Yep. And the new guidelines, which estimate that an average-sized woman needs 91 ounces and an average-sized man needs about 125 ounces, include all fluids--meaning, your water, coffee, food, etc. all count toward that total. The unrelenting emphasis on drinking a specific number of ounces of water per day is misinformed…

FYI, those guidelines include water in your food and other beverages. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/eight-glasses-water-per-day/

The Raconteurs "Many Shades of Black" One of the best ever. Adele covered it, but the original Raconteurs version is better. Love it.

Lmao. Best quote of the thread.

No, no, no. The only way is to accurately track calories in vs. calories out. We need to measure BMR and TDEE and figure out a reasonable deficit for Boogie. How can we do that if we don't have his measurements? Or if we don't know exactly how many mice he's eating a day? Magic??

This.

Hey, I read a blog post somewhere on the internet that told me to drink water all day every day, so it must be true.
-
Definitely recommend logging all mice, treats, and milk, even if the cat is just having little nibbles. Those nibbles add up! Also, try to give the cat at least its body weight in water. Does milk count as water? I'm not sure, but I do know that water is important.

I try to use uncooked most of the time. That way I know how much I am about to eat! Then find the uncooked/raw entries in the database, and you're all set.

If you're a man, please don't wear short shorts and do leg exercises that require you to lay on your back and spread your legs wide open. This happened a couple weeks ago and I.Saw.Everything. *shudder*

Hahaha, yes! :drinker:

Thanks, guys! There's definitely more to do, but I am feeling more confident than ever that I can do this without ever taking meds!

Cereal. Because a real bowl of cereal is not the same thing as a serving of cereal, at least not in my world. I would eat a giant bowl with lots of milk and it turns out a bowl of cereal was like 500 calories.
-
You can do it! I didn't want to take meds either, so I really tried to make some changes. Started walking more, and that has been the biggest change.

Awesome!

Serious reason: my mom died. Diabetes-related stroke. I don't want to follow her. My cholesterol, blood pressure, and insulin numbers aren't great, so I need to work on my health if I want to live a long life. Less-serious reason, but still a legit reason: My favorite Pixies sweatshirt is starting to get too small. I love…

LMAO. This really made my day. Now, back to our regularly scheduled food porn.

I can't help myself.... In.

My god, this thread. Mmmmmmmmm. Food porn.

Nice!

Hmm, I would go to a doctor just in case. It doesn't exactly sound like a positive change, does it? Go get it checked it! You never know.

I'm 5'4" and the lowest I can remember being was around 150 in high school. I was a little heavy but I looked good. I think it's probably more an issue of body fat percentage than weight, and my ideal would be around 20% BF. Whatever weight that might be is fine with me. At this rate, it will take years to get there! haha.…
