  • That's awesome! Congrats!
  • Good luck with the program. I'm on day-49 of P90X3 classic. To date, I've lost 11-lbs (223 to 212). Clothes fit a lot better, have a little more flexibility, and some improved strength. So far I'm liking it. I've done a couple rounds of P90X a couple years ago. The 30 minute workouts are a lot easier to fit in. Although I…
  • Your smile says it all. Congrats and good luck going forward.
  • I'm on day-32 of P90X3 and have lost 9lb so far. Started the program at 223 so I still have a ways to go. Didn't bother with the nutrition guide and just continued doing what I was doing with MFP.
  • If you don't have a doorway to accommodate a pullup bar, you can always use a resistance band. Provided you have somewhere to loop it through. If your boyfriend has P90X3, check out "The Challenge" workout. One of the participants is using a resistance band in place of a pullup bar. As for the P90X3 upper body workouts…
  • Agreed. I tried a sample of the chocolate, and it was just nasty tasting.

  • First off, congrats on your progress. I've done P90X, Insanity, and a P90X/Insantiy Hybrid with some good results. P90X3 sounds interesting and should be more doable given the 30 minute workouts. Although from what I understand, there is an optional warmup that would make the workouts more like 45 minutes or more. Anyway,…

  • You can always logon to the beachbody website. They have a calendar program that allows you to automatically schedule your workouts depending on what program you're doing. Logon every day and see what the calendar tells you to do. Hope that helps if you can't find the manual.

  • For a chocolate fix, I have a Weight Watchers Fudge Bar (100 cals) or Jello Sugar Free Pudding (60 cals).
  • I like the Weight Watchers Chocolate Fudge Bars. Only 100 cals and they're delicious. Jello Dark Chocolate Sugar-Free puddings are good too at 60 cals.
  • I need to practice my golf short game.
  • Congrats on finishing P90X! As everyone said, you look great! Not only the abs and back muscles, but look at that smile after all that hard work! That says it all.
  • I'm doing the P90X/Insanity Hybrid, and did Max Interval Plyo for the first time earlier today. Hell of a workout! According to my HRM I burned 735 calories during it. That said, I don't think I would ever do Insanity. Just wouldn't want to go through that day after day. I like doing the cardio a couple days per week and…
  • Showing my age, but I still dream of Jeannie....
  • Philly in da house! I'm an Eagles season ticket holder so eight weeks in the fall, hopefully combined with a couple January home playoff games, and a Super Bowl trip to N'Orleans, will consist of whatever is on tap at our tailgates. The guy who volunteers to cook usually tries to add something to the menu from the visiting…
  • Heart Rate Monitors are great for cardio exercises, but not so much for weight training exercises. For the latter they could be off by as much as 35%. I always multiply my HRM burn by 0.65 when doing weight training workouts.
  • Started working out with P90X on Feb 6th weighing 223lbs (I'm 5'11). Finished that program around the middle of May, and had lost 23lbs. Followed that up working out with P90X/Insanity Hybrid. By the end of June I had lost 30lbs. So about 5 months. Have hit a plateau since and still weight 193, but continue to workout and…
  • This! Does she like any sports? Soccer? Basketball? Swimming? Or just activities like biking or martial arts? Doesn't have to be super competitive at that age. Just something fun that she enjoys to get her exercise would be good for her.

  • Have you input your weight, birth date, and all other user info into your HRM? If so, that does indeed seem a bit high. The manufacturer should have a website to voice your concern over its accuracy.
  • Pizza! But now when I have it, it's only two slices rather than almost the entire pie...
  • PowerBlock Dumbells. For $500 you can get ones that adjust from 5-70lbs in 2.5lb increments. As performance and strength improves and money becomes available, you can expand them to 90lbs or even 125lbs if needed. Or you could spend a little less than $400 and get ones that adjust from 5-50lbs, which can expand in the…
  • I just posted this in another thread, but I'll repeat it here. Exercise burns fat and builds muscle. Take a look at the picture at the link below. It compares 5lbs of fat to 5lbs of muscle. They weigh the same, but the muscle takes up a lot less volume. So if you burn fat and build muscle, you very well may weigh the same…

  • One other thing to note about exercise - it burns fat and builds muscle. Check out the picture at the link below. It shows a picture of 5lbs of fat compared to 5 lbs of muscle. They weigh the same, but the muscle is more compact. So you may not be losing weight initially, but your body will be getting smaller. Instead of…
  • Doesn't sound like contingencyplan is trying to discourage anyone. Sounds more like he's trying to insure that the person doesn't get injured and is suggesting alternatives. If a person injures himself, especially early on during the beginning of a workout program, he is less likely to continue any type of workout. If…
  • At least you raised your child right! :) Long time Eagles fan, and season ticket holder. Toughest part of my fitness journey will be the Sunday tailgates. It will only be one day per week, right? Funny story. As Eagles fans, my family detests the Cowboys. My son plays high school football and his team attended a football…
