French Toast!

Just showing the gut I lost. In the first picture, at 216 pounds, my gut is bigger than my chest, but it's reversed in the second one at 155 pounds!

I like to grill them with a low salt southwest seasoning, then slice them up into a salad with lots of vegetables and nuts.

You don't have your diary open, so it's hard to make suggestions. It was difficult at first for me, but that went away once I got the right food combinations into my food lists that didn't bust my macros.
-
Your diary isn't available for us to make suggestions to help you.

While I was losing, my cheat day was Friday after weigh-in, and only if I lost weight. Now in maintenance, I only get a cheat day if I don't gain. While you're losing, don't go over what your maintenance would be for that day though, or you go negative on your weight loss. Good luck!

^^This I would add: Misty - Johnny Mathis

My doctor told me I was pre-diabetic, and I read a really scary article about visceral fat. That did it.

It's absolutely wonderful with a good homemade spaghetti sauce on it. Which reminds me, it's time to make more sauce. BTW, It's pretty filling.

Port Townsend Scotch Ale!

I'm true carnivore; I have to have some meat every day.

I did not experience this in my journey. However, I read that if you plateau, vary your intake up and down for a few days. Supposedly, this confuses the body by breaking the routine, and weight loss will resume. Again, this isn't from practical experience, but it sounded good anyway.

You're welcome. I also shifted my breakfast to 9:00 AM, Lunch to 1:00 PM and dinner to 6:00. Medium-sized breakfast, lite lunch and pretty decent dinner. I try to put most of my protein at dinner, to help carry me til my night snack. Good luck!

I don't think this subject will ever die. Put me in the group that says you can eat whatever you want, as long as it fits into your diary. I lost 61 pounds this way, and still doing it in maintenance.

Don't fight it, accommodate it. I'm in maintenance, and I still do a Fuji apple every night around 8:30 - 9:30. Plug your evening snack into your diary first, then distribute the rest of your calories around your meals.

Don't fight it accommodate it. It's okay to have a night snack. I have one every night 8:30 - 9:30. Just log it first, then spread the remaining calories around your other meals. Try Fuji apples, good ones are sweet like candy to me.

Got rid of my clothes as I lost weight. I thought keeping them was subconsciously telling myself "It's okay, you can gain it back. You still have the clothes."
-
My experience in this journey, is that maintenance is way harder than losing. My mind is constantly trying to tell me that I'm done. It's just pure Sicilian stubbornness that keeps me in line. Anyway, just keep telling yourself that you're not done, and keep logging. That's the best way to know how much you are actually…

Another highly successful bait thread. Gotta love it!

Are there food banks close to you? I volunteer at the one in the next city, and a lot of really good food can be gotten there for free if you qualify. Maybe that will get you through your crisis. Is there a warehouse club like Costco, or something like a Wal-Mart within a reasonable driving distance? I live in a very small…

Congrats to all those success stories out there! I lost 61 pounds from Sept. 2011 - May 2012. I only used MFP. Almost three years in maintenance.
-
I too looked at your profile, and I agree with Athijade. You should be eating, at the bare minimum, 1200 calories. It wouldn't hurt you to eat two of those dinners.
-
Every Friday while I was losing, only if I lost weight. Now, it's as long as I haven't gained.
-
I originally came here to lose 61 pounds, now I'm here for maintenance.

That leaves a lot of room. I find hot cereals work for me. Try 1/2 cup (Uncooked) Bob's Red Mill 10-grain cooked with 1&1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk, splenda or stevia to sweeten it and throw some fruit in. That should get you there. Oatmeal can do it too. Another suggestion: 2 large AA eggs, 2 Jimmy Dean's turkey…

How many calories do you want to spend on breakfast?
-
It's kinda hard to give suggestions when people don't share their diary, or their stats. Things like start date, age, height, starting weight, current weight, goal weight... will help. Are you following a particular plan, doing what MFP lays out for you or something else?

I don't have a problem getting enough protein, because I am a dedicated carnivore. Every day I have some kind of meat. I like fish, beef, chicken, lamb, pork, elk and probably others that I'm forgetting to mention. Heck, today I made a moose roast for dinner!

I am a 65 year old 5'8" male. I started out at 216. My doctor suggested 160, no less than 150 pounds. I got to 155, but seem to hover around 150 - 155 in maintenance. He suggested three goals to get me there: <190, then <170, and then 160.

Don't fight it, accommodate it. Build a night snack into your plan. Log it first, then use the remaining calories for your meals. Just remember sweets are very expensive calorie-wise, so remember to be moderate. Good luck!
