Thanks for the replies- I am logging all food. Just very very slow progress. Lost weight far more easily when younger- and less prone to gaining it. Was a normal weight for most of my adult life. Realise that scales are unlikely to be 100% accurate but found it encouraging that some of the readings were normal. Know what…

Sorry for the typos

I'm on 150 Levo but eventually persuaded my GP to test for T3. I was 0.1 above the referral level. I stopped the 800 in favour of low carb, averaged 1400 a day on non fasting days with two days a week fasting. Still lost about half a pound a week but eventually lost a stone. Plus once used to it was less hungry and…

I don't lose weight unless 800 cals OR low carb. I have an underactive thyroid and bottom of the range T3, cannot get the active hormone in the UK. Slim and ate normally before diagnosis. T3 is rarely tested and would not show up on a normal thyroid panel. Because I had a high TSH I was prescribed T4. Low T3 makes it…

I can gain 7lbs overnight. But one slip and I gain so some would be water weight. Have to either go very low carb or 800 cals to lose half a pound a week. And weight shoots back on if not really strict. Two days of maintenance cals, 1200, and back to weight I was 4 weeks ago. Very frustrating.

A friend's daughter lost weight starting every day with an egg. Bit scared of cholesterol to begin with and don't eat them everyday but an appetite suppressant for me. Due to MFP portion control for carbs. Seeing cals over a week instead of over a day. Unlearning "starvation mode" and "low fat" Still wouldn't start eating…

Have gone for higher protein, lower carbohydrate as less hungry. Lots of fruit and veg. Low fat cheese, more eggs than usual about 6 a week. Eggs first thing seem to work as an appetite suppressant other protein eg kipper less so but still good. So fattier protein first thing; lean protein later eg skinless chicken breast,…

Do you take T4 or T3? Finally had T3 tested in Oct last year and in spite of slightly below range TSH and upper range T4 had a bottom of range T3 result. I take Levothyroxine, so T4. TSH is now higher, within but bottom of range, but T3 wasn't tested. Can't be referred to an endocrinologist, who could prescribe…

Not new products but new for me! Mini Babybel Lighter cheese for portion size. Low cal, can't be bothered to cook and tasty: Heinz chicken noodle soup, Tesco vegetable chilli

The problem I would have with Slimming World is portion size for carbohydrates. Plus having always calorie counted, I find it easier. Higher protein/ lower carb seems to suit me in that I feel less hungry.
-
Possibly because I don't think about food; its just that's it, rather than planning meals
-
I'm more hungry with reduced intake than fasting. Not sure why that happens!

I had major portion distortion, especially with pasta so did start to weigh foods. Big difference.
-
I maintain on 1200 without exercise, hence the fasting.
-
Totally agree with not eating if your not hungry. 3 meals a day diet plans do not suit me at all. I'm looking at calorie intake over a week.

Not a great fan, but useful for packed lunches. Potatoes a different story!

More hungry, without a doubt. I'm fasting for two days a week and helps with hunger. Other 1200 cal days are difficult, although a eating high protein first meal helps.

Thanks for replying. Same with diet Did a lot of dance when younger, I'm 57. My exercise 4 years ago was Rosemary Connelly DVD and a walking group, 3 miles at a brisk pace. Have bursitus in my hip now , which is one of the reasons I want to lose weight Extreme fatigue and waiting on results of blood tests; have an…

Meant to say I am less hungry

Red wine Plus portion control with pasta and rice Didn't realise that calories were for them cooked Massive portion distortion! Same with cornflakes, ice cold skimmed milk, my 3 am can't sleep snack

I'm 1200 with an exercise DVD or walking. Lost 10 pounds about 3 years ago with this regime. Now trying to reduce BP as well. Feel free to add me!

Sorry didn't give stats. 5 foot 6, 13 stone, the heaviest I've ever been. Was 12 and a half stone before losing the 10 pounds. High cholesterol got it down from 8.9 to 7.9. Was normal before the Mirtazapine, now a mess.

I eventually lost some weight after Christmas 2014. A week on 1000 Kcal per day no change, a week on 800, felt ill, did lose 2 lb in weight, but the diet, I think even on 1000 kcal would be unsustainable. 1000 kcals in the 70s was the magic number for dieting, with exercise. Really struggled with my weight when I was in my…

I'm still being tested but feel much better on 100 mcg. I can exercise which would have been impossible to begin with. I'm gaining weight on 1200 cals plus some exercise cals though. My weight had stabilised at about 20 pounds overweight. So not sure what to do. I can't help but think that eating as I was was borderline…

Genetics also play a part but hypo has been proven to raise cholesterol. The good/bad cholesterol balance is important though.

Hi I was diagnosed hypothyroid in March 2013 and now take 100 mcg of Levothyroxine.I'm still being tested to find an optimal dose.I feel better than I did and am exercising which would have been difficult due to feeling exhausted and joint pain.I've been trying to lose weight since Dec 27th.Initially I lost 3 pounds but…
