  • Congrats! Your story is inspiring :)
  • Fantastic article that answers a lot of questions! Thanks :) I have some changes to make to my meal plans after all the feedback here. I'm so glad to hear I don't need to be forcefeeding myself fats just for the sake of it. I would much rather switch back to lean meats!
  • Thanks all! Some days, the fats are on target (like today!) and other days its low. I won't stress about it unless I feel hungry... which has not been a problem so far
  • If you're ok with dairy, I used to make protein smoothies using cottage cheese. It sounds a little gross, but once you add in milk and frozen fruits or cocoa powder (and sweetener), it does not taste or look like cottage cheese after its been blended. Its relatively low carb (about 8g in a serving) but high protein.
  • I tracked my food carefully on MFP while following the 21DF a few months ago and my calorie count was often under 1200 until I realized it's because I wasn't always using the blue container and the teaspoons! Those fats are pretty important it seems. Make sure you get them in :)
  • I couldn't bring myself to pay for shakeology, and most days I get enough protein in that I don't need it. But when I do need a protein supplement, I really like vega one! It's one of those "super powders" too. Getting used to the taste of plant protein takes a few days, but i love that there is no soy or lactose in it.
  • These workouts are killing me! I seriously can't make it through a whole one without hitting pause
  • Vanilla protein powder is more versatile, I would get that. I sneak veggies into all my smoothies, here's one of my faves: 1 cup frozen raspberries (or mixed berries) 1 orange 1/2 cup spinach leaves 1 carrot (if your blender is strong enough to handle this) 1 tbsp honey 1 scoop protein powder water you can add seeds and…
  • I'm not a veggie fan either, they're so boring! Stir fry helps (just had two green containers of it with one yellow of rice and a red of chicken for dinner... I'm stuffed!). I also sneak veggies into a smoothie in the morning. I would much rather drink them than eat them. If you have a good blender that can handle it (I…
  • I bought it a few months back and liked it because it helped me focus on eating proper amounts of veggies, proteins, etc and not just focus on the calories. I mean, if I was tracking just calories I could eat chicken and cake all day and technically be fine, but it's not quality food. I followed the program without…
  • You wake up and eat a balanced diet like you've been doing the previous 21 days. Life will go on as normal, but with better eating habits :) I dont think anyone actually on the program is expecting their problems to be solved in 21 days. Dont be so literal!
  • I made soup in my vitamix once, I didn't think it was very good. It was hot, but not "cooked" because the heat comes from friction. The next day, I cooked the leftovers on the stove afterwards and it was really tasty. So for soup, I think using the vitamix as a blender works better than using it to actually cook soup. Love…
  • Didn't notice the responses until now, thanks! I agree 1200 is low, and I am trying to keep my intake closer to 1400... but factoring in exercise, I dont really know how to manage this unless I start smearing butter or ice cream all over my food. I eat a lot right now, it just happens to not add up to many calories. Off to…
  • Straight calorie counting doesn't help you make sure you are eating enough veggies and protein though. Those are important too. What works for one person isn't going to work for others. If you need the structure of a program (I know I do), then go for it! I'm doing the 21 day fix now. It isn't just the containers you are…
  • Wondering this too! Have you figured out anything?
  • I did Turbofire for a while and really liked it, even though I hate cardio! It's not as intense as something like Insanity or P90X, which helps
  • My diary is now public, but I'll add you! It would be great to help keep each other on track
  • Start strength training to build some muscle -- this should help. And recognize that the amount of calories you take in may not help you gain weight otherwise. I know the comments above are well meaning but as someone who had the same problem as you until I was 20, no amount of calories helped me gain weight though I tried…
  • I have this problem too! I always thought I was just weird, and there was something wrong with me. It's annoying to be the sniffly one in a yoga class :p. Glad to know I'm not alone
  • I've found that consistently eating some protein at every meal or snack helps with the hunger. Some great snacks when you do get hungry are boiled egg, piece of cheese, greek yogurt, handful of nuts... sometimes I'll even just go for a scoop of protein powder in water for a snack. Usually helps me!
  • Definitely weight. It's easier, faster and less clean up as a few have already said. I tend to weigh my liquids at times too, its way more accurate.
  • Can you have dairy? 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup of spinach and 1/2 cup raspberries makes a great smoothie!
  • I throw frozen berries and fat free greek yogurt into my vitamix. Turns out great as frozen yogurt! If you dont have a vitamix, you should be able to do the same by hand mashing your berries with a fork. Raspberries are easy to do that way.
  • You guys are fantastic! Thank you. I seriously already feel so much better after reading all of your responses, and they are very wise responses. All of you are right... it's important to not look at food as "good" and "bad", and then this will never be an issue. That's something I'm going to have to consciously work on…
  • Hi Nancy! I'm right there with you... put on quite a bit of weight because of it over the last few years and it's a huge struggle to get rid of it. I find that even after months of effort and I do manage to lose some, it tends to come back very quickly. It's very frustrating! I'm finding that eating several small meals a…

  • I stress eat too (it's my biggest problem), and these are the things that I find help me the most: 1. Don't keep "bad" stuff in the house. Others have mentioned this too, and it really is the biggest thing you can do. If it's not easy to quickly grab, you probably wont leave the house to get it. 2. Replace the comfort…
  • Thanks, I've added both of you! It helps to have encouragement from others doing the same thing, hope we can provide that for each other :). Everyone around me pretty much eats what they want haha
