  • so cool! I tried the marisota one and I was way off with my body image - going to try all the other ones now!
  • True Male Beauty! speaking as one who isn't one for looks so much, I couldn't care less if you are fat, thin, tall, short (ok short might be pushing it!) but seriously its all in the smile. If you can smile at me and that smile goes all the way to your eyes.... I'm impressed! Its lovely to be fit but its ace to be happy!
  • What an awesome question OP - and what and awesome reply! I have saved this! I love love love my curries but never cook my onions this long - this sounds like a well kept secret! now I want go home and cook!
  • I haven't lost any 'weight' for nearly six weeks - BUT I have dropped a dress size. Slowly but surely I have learnt that the scales don't really mean anything! Put it this way - I bet you look slimmer now from inch loss that you would have looked had it just been weight loss! What would you rather?
  • I get it! I put off going running for that reason alone! until one day I had finished a run! 30 mins non stop - red faced and sweaty - but I did it! I DID it! on the road - in public. no one shouted or looked! Now I run 3/4 times a week and have started to enter races. Do you know what I do? Instead of worrying what other…
  • Ha ha I am kind of messing with this post as its the sort of daft thing I used to convince myself of! But it's one of those things that still makes me laugh. Kind of like when you steal a chip//frie from someone else's plate, they always taste sooooo much better!!
  • Ha ha yeah yeah yeah! It's like having a diet coke cancels your burger cals! Ha ha
  • Thanks for this! I had the mooli wraps for lunch! for anyone else reading this they are AWESOME if you only have limited calories left as they do taste good and they are very filling!! Unfortunately i avoid bread at all costs! I cut it out for a while to see how my stomach reacted - I didnt notice a great deal of…
  • thank you! I have been able to print off the nutritional details for KFC and Burger King - so if I feel like this in future I can decide before I go so that I dont slip up!
  • Thanks for this I am here all week - there is no fridge in my hotel room so pre packing food for more than one day is not an option. I get the train here and once I am here I am stuck! I will go out with friends one night a week when I am here and I usually do extra workouts to make up for it! To be honest if I could just…
  • Thank you everyone for your answers - clearly I had already decided I was going to damn well have a burger! I think I was looking for affirmation! ;-) ..... it has told me that there is clearly soooooo much more choice in the States though for take out food! its made me really really hungry now!
  • yes but I cant reheat anything - so its got to be cold or cooked for me ;-) I think tonight a double rodeo (504 cals) no fries and two glasses of Red wine will be just fine!! ;-) tomorrow I may even venture out and sit in a restaurant by myself! :drinker:
  • Thats the problem - I am bored of the cold salad, yogurt, fruit combination. I want something I can really eat! As long as I stay within my count for the day I deserve the odd treat I think!
  • Ah I am in England - Wendy's are few and far between! I have a Burger King and a KFC - I have managed to print off nutritional guidelines for both and may be indulging in a double rodeo burger and two glasses of wine! ;-) that will leave me with a deficit of 1cal for today! Hey every calorie counts eh??
  • I should have mentioned I have no access to a kitchen so whatever I get has to be 'eat now'
  • This is a tough one but somehow I feel like I have lived this enough to know I can reply. You need to get your head out of 'diet' mode and into lifestyle mode. I have done every single diet going - and had great success at weight loss with no exercise! BUT I have said no to everything! EVERYTHING that is remotely bad for…
  • Ok I have read enough including the comments - really listen to this advice! I can say from someone who was scared of eating more to lose more - it does work. This isnt a programme - this is most definitely a change in lifestyle (one I am about to post on myself!). MFP is like a secret that those who dont have dont know…
  • Sorry - I hit reply instead of 'quote' this response is yours! ;-) I think 'take it steady' your current weight will dictate the calories you burn at rest on a day to day basis. Eating at a deficit will probably mean more food now than it will as you SLOWLY achieve your goals. As you become lighter - you will reduce your…
  • I think 'take it steady' your current weight will dictate the calories you burn at rest on a day to day basis. Eating at a deficit will probably mean more food now than it will as you SLOWLY achieve your goals. As you become lighter - you will reduce your food intake. 1200 calories at this stage may feel quite extreme to…
  • I love my FT4 Polar. I was at the same stage as you some eight weeks ago (although I cancelled my Gym membership in favour of more out doors work and invested in some weights for home and the Insanity box set), I bought a Polar HRM, and together with MFP these are now my bibles! I wore my HRM for the night whilst I slept…
  • Hope so! I kind of need someone to show me if you know what i mean! its like a virtual class - I dont like the gym for loads of reasons - but I have the kit I just need the guidance!
  • Age: 37 Height 5'5'' Weight 165lb I agree with this. I started on 1200 eating back my exercise cals - fine when I am training! on a rest day 1200 was impossible without feeling seriously deprived! I am not prepared to feel deprived I want to eat the good stuff! Deprivation is always going to lead to failure (on the whole)…
  • I love that feeling the most! when you really CBA, and you just do a bit and end up having one of the best workouts!!
  • Thank you - I am loving the not 'dieting' thing! it means no guilt when I do treat myself! I am already doing 500% more exercise than I did before so I deserve my treats!! As for limiting myself to 3 workouts per week - unfortunately I know myself well enough to know that I cannot do that! I need to make it a habit -…
  • Thank you - I know in myself I have come too far to stop now - two days rest is far too long for me I think and yesterday being completely void of energy made me feel worse - with hindsight I should have got on that bike and done 10 mins as you suggest! I have done that before telling myself only ten minutes then doing an…
  • This has been my most inspirational post to date! Having been on 'diets' for my whole adult life I gave up some 6 months ago and decided being healthy was more important. Out went the scales (metaphorically speaking - I am a woman - I always have a sneaky look) and in came the exercise! I have never been more mentally…
  • Yes on the above calculations I did - however I have since amended them and based on my day job adjusted to sedentary which allows a net of 1430 which is what I will aim for then eat my exercise cals. I prefer to do daily than on weekly average as i feel more in control! This will mean I will be eating approx 1900 on…
  • So after doing 1 weeks boot camp (residential) last month it has finally given me the bug - and FINALLY convinced me that weight loss is so much less important than monitoring my lean muscle mass. That said I am still 167lb and 5'5'' so weight loss as well as fitness is definitely key. Whilst on the bootcamp, by the…
