  • Suggestion: calories only count if they sync with Fitbit.
  • It's more likely this. How are you measuring food and exercise? Do you weigh everything with a digital scale in grams, or do you eyeball and/or use cups and spoonfuls? Are you including drinks as well as food? Water is calorie free but most other drinks have calories. If you're using a Fitbit, be aware that the calorie…
  • I find this too. I read Matthew Walker's "Why we sleep" - so useful. When you exercise your body temperature and heart rate can stay raised for a couple of hours, which stops you from sleeping. Since I've been exercising earlier, it's been easier to sleep. I also didn't realise that "7-8" hours per night sleep actually…
  • Your body needs the calories to fuel your immune system. You can give yourself a total break, or you can eat healthily but not limit your calories. I really like poached egg on wholemeal, soups, breaded fish and sauteed veg, and hot spicy rice dishes when I have cold. Make sure there's plenty of veg and you'll be fine :-)
  • With respect OP, people have been taking their time to offer you genuine help, and you laughed in their face. That is far ruder than anything else anyone has said on this thread. This gentleman has expressed frustration with your attitude that I share. Constructive suggestions for fixing your weight gain issues: 1. Log…
  • Morrocan spiced vegetarian pie. Butternut squash and spinnach with spices and filo pastry. Om nom nom.
  • It does it periodically - sometimes their servers get a backlog that takes a while to clear. If disconnect and reconnect doesn't work, wait until tomorrow, try again and see.
  • Or sauce..... om nom nom.
  • Google too. I'm intrigued.
  • Totally this! Yoga and pilates were recommended to me by physios for injury prevention. Another thing - if you wear heals a lot, that will bulk up your calves. Make sure you stretch them out with some downward facing dogs even if you don't do full yoga. Wear flats occasionally too.
  • Sometimes it feels like sabotage but it's highly unlikely to be malicious. People like making other people happy. If sugary tasty crap makes you happy, people who care about you will know that and offer you some out of love. It's not the kind of love you need right now, but they want to make you happy. Sharing is also…
  • I personally would be disturbed and not eat it. But I have no scientific justification for that.
  • +1 for a stern conversation with hubby. He's being a d*ick. Not enough of a reason to divorce him on its own I would say, provided it's not part of an overall pattern of controlling behaviour. But potentially temporary banishment to the sofa if you've spoken to him before about it and he's not listened. I think you…
  • We used to have a door frame pull up bar in our kitchen. Do 2-3 in between cooking or ironing or laundry and you soon increase your strength. We can't use it in our current house as the walls are too thin but similar priciples could apply - a press up or two here and there in between chores. Run the stairs instead of…
  • Update? How's it going?
  • Though in fairness there are a couple of previous contestants who has serious health issues directly caused by biggest loser.
  • I saw a really cool time management video on youtube. Wish I could find it. The lady gave the best advice I have ever heard on the subject: There are only 24 hours in a day. You can't "make" additional time, and there is only so much multitasking and optimising you can do. Time management therefore is not about time at…
  • I find hummous&veg, baked cheese niblets (mini cheddars), yoghurt, and biltong to be better snacks for managing my appetite. Might be worthwhile looking for some more substantial snacks and eating slightly less at proper meals. But don't stress about going overthe sugar goal.
  • This made me spit out my tea! As a fellow data addict, I am really impressed you've been at this since 1996. I thought my 5 years was a long time! What else do you track? I track sleep, exercise, calories in, asthma peak flow, and recently using a cool app called clue for my lady cycle. My family mock me. I feel smug that…
  • In terms of side effects, surgery is dangerous. You're better off speaking with your doctor about that than randoms on an internet message board.
  • If you want it for you, do it. It you want it for other people, don't. If you want it to boost your self esteem, don't do it - studies suggest surgery for people with body confidence issues doesn't necessarily help, and can often make it worse. You're better off paying to see a therapist.
  • Not sure where your husband got his reviews from, because they are really popular and get 4.5* reviews on amazon and argos. If you're not the kind of person that likes those kind of stats on yourself then you won't like it, but most people I know have been really satisfied and found them to be really helpful. I have a…
  • Apologies, when I said night time, I meant before bed since that's when I go to bed and therefore I associate it with bed... I don't for one minute think the solar cycle has anything to do with fat metabolism. Your explanation makes sense, but doesn't exactly answer all of my question - could someone point me towards a…
  • That's fantastic that you're empowering your children to have control and understanding over what they eat
  • It's a great story and everything, but she was limiting herself to 1200kcal per day and going to the gym every day. 1200kcal net is ok if you're eating more than that, but it's really hard to get the nutrients you need doing under that. Going to the gym every day hugely increases the risk of injury - you need the rest day…
  • The Take 10 course is free, and you can do it as much as you want. I subscribed for a bit because I was finding it really helpful. I unsubscribed when I stopped using the premium meditations, and now am back to free, doing only the basic take 10.
