I work for a school district so I see it the best advise I can give you is this. Get involved talk to the principal, recess ladies, teacher etc.. Make them all aware of what is happening. I think running and exercising with your son is a great idea. Honestly it was my husband he started losing weight probably a year before me and I saw not only how good he was looking but he was happier and seemed to have more energy to go do things and I thought I want that too!

I have a similar issue, I make apple butter, apples in oatmeal, apple muffins, apple crumbles, apple sauce, apple chips in the dehydrator.I hope to get a juicer sometime to make apple juice. Hope this helps.

I look at it more as do not go over this amount, not try to eat this much. In carbs I get no where near what mfp suggests but I am near my calories.

I don't have cheat days but there are days where I am out with friends and I eat stuff I shouldn't but it's not very often. I don't log my meals those days but I do try control the portion sizes.. I realise I may go over some on those days but its still way better then the way I used to eat. Also when I am out with friends…

I'm not sure it's just the mirror I think the scale is in on it too! I've lost 16 lbs and people tell me they can tell and my clothes are looser but I don't see it. It's a conspiracy I tell you!. ;-)

the first week or two I would wake up in the middle of the night starving, I'd drink water and go back to bed. Honestly I don't have any great words of wisdom. I just suffered through it. It did eventually stop but there were a couple of rough weeks. Sorry I don't have great advice, but sounds as though others do. ;-)

I try not to have a whole day, but a meal or a snack that is not in my diet plan does happen. I just try to make sure it isn't a habit either. But if I am really y craving something I do allow myself to have it. I just make sure to have portion control, and maybe extra exercise tomorrow;-)

I've noticed my ankles also have lost weight

I don't worry if it is correct or not. I never eat back those calories. I just stick to my limits and enter my exercisers just to keep myself in line. And to make sure I am doing something everyday.
