Dutch organisation for people who suffer from eating disorders and I think you've already done a lot more than most employers do. I hope the therapy will help her sort things out. Eating disorders are a b*tch!
  • I used to suffer from binge eating disorder, or emotional overeating. Therapy helped me sort out why I ate, what emotions I was trying to numb by stuffing my face. Try keeping a diary of what you eat, what you think and do before you eat, how you feel after. Maybe you can figure out a pattern. It might be as simple as…
  • I have a Vivofit too and love it. It synchs perfectly, it sets realistic goals according to your previous performance and you can see all the information on the watch itself without having to log in. I've had it for a few months now and wear it 24/7. I too bought it with a chest strap and use that for my fitness. What I…
  • I had never heard of dry brushing, but looking into it. Thank you so much!
  • I've never joined any group here on MFP and I'm a little intimidated but also very tempted to just jump right in and do it. Oh what the... I'll send in my request. ;) I'd like to lose about 8-10 kg. before my birthday on Dec. 30th. That would be awesome!
  • Do you burn cals playing a game, too? ;)
  • 30 min. on a stationary bike, 14.1 km. 30 squats (I'm slowly working my way up to 50) 4 sets of 10 reps. of arm exercises using my resistance bands 'TV-walking' to get my step goal of the day in. (It's 6374 today according to my Vivofit and I'm working my way up to a steady 10,000 a day. I do get there every now and again…
  • What motivates me is reaching mini-goals that aren't always directly related to the number on the scales. And also; each new personal best earns me a love heart sticker in my planner. ;)
  • I'm on thyroid meds and have mine checked at least once a year to see if I'm still on the right amount, but I see no point in posting your numbers here on an open forum where you don't know anyone? Seems rather personal. Just a 'my thyroid's fine' or 'turns out I need thyroid meds' would suffice.
  • I watch her videos for entertainment value, because she can't be serious about all this. 30 to 50 bananas a day cannot be good for anyone. I'd like to see her 20 years from now... The video titles are always picked so that they cause controversy, and get attention. It's all so very very sad. But when it's mentioned that…
  • That's awesome! Keep on walking!
  • W0000t! Well done! Having been a member of the 300 club I know how it feels to burn that membership card and never look back again. Great stuff!
  • As I'm still reasonably unfit, it takes a while for my heartrate to drop after exercise. Should I leave my HRM going (and synching it to MFP) until it's dropped under 90's before turning it off, or should I stop it as soon as I stop my workout? I've been letting it run and not sure if that is 'fair'?
  • It depends on how long the tv-show is that I'm watching while on my stationary bike. ;) I try about 30-45 min. on the bike and then do some restistance bands and squats, making the total work out about an hour.
  • It's simple, really. Too much going in and not enough going out. I did not exercise aside from walking my inlaw's dog every now and again (once or twice a week), and was far too 'easy' when it came to food. Takeaways, too many snacks because they're yum, and just sitting on my bum a lot. Genetics and an underactive thyroid…
  • Oh wait, there may have been a translation error here. I thought you meant two squares of a bar of chocolate, not two bars.... Still think it's OK to allow yourself a treat you crave if it fits your diet.
  • If you could restrict yourself to 2 blocks a day, you can do that again. Just make sure it fits in your daily diet. As they day, a little bit of what you fancy does you good. It's better to have a bit of what you like than dealing with cravings all day and eating all the chocolate in the world when you do treat yourself.
  • Loving this thread! I work from home, and getting my steps in often means marching around when taking a break, cooking dinner or watching tv. I've got a Garmin Vivofit and it's keeping me on track. It sets goals according to your level, and will adjust if you reach those goals or not. Last week my goals were 5668, then…
  • There is people who claim the 8-cups-a-day thing is a myth, but I know that if I don't drink enough (water) a day, I get headaches. Water retention is a sign you're not drinking enough, which may sound strange, but you can read about it here:…
  • I have a Garmin Vivofit and love that you can read your steps and calories burned right from the device without having to synch it. I bought mine in a bundle with a chest strap HRM that I use for exercise, and all that in combination with the Garmin Connect software that also synchs with MFP makes it perfect for me. I love…
  • The Garmin Vivovit will give you an idea of your calorie burn during the day, based on the steps you take and info you fill in. It synchs with MFP. The chest strap I think is only to be used during exercise, not something you want to wear all day long. It's not uncomfortable to wear, but all day long, every single day…
  • Edit: deleted as I just read the OP didn't do the run. Hope your husband feels better soon!
  • That's brilliant! I'm thinking that maybe, some day, one day, mayyyybe... I'd like to post something like this too. ;)
  • How's your bloodpressure? What exercises do you do? Now that I'm losing weight, I'm starting to feel a bit dizzy sometimes. My doctor says that's because my (high) bloodpressure is dropping. And when doing stuff like squatting, I have to watch my breathing or else I get lightheaded.
  • Does your wife know about all these advantages you've been experiencing since going to the gym? Does she know that besides losing weight (which is a big deal, too!) it's helping you get stronger so you can look after your family better, making you more healthy so hopefully you will not be in the same position as your…
  • Anything is 'OK', as long as you can fit it into your diet for the day. So yes, have your salad, whether it's from McD's or anywhere else. You could even have a double cheese burger if you wanted, but you'd have to work a bit harder for it. ;)
