  • You won't get extra credit as long as you have a workout enabled. I've tried a couple apps with a polar HRM and compared with the stock app and built in HRM and the results were close enough I quite using chest strap. Granted I am far from a fine tuned athlete so YMMV. I have tried pairing any headphones with my watch.
  • I'm in. I had done then original for a while but the old tech just going annoying and gave up on it. I got my 15 year on board as well hopefully it'll get here in time to get in in with the rest of you.
  • Your really not going to build muscle and lose fat at the same time, those require different kinds of calorie intake. Proper protein consumption will keep you from losing muscle as you lose fat. Whey protein is an excellent way to do that if you can't get enough through your diet.
  • Sounds like a plan. I know more or less the work I'm going to be doing it's just the calorie burn is a guestimate.
  • http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ILIE6B2/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= This is what I use and I love it. Listed price is insane, I paid $25 a couple months ago. It's just out of stock at the moment with amazon.
  • Thanks for the suggestions. I had gotten that carbs are bad thing in my head for a while, I am now well stocked in sweet and baked potatoes. I do salads sometimes but all the measuring of each ingredient just gets annoying when trying to count everything. I need to find some ideas of something to do with beans.
  • I bought the Polar H7 because it links to my iPhone and using an app will sync with MFP after each workout so I don't have to log anything.
  • Well, new plan. Tried day 2 of T25 and couldn't do it. It wasn't that the physical difficulty was to much, it was just to complicated. I couldn't hardly figure out what the heck he was doing and when I did I just wasn't coordinated enough to do it. Did five minutes or so and gave and just did my P90 cardio. Just learned of…
  • Polar H7 is perfect for what you want. I've had mine for a month or so and love it. You can get the digifit app and pay a couple bucks to add the ability to link the H7 with it. It will then automatically upload the results of your workout to MFP. You don't have to use the digifit though as the Polar app is free. I really…
  • I started this one and only made it three weeks. It's a good workout for beginners like me but it bored me to tears. It's old but the worst part is that it's only two workouts, one cardio and one strength. It's the same thing over and over again, I just couldn't take it anymore! I have switched to T25 and we'll see how…
  • I'll also vote starting with T25. I debated and went with T25 and am glad I did. It's tough and I can't imagine going to straight into Insanity with no prior fitness level.
  • Plenty of good stuff at McDonalds. Perk of the job is free food. I go there ocationally on night shift and a grilled chicken salad or the fancy wraps aren't bad at all. Just have to skip the burgers and fries.
  • I've looked through the videos of all three and have decided to start with T25 and did the first one today. It was a serious butt kicker and think I picked the right one. I was certainly beat after the workout and had to modify quite a bit. Insanity would have been way to much and the pull up requirement of P90X3 just…
  • What is a MET? Probably doesn't make a huge difference but there is no warm up or cool down there. Just 25 straight minutes of hardcore cardio. There is a cool down stretch at the end after the 25 minutes but I turn off the monitor for that and only record the cardio.
  • It was pretty intense as you can see from the average HR during the workout. My fitness level sucks IMHO. My cardio is horrid. Former pack a day smoker of 15 years now using ecigs for nine months so I don't have the lung capacity of most but it's getting better the farther away I get from when I quite but never will be…
  • Take a look at the Jaybird's. Haven't owned a pair as I've always preferred wired but everyone I've talked that has them absolutely raves about them.
  • Get fitted but for me the Nike Vomero series always worked well. Felt a bit guilty buying the brand but the shoes worked for me. Got out of running and out of shape so haven't bought a pair for a couple years.
  • Eh, thinking T25 now. Probably better bet for my out of shape butt.
  • My guess is that it's taking your mass you input and you HR on how hard it is for you to move that mass and converts that to a calorie output. Likely much much more complicated than that but that's my guess.
  • You need a HRM. Not sure which are waterproof but start looking with polar. I have an H7 and love it. The wrist bands don't monitor your heart rate and not nearly as accurate. That said, HRM's are really only good at steady state cardio. Essentially it's only going to be an educated guess, just the difference is how…
  • I want one but I'm holding out to see what Apple does. I love my HRM but for an all day device I'm holding out for now.
  • Curious here too. It ups everything but does it matter as much as your base macros?
  • I've used both a android and apple. Apple iPhones are easier for new smartphone users to use. The OS is just simpler and more intuitive to use. Android is more customizable and allows advanced things IiOS does not. But for new users or the technological challenged I think Apple is the way to go. I also believe their App…
  • For me it's lots of fish, greek yogurt and protein powder and bars. Usually a protein drink in the morning with breakfast and after my workout. Usually one protein bar a day. Combined with my diet I can usually hit the 158g goal for the day.
  • When I'm on day shift I get home around 7. Change clothes and workout first thing. Then dinner and a bit of TV. Usually in bed by ten. Up at 0430.
  • I bought a set of Bowflex 552's and really like them. Plenty of weight for my current uses.
  • Get a cheap tailors tape. By using public scales it's going to be largely meaningless unless you wear the same clothing every time.
  • I tried that ratio starting out and couldn't do it. I could not hit the calories while staying close to 20% fat, always went over. Had to up it to 25%.
  • I do a video program that is 6 days a week.
