  • Did W3D1 today. I'm not using the apps and looked at the workout this morning before I went out...then did three repetitions instead of two. I guess my brain doesn't function quite right at 5:30 am! Still finished it and going forward with this week should be pretty easy in comparison!
  • Finished repeat of W2D1...shin splints gone! Yea! Need some knee support, so will be stopping by the store tomorrow for that. Saw three baby bunnies on the trail; no snakes this time! Would much rather see baby bunnies than snakes!
  • Good job! That's a really great time!
  • Been sick for the past several days, so I missed two running days. Did W2D1 today...shin splints and knee pain, but I'll get that under control quickly. I completed the run...just really slowly. Good to be back out there!
  • You can also loosen the laces, take out the insoles and stuff the shoes with newspaper which will absorb the excess water. Just remove it promptly.
  • Repeat of W1D2 done! Glad that I'm repeating weeks...my knees hurt, but the run was still good. Six-year-old was cleared by doctor to run with me (no mechanical problems, she just has a bruised femur from falling at some time). Good to have her back...I missed her!
  • Repeated W1D1 today and went farther than last week. Started back to work from maternity leave so I had to haul my butt out of bed at 5:00 am. Took some pinching from my husband, but I got up and got it done. Back home now and SOOOO TIRED! I'll probably pass out at 8:00.
  • Finished W1D3 today. The runs felt good, the walks sluggish, so I just slowed my walking pace down. I had actually attempted this yesterday with my daughter, but halfway through her knee started hurting and we just walked the rest. She's not allowed to run with me again until she gets checked out by the Dr. I don't want to…
  • I also live at altitude with hills. But I *was* a runner, so it feels natural getting back into it. I'm also going to be repeating weeks and taking it slow. Keep at it...it'll come!
  • There's a program called Couch to 5K that's great for this (there is a group here on MFP). I understand that there are apps and podcasts that walk you through it, or if you're app-less the website is: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
  • Just finished W1D2. I think I'm bucking the trend to say this, but it felt easier today than D1. My six-year-old came with me again and we went a little bit farther than Monday. The years and years of running every day are slowly coming back. My stride was smoother which helped pacing and it just felt good.
  • I do drink sodas but not often. What helps is just not having it around. If it's not around, I have to make a special trip to get it and then decide if it's really worth it. I LOVE iced tea. I actually prefer it to soda. I'll make it at home and put it in a reusable water bottle if I want to take it with me to work or…
  • W1D1 today...completed! I was a runner for years and years, then got brought down by health problems. I'm getting back into it now. I took my six-year-old out with me, which was great. She's good company, I had to think about my pace with her, and I couldn't wuss out. All in all, a good workout!
  • I guess it depends if you're on a budget or not. If money's not an issue, I'd get fitted for running shoes as you'll be putting in more and more distance throughout the program. It doesn't hurt to have more than one pair of good shoes! I am getting back into running after a long, medically-induced hiatus. I used to run 2…
  • Congratulations!
  • I'm new...you can add me!
  • I'm new here, too. Just joined MFP this week. I have fibromyalgia, and my doctor recommended a gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free diet (in that order...just to prioritize if I need to cheat). It definitely helps me feel better. I just need the support to stick with it, as it's incredibly difficult to maintain when you're…
  • I've been building up my walking base for the past month and will be starting on Monday!
  • If you got your shoes a year ago, you may need new shoes. Mine tend to wear out after a year from just day-to-day use, not including exercise. I don't know if that would cause your cramping, though. My feet hurt when my shoes start to wear out.
  • New on here myself...just started yesterday. Married with three kids (including a newborn) and will be going back to work soon (high stress desk job). Weight loss going well so far...just need to stay motivated for when I'm back at work.
