  • I'm heavier than I've ever been, outside of pregnancy/postnatal. Just for today: 1. Log everything I eat 2. No sugar 3. 40 grams of carbs max
  • Emily, it is a great goal. I am surprised by the unsupportive comments because there is such a huge body of research about how terrible sugar is for the body and how incredibly addictive it is. There is nothing beneficial about eating processed sugars. When we say, I can't have just a little, that sounds like loss of…
  • Personally I HATE logging my calories. You are just starting out so make sure you at least come onto the MFP website every day and read, log your exercise etc. Log when and what you can. Try to figure out what you don't like about it and see if you can get around those barriers.
  • I ask myself, why do I WANT to eat right now, when I am not hungry? It's almost always stress related. Eating is a sensory distraction then. Is there another way for me to deal with this stress? To feel and work through it rather than distract myself from it? Hmmm... I sound like the social worker that I am!
  • I struggle with the same problem. Try the slow cooker for low carb meals. My spouse and I like one called "unrolled cabbage rolls" we found online. If you search Low carb slow cooker you'll find lots of good ones. Try to have those going while you're not home and you'll be so glad when you walk into your delicious-smelling…
  • I found a recipe online for homemade chocolate syrup that is very easy and fun to make. I love a heaping spoon of that plus coffee and low- or non-fat milk. Once I kick my sugar addiction I would love eliminate the chocolate syrup. Goals!
  • OK I just joined it, thanks for the tip. I hope it is legit and not lame! Please friend me. My name on there is same as here, akshngrl.
  • I can really relate to your post. I actually crave vegetables and want to eat delicious healthy foods. But WHERE to get them when I am running around like a mad woman, 2 jobs, 3 little kids?? It's so hard! And yes, I too am a sugar addict ,no doubt about it. AND, I love fast food, it is so easy to get and tastes good to me…
  • I did Ripped in 30 for a couple of weeks, following the plan. (I would describe myself as fairly active and fit prior to doing the workout) It KILLED my knees. Killed them. As in, it took months for my knees to stop hurting. So be careful. It is so easy to be injured with these rigorous home workouts. Searching on the…
  • I had 3 in 5 years too, and my youngest is 4 now. Time to get rid of the weight once and for all right? Together we can adopt healthy habits to continue throughout our whole lives, so we can enjoy our kids, and so they can grow up eating right, exercising and knowing how to take care of their bodies! Friend me if you like…
  • Interesting post because I have found keeping some 0 calorie drinks on hand (I avoid caffeine at night, drink plenty during the day) can really help me get through when the night munchie urges hit. I get things like the 0 calorie vitamin water, cascade ice etc. when they are on sale and they always feel like a treat for me…
  • Thank you... I'm going to do their HIIT Cardio and Abs today!
  • Taking a quick look at your diary, I would strongly suggest you eat more protein. Your entries show you are regularly eating too little protein. Cutting down on carbohydrates and eating plenty of protein may do the trick for you. Try it for a week or two.
  • Right now I love that BBQ Ranch Cheeseburger. I think you can have one sandwich there in a pinch, and eat as healthy as possible the rest of the day. Just tonight I was picking my kids up from language school and happened to tell another mom that I had been at McDonald's waiting for school to get out, using their WiFi, and…
  • OK! I am committing to 240 minutes a week for the first two weeks.
  • Thank you for posting this because this is just how I feel, and I am sure many others do too after Thanksgiving. My best friend was here, I ate whatever I wanted, and I gained 3 lbs since my last weigh in. It's so hard to feel like I'm getting anywhere but as another poster said: This is a LONG TERM COMMITTMENT. The weight…
  • WOW very good, amazing, congratulations!
  • Just wanted to add that while I was doing Ripped in 30 (I think that's what it's called?) I felt like I was seeing great results. THEN my knee started to hurt so bad. I quit doing the workout but my knees continued to bother me for months.
  • OK everyone please tell me how YOU measure your waist size. I just measured right about the "lilac crest" (top of hipbone) which for me happened to also be across the belly button. I am 5'3", about 134 lbs, and my waist measurement is 36.5 inches! (almost 93 cm). Over 80 cm is considered at risk for health problems. Boo…
  • I would like to join in even though it's Nov. 8th already. Better late than never right? This will give me the motivation to get SOME kind of exercise for 30 minutes every day. So far: Today almost an hour of walking and running. Yesterday 38 minutes. Nov. 6: only 15 minutes! Nov. 5: 30ish. Thank you and please friend me,…
  • Those ridiculous flavored creamers. Watch out, here come the holiday ones. My spouse suggested I switch to nonfat milk and I have been surprised that I don't miss the flavored creamers too much. It may not be a huge calorie savings but it is a sugar savings and there is nothing at all healthy in those creamers. I do work…
  • I have been asked if I am pregnant or "congratulated" several times. I am actually within that whole "healthy bmi" range thing, so I am very lucky to have not experience the humiliating situations many of you are describing here. I just have this body type where all the weight goes to my belly (and face). Very Good to all…
