  • Gustergirl, I know what you mean about T.O.M. I have been suffering since I had my baby in Dec., so my runs have been difficult. I also have break thru bleeding when I run ( sorry guys : ]) . I had to have a uterine biopsy, so to make a long story short, I will be having surgery to correct this problem. I am excited at the…
  • Julie, If it makes you feel any better, my breathing has improved dramatically since I've been runnign outside!! Also, I live in the most humid region in the country. My 9 miles was easy, as far as my breathing goes, this morning. Keep running outside and it will get better if you don't have other problems. Good luck! Sonia
  • I can hardly believe that I just ran 9 miles. A milestone run!!! :drinker: My time was 1:37:13. Yay for me!!! Now............ rest!! Good day everyone!! :flowerforyou:
  • That's why it was sooooo hard!!! I hate going more than 4 or 5 on a treadmill, but with 3 kids, sometimes I have no choice. I'm like you, I do prefer outside and a change of scenery. Good luck with that >23 min 5k---- that's fast!! I love to here everyone's times!!
  • I don't see how you can do that on a treadmill, I get sooooooooooo bored on the treadmill! I have to be outside to run...i think its the change in the scenery.... [/quote] That's why it was sooooo hard!!! I hate going more than 4 or 5 on a treadmill, but with 3 kids, sometimes I have no choice. I'm like you, I do…
  • I just love this thread!!! 7 mile speedwork run this am: 1 mile warm-up 3 x 1600 in 8:52 w/ 800 jogs == 4.5 miles 1.5 mile cool-down I did it on the treadmill. It was soooo hard, but I finished!
  • Enjoyed reading everyone's posts today- laughed alot! Easy 2.5 miles this evening. HOT HOT
  • :flowerforyou: Wow, Raymond! You sure did make me feel better about my runs since it has got so hot and humid. I live in South Mississippi, so the humidity is really bad all the time. My runs have slowed down tremedously, and I have felt so defeated! Your post has lifted my spirits about running now and training for this…
  • Wow, Raymond-- 18 miles!! Happy Father's Day! Yesterday, did an easy 2 miles. Today, I was supposed to do an easy 8 miles, but my hand kept hitting the snooze button until 6am, and I was only able to do 6.5 miles in this MS heat and humidity. My body gave out. Oh well, I will try not to make that mistake again. Now, I feel…
  • Thanks, again Kechie!!!!!! 6 mile tempo run for me this am. 1 mile warm-up jog at 10:45 pace 4 miles at 9:29 pace 1 mile cool-down at 10:45 pace Total 6 miles in 78 degrees, 88% humidity, dew point 74, heat index 82 degrees! It hurt, but I did it!!!!! Great Thursday--MFP Runner's Club!!!!:flowerforyou:
  • Kechie, you made me laugh about the speed work--so true! Rest day for me- just weights. 6 mile tempo in the morning-dread the humidity:frown:
  • Wow, what a great day for everyone!!! Had an EASY 3 miles today at 11:00, but did 3.5 miles. It is so hard to go at that slow of a pace, and it's on my training schedule. I was used to doing around 8:45 -9:30 paces in my runs depending on how I felt that day. Oh well, I know its for good reason.:ohwell: I'll just follow my…
  • Great 40 minutes, Gustegirl!!! :drinker: Boy, it DOES help to run with others, because for me I tend to be competiitive enough to go faster than normal.
  • I just love reading about everyones accomplishments!!! It's so motivating!! Sherry, I just hate to hear about that pesky fracture. That is a bummer! Raymond, I am so addicted to my new Garmin 405!!! Well, I just accomplished my longest run yet. *8 MILES--- YAY! It hurt badly! It's 87% humidity, dew point is 74, and temp is…
  • Hello~! Easy run for me this morning-- 4 miles at 10:00 pace. It was supposed to be at 11:00 pace; I tried to go slow. I kept having to make myself slow down. It was easier breathing with our 75% humidity, to go slower. Knee pain was minimal at the end. I believe it's getting better!!
  • Thanks for your post yesterday, Kechie! I was wondering the same thing with my training sc hedule. Had a slow 5 mile run this morning at 51:05. It was horrible. I just don't think I will EVER get used to the heavy humidity down here in South Mississippi!! Had a little knee pain, but mostly breathing issues. Have a great…
  • 5 miles today. sharp knee pains on mile 5. Time 47:22 Went to the orthopedic doc yesterday and he pretty much told me not to run, or to slow down and cut distance, and told me not to do squats or lunges. He then preceded to tell me that 'I should see the problems that come in his office, like people who can't walk. ' THEN…
  • I also got the Garmin Forerunner 305!!! Jsut got it yesterday!!! I love it and it is so accurate!!!! Good luck runners!!!
  • Well, rest -ice-motrin helped me for my run this morning. I only did 3.5 miles, and my knee didn't bother me as bad as it did on the 7 miler Sunday. It still was not completely stable , though. I'm still going to see the doctor tomorrow. Good news. My dear hubby got me the Garmin 305 forerunner for my b-day, and I love it.…
  • That's bummers Sherry! Rest and ice/motrin for me again today. Hopefully it will help my knee, and can maybe run tomorrow???? I see an othapedic doc Wed. for my knee. The sooner, the quicker I can get back at it!!!
  • Well, I did it!! 7 miles done! Time = 69:43 Low humidity this morning. Everything felt great except for a knee pain that started at the end of mile 6. I'm worried about that now, but I am so proud of myself!
  • Thanks, Rainman!! I always like hearing what you have to say. Maybe it will get better!! I hate to hear that Sherry. Will hope the best for you! Rest day for me-- Long run tomorrow= 7 miles ( the longest for me) . I guess I should do it on the road outside to toughen me up for the humidity. Question: When you guys do your…
  • Well, I'm starting to have second thoughts about this half marathon thing. For some reason, I am getting weaker- no;t stronger with my runs. What's the deal. Is the humidity hurting me that badly? Today, I ran on the treadmill- inside- and could barely get thru the 4 miles. My time was a shotty 38:50, and I felt twice the…
  • Got in 5 miles this morning on the road. I run so much slower on the road than the treadmill. My time was 48 min. My treadmill times are usually around 45. It's also very humid here in South Mississippi. We've only lived here for 2 yrs, and i have yet to get used to the humidity-- don't think I ever will. I hurt when I…
  • I plan on doing rock and roll VA Beach on Sept. 6. Is that the one you're doing? Good Luck to ya!
  • Holy Cow, Katie!!!!:noway: You make me feel like a slug= slow! :grumble: That's a 7.5 min/mile!!! Do you realize how fast that is?
  • Don't ya love when that happens-- great job! I just completed 4 miles in 34:47 (3.1 mile mark in 26:42). It hurt a little, but I guess it's supposed to. Good day everyone!!!
  • Thanks Kechie!!! I think you must be one of the most positive people I know. No wonder your hubby treats you so well.--- So, when you run long distances, you don't stop at all.? I have been wondering if people stop at all during long runs and during the races.
  • Well, I just ran the longest run yet. 6 miles!!!! I did it in 60:21. I had to stop 4 times to stretch my legs (think I was a little dehydrated), but I did it! A little slow, but I did it!! It's also got me thinking that i don't know if I can do a half marathon. 6 miles was surely difficult. I can only hope it gets…
