3910 Oh how I miss my Newsfeed!

3888 today. I control my diabetes through diet alone. I lost seventy pounds the first year I was on MFP on a keto diet. Now I struggle to maintain on low carb. Gotta check in every day.

I'm currently at 3888 days. I control my diabetes through diet, so I need to watch my carbs especially.

I miss my friends already. MFP is an empty shell. Feeling blue...

I'm very lucky to have a Senior Center a few blocks away that really caters to senior activities. Many free programs. Also, my local Y has a free exercise program for seniors, open to non-members. Online, there is Silver Sneakers, with many exercises for non-members. If you do a search on YouTube, you'll find tons of good…

I'm 76 years old and have no cartilage in my knees, and I have spinal stenosis. I do chair squats and recumbent bike to help my knees. Chair yoga and pool walking are good exercises for overall conditioning without stress. Good luck!

I just earned my 10 year badge! I'm at 3707 days.

Yes, I lost 70 pounds in 2014 after being diagnosed with T2 diabetes. I slowly gained back nearly 30 pounds of it over a couple of years, but I'm still maintaining most of the loss. I get very little exercise due to joint problems. I was very physically active up until about ten years ago, mostly hiking and folk dancing,…

Thank you for posting this. I had hernia surgery (umbilical) last year, then gained about 20 pounds very quickly, and the repair failed. I'm trying to lose the 20 (at least) before my surgeon will operate again. I'm down about six pounds now, but lordy, it's hard. You are an inspiration!

Thank you for all your suggestions! So many things that wouldn't occur to me.

My story is the opposite of yours. I was losing weight using MFP and feeling great about it. That's when I started dating "Mr Wonderful". He's big on walking and nature, so we went on lots of great day trips in the mountains and by the sea. I was in the best shape of my life. Then he started making plans with other people.…

I eat a little bit of chocolate every day; Lake Champlain 72% cacao is awesome, as long as I stop at one square. SlimFast makes a peanut butter cup keto fat bomb that is delicious and very satisfying. I satisfy the ice cream urge with Rebel Creamery; so many great flavors. I love plain Fage greek yogurt; I mix in DaVinci…

I agree with you 100%. Tell his supervisor. You deserve a real consultation, and they need feedback so they can provide it.

People who weigh themselves daily. People who post weight losses of less than a pound.

Most of the above, plus: gum chewers, lip smackers, hair twirlers, finger fidgeters, people who always say one thing then do another, mansplainers, people who aren't involved in politics, noisy people, ignoramuses, and many, many more. Thanks for this opportunity to blow off steam. :* I think that I just lost a few pounds.

Smoked brisket and klezmer music, both provided by dear friends at their annual Memorial Day cookout. :D

Low carb is the only thing that's worked for me, bringing my weight to normal limits and reducing my A1c to 4.9, but I know it isn't good for most people. I've been on lchf for four years now and have never been healthier. Sorry there are people who think that their way is best. It happens with diets, religion, and…

I chew only xylitol gum, because my dentist says it's the only one that's good for your teeth. Too much of it causes gas and diarrhea, so it's self-limiting. Same for mints. I only get ones made with xylitol. Whole Foods and natural food stores carry them, or you can order them online.

I have diabetes and maintain my health via a ketogenic diet. To maintain a steady insulin level, I start my day with only protein and fat. I have some healthy carbs in a snack, and with supper, but the main emphasis of my diet is healthy fats. Eggs, cheese, grass fed beef early, then things like nuts, salad, green veggies,…

I love my man just the way he is!! <3

I've lost about 75 pounds in the last year without an exercise program or feeling hungry. I eat lots of healthy fats, just enough protein to maintain muscle mass, and little to no sugar and carbs. No grains or starches. http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf

Yes! Hoping more doctors will wake up and smell the healthy fats!

Been doing low carb/high fat since October 2013, with great success. No calorie counting, no obsessive exercise. My diabetes is under control without meds, and my cholesterol is within normal limits for the first time in over a decade. I grew up in Texas, so I know what THEY eat. Recently saw an article about the fattest…

I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes last October. By eating a low carb/high fat diet, I've lost over 60 pounds, and my FBG is in the normal range every day w/o meds. No calorie counting or exercise. I have several friends in the same category. We also use diabetesforum.com for lot of good ideas on dealing with diabetes.
