  • It's natural to plateau after a large weight loss. This happened to me too. Basically (as you can see) what was working reaches a point where it doesn't work. You have to either start being more rigorous (weighing food, fewer calories, and/or more exercise) or decide to take a break, at least for a while - meaning,…
  • If you are hungry, EAT. Use this as a learning experience. How are you going to manage these situations in the future?
  • I have the scosche rhythm + and it has not been accurate for me. The Polar H7 has been accurate and reliable.
  • Mine tells me I'm 20% when I know I'm more like 30%! I use the scale but don't believe it.
  • FWIW, I got a Scosche and it clearly is not as accurate as my chest strap. Since I do intervals based on HR, the Scosche wrist monitor just doesn't work for me. I had high hopes! Sure would be nice to have it on the arm.
  • I am sympathetic. I have lost 75 pounds and my body called a halt to more weight loss. Actually I am still progressing but much more slowly. I am ok with that. I am being consistent with my diet and my exercise. Changing your workout routine might help - maybe more intense for less time. Keep at it! You are on the right…
  • I have been doing HIIT with my trainer 2-3 times a week for the past year, after a lifetime of various kinds of steady state cardio. My VO2 max has increased dramatically! I believe it has also helped with fat loss. I only do steady state now on "rest" days - the others are either weights or HIIT. (I am a 60 year old…
  • Yeah, I am wondering if it's really true you are 50% - I am 5'8" (on a good day), 182, and 30% body fat. The pictures are useful, but would be good to find someone to actually measure your body composition.
  • I have had a bad knee for decades, since a ski injury. The bicycle is the best overall exercise. Swimming is fabulous. Avoid impact: running, jumping. For the last couple years, I have been working with a trainer and he has been great about working with me such that now I can do lunges and squats (carefully) where I could…
  • My trainer has had me doing HIIT for a year now, and we measure my VO2 max from time to time, and it has increased a lot, whereas steady state cardio did not make much of a difference. Amazing that such a short workout can be so effective but it is!
  • Congratulations on your weight loss! I have been plateaued about 20 pounds from where I want to be too - for about a year! Actually, the weight is still going down but very slowly! I think there are several possibilities: for some people, at some times, you just plateau and start up again after a month or so. Sometimes you…
  • Interesting to see everybody's posts! I also hated going but loved the results! I think the poses are great but I HATE the heat - was 103-105 degrees in there! Also I managed to injure my hip with one of the poses. I woukd go back but I can't face the heat!
  • I know, it's hard - I lost a bunch of weight, did fine for about a year and a half, fell off the wagon, and gained about half of it back in about 2 years. It was a big step getting back on the wagon - I think of it like I'm on one side of the groove or another, it's hard to jump from one groove to the other, but once…
  • I had this issue and with weight loss my blood sugars went back to normal. But I did cut carbs. I basically eliminated added sugar - no sweets, sodas, etc. It takes a while for the cravings to go away but you do get over it and life us good! And be very careful with rice, potatoes, bread, crackers, etc - the white carbs.…
  • I think it depends on your reaction to "cheating." Some people can have "forbidden" food, enjoy it, and stay on track. For me, it opens up cravings. There's no problem in principle in splurging occasionally. But for me, I can easily lose control. There are foods I just have to stay away from, and I can't plan to have them.…
  • I can't do cheat days - if I plan a cheat day I will obsess on it, and then allow myself to cheat more and more. It's one thing once in a blue moon to have a piece of cake, and another to plan to have a piece of cake once a month. It drives me crazy. I just have to get that stuff out of my mental landscape, or I live with…
  • I second the suggestions - it just takes time. It takes time to adjust to the portions, not eating whenever you feel like it, going without sugar and processed food, etc., etc. Unfortunately it takes time. Emphasizing the fruits and veg over the starches has helped me a lot.
  • I would say, start with getting the food right and don't beat yourself up about the exercise! It will come.
