how big a blister? I generally ignore them unless they are large, then I drain and tape them.

I had a doctor tell me I had a stress fracture. I insisted on a bone scan (as a cancer survivor it is covered by insurance easily enough) and discovered that my bones were just fine. So I am a little skeptical when the doctor tells me stuff like that now. It cost me two weeks of training but I suppose that was good to take…

I read an article by an ultra-marathon runner (I cannot remember who) but he said when he ran a 5K, he could not imagine running a 10K, upon finishing a 10K, he could not imagine a half..etc, etc etc to when he ran a 100M. After running the 100mile run, the marathon was just another long run. I have found this to be true.…

windproof underwear by Asics (if) it is bitterly cold. Otherwise, I run with just my running shorts. On long runs and ultras I smear Vaseline on that region.

I did have a heart rate monitor a long time ago. I found I didn't use the information. Now I ask myself these question before I purchase something. "what does it do?" and "is it 'actionable' information that it provides me?" I know I use the mileage and pace information but the heart rate information I don't really use. As…

Yes and I would get a book on running to start with. I used Runner's World Complete Book of Running.

I run the trails with an inexpensive and small fanny pack from Walmart and a handheld water bottle from Ultimate Direction. In the fanny I have more than enough room for a phone, keys and nutrition for 12-18 miles.

@Wendy98 Good Job!!!

Volunteer at races. It will keep you on your feet and in the fresh air as well as provide some motivation to get back out there as soon as you can!

I sit it out for a day or two. You will not lose any fitness by taking a short break and I don't believe any plan is so rigid that a few days off will throw it off.

just sit on the bench right behind him....no words just sit down right behind him and wait.

1st thing is to avoid injury. Injuries will derail your training and set you back. I don't know if your goal for a 6 minute pace is doable in that time frame but it is a goal to shoot for.

Ozark Trail 100 on Nov 7, 27:44!!

I loosely follow plans. What that means is I run how I want to run during the week and do whatever long run is set for the weekend on the particular plan that I am using. I have seen a lot of differences in plans so I don't stress over them too much. Additionally I am bad with too much structure.

Ozark Trail 100....next Saturday!!

do you have any other medical conditions? If you have diabetes.....then definitely go to the doctor!!!

Their is no pill that will provide you speed or endurance. I gained speed and endurance as I lost weight. Their is a point of diminishing returns so keep your diet and weight healthy. I do take a multi-vitamin at times to ensure I have enough of my micronutrients but I'm skeptical of the need to. Also, if you are running…
