  • The way I understand it is that vivofit calculates your active calorie burn, then compares that to what MFP says you should burn and it gives you calories back based of the difference between the 2. I don't have the HRM, and I don't log any walking on MFP, since that is calculated in already. I also take it off if I'm on…
  • Hey everyone. I have been on MFP for 4 years, and at one point lost 45lbs, ended up with an injury, and gained it all back and then some. I am now at my highest ever at 346lbs, and I have a very hard time losing weight. I can do everything right, and not lose any, but do everything wrong and lose 7lbs. The next week gain…
  • swimming. You can either swim laps, tread water, walk around the edge of the pool, or take an aquatics class. Great workout and isn't going to damage your new tat.
  • No one has addressed your question on eating back calories yet, at least not to what I would want if it were my question. MFP is set up to where the calorie count it gives you to achieve should allow you to lose your target amount/week WITHOUT exercise. So when you exercise, your net calorie count is lowered. You don't…
  • Tramp Stamp is the lower back tattoo's. You know, the ones guys see when "enjoying the company" of said tramp. Never heard of tats anywhere else being dubbed as such. I don't have any, but do want one. I just am too wishy washy to get one. Oh, and cheap. I can't come up with a design that incorporates all that is important…

  • NOOOOO!!!!!!! Some of us ladies prefer the hairy chests  [/quote] Lots of women like teddy bears! Your before pix look a lot like my hubby (hair and all. Didn't think it was possible, but you may have more hair!) I couldn't go to the reddit link, but congrats!
  • This ^^^ I have twin 12 year olds. One has always been very thin, the other chunkier. They walk or ride bikes to school, and we never have junk food in the house. We have told all 3 of our kids the same as above. We didn't do it right, and now struggle. They need to eat the good stuff, and remember to stay active as they…
  • Protein helps make you and keep you feeling full. Other than helping repair your muscles after exercise, this is a BIG reason they're popular. That is why I add protein powder to my smoothies. Without it, I'm hungry in an hr, with it I can make it to lunch easy peasy.
  • I don't take them for weight loss, but I do take them to ward off migraine's. There's just enough caffeine to keep them at bay, but not so much to cause them. I don't know that they helped a lot with weight loss. I'd rather drink tea. Just like everything else it may work great for some and not at all for others.
  • You've lost over double what I have, although it sounds like we started close to the same. What helps me the most when I'm feeling all whaleish, is to compare a recent pic to my starting pic. I know that I'm going to have a TON of loose skin when I reach goal, but I'm okay with that. Why? Because I'm doing this to be…
  • Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place started a crush on two hotties for me. Ryan Reynolds and Mr. Fillion!!!! I only watched Firefly because he was in it, same with Dr. Horrible, and was SO HAPPY when Castle started!! He may not he A list, but he is one of my all time faves!!! @quirkytizzy - I LOVE your profile pic! Fem Shep…
  • I agree with Shua. Start with walking. It shouldn't cause any problems this late (I had a lot of issues with bleeding after my son, although vaginal, because I was too active), but anything more would be too much risk of internal tearing like she had. I too applaud you for feeling motivated already. I was the opposite. If…
  • I can roll my tongue, so does that mean I taste more bitter? I did use the "measures cup for cup" stuff. That's what's throwing me off. I may do some half sugar half stevia mini batches to see if it'll work, but for the time being, I'll stick with sugar. I've never liked any non-sugar sweeteners. They all taste funny to…
  • Legally they can have one when they turn 13. That is when my son got his, and when my girls will get theirs. I have full access to it, know their password, etc, and have final say who is on their "friends" list. Computer access in general needs to be closely monitored due to the heap of bad stuff on the net.
  • Tea Tree Oil. Just mix a drop or two with normal doggie shampoo in your palm, and shampoo as normal, leaving it on for a minute or so before rinsing. It is a natural antiseptic, so if they've been scratching, it'll help keep away infection, will kill and repel fleas (lice too for that matter if you have kids), helps soothe…
  • @KFEFFRIES2 - Thanks for the encouragement. It is greatly appreciated! Hubbies friend didn't have time to fix the car, so to the shop it goes. The lady I drive to work is in the hospital in ICU. She had a 104 temp and was unresponsive last night. I didn't find out till I showed up to pick her up, and she never came out.…
  • So much for being regular on here again...But life tends to suck sometimes, and it happens. On the up side, I got to cheer on my hubby and daughter on their very first 5k Sunday morning. I'm so proud of them. Not the time he wanted, but way better than I could do, and better than either of us were doing a 6 months ago! My…
  • We have a Kinect. Dance Central and Dance Central 2 (3 comes out this week), Your Fitness Evolved, Kinect Sports, Kinect Sports 2, are all good ones for weight loss and they're a ton of fun. Gotta start somewhere, why not with a game?
  • So many ppl posting about being down and not logging and/or eating bad, and/or not exercising. Our cycles are a bit off! lol, I just started getting over that slump. So know it's just a bump in the road! Unfortunatly, my road is littered with potholes! I feel good this week, and I'm eating okay, but things keep going…
  • @pampered - yes, going over on vitamins is ok. I will be praying for you and your family. I will try to sum up what's been happening with me. I promise to TRY not to ramble. I have been taking a woman from church to and from work daily. She is 63, diabetic, probably around 400 lbs, and wheelchair bound since she has one…
  • Hey all! I know I've been MIA for like a month. Sorry about that. Been a rough couple weeks. More on that later, maybe. @Skinny - Your story made me cry. I love to hear about kids who over come and kids who don't beat down the one trying to do the over coming! Sounds like a great group of kids in that school! Awesome dad…
  • Absolutely. My hubby and pastor are constantly telling me how much better I look, but in my head, I'm still over 300. I have to remind myself how far I've come. I take pictures every month, and I take measurements every month or 2. Those times you're convinced that nothing is really changing, those are the things that…
  • Here is how I look at it. Skinny doesn't mean healthy. If they are eating junk all the time, they are at risk to become overweight and unhealthy just like anyone else. Junk food isn't allowed in my house. If my kids want a snack, they pick fruits or veggies, or other healthy snacks. Dinner is whatever I fix for them. If…
  • If you aren't active before, yes, you will gain some leg muscle (you are using them after all), but if you want to keep from having saggy, flabby skin, strength training is a must. We aren't talking you going and benching your body weight, just enough to tone up the muscles (which will burn more fat while at rest), and…
  • Ditto on the Eliptical and the water. ANYTHING in water is good exercise since every movement is met with resistance. Our Y has a "therapy" pool that is heated to bath water level. I go in there after workouts or if I'm hurting more than usual. I haven't ventured into yoga yet, but I know lots of ppl who swear by it, and I…
  • Depends on how the relationship ended. If it ended bad, then I would just ignore the day if you have no desire to rekindle the relationship. If it was just a parting of ways, no harsh words, I agree with peuglow.
  • http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/chinese-take-out-lemon-chicken-107254.aspx Make your own. Only 400 calories for a serving of this lemon chicken, which includes the rice, which you can substitute brown rice or even quinoa. We're having it tonight, so I can't tell you how good it is. I plan on adding chopped broccoli to…
  • http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/creamy-beef-stroganoff-54097.aspx# 350 calories and it is awesome!
  • I'm not much for words. Hence why I really wish MFP had a "LIKE" button! That's awesome!
  • In the face you look more like a leprechaun when you were heavier, hehe. But NO ONE looks better fat. Those ppl are just jealous of your awesomeness! Congrats! And your kid is adorable! Even more congrats for being a good healthy roll model for their future!
