  • technically the chemical reaction that occurs in toasting SHOULD result in fewer calories. But I can't see it being all that significant.
  • it's about as healthy as bread can be, I suppose. Nothing wrong with that.
  • I find a lot of the Splenda hate to be grossly misguided. Research has shown artificial sweeteners to cause adverse effects in mice, but only after the subject had been exposed to hundreds if not thousands of times the anticipated daily intake. So like anything, too much of it is bad for you.
  • For all of the science behind fudge, I recommend watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue2EIcmOcMk
  • Fudge is heavily dependent on the crystalline structure of sugar to give it that velvety smoothness. When it comes to using sugar as a sweetener, yes, replace it with splenda. In this case it's used more as a structural agent.
  • Being a Calgary fan, I really do dislike the 'nucks, but I can't take anything away from them now. They deserve to be where they are, best of luck. Go Boston!
  • When I have a night I know I am going to cheat, I just log it anyways. I need to know what I'm taking in so I know what I need to do to compensate later.
  • Oh dear god stay away from it. Not only are fad diets harmful, but that soup is horrid and will cause an instant gag reflex after day 3.
  • You may be eating too few calories. If you take in 1550 calories of food and burn 500, you're only leaving yourself 1050 calories to sustain yourself, that may be pushing it. As long you eat back your exercise calories you'll be fine
  • I'm exactly where you're at right now in my weight loss journey. Honestly, eat more than what you're trying to achieve. It's going to be difficult to obtain the nutrition you actually require with 1200 calories/day. Around where we are at even upping your NET intake to 1800 cals/day (MINIMUM 1500) is going to give you…

  • soak your skewers in water at least 1 hour prior to cooking to prevent burning, skewer the scallops raw onto the skewer, season (salt, pepper, garlic to taste) and cook for a couple of minutes (shellfish are easy to overcook so keep an eye on them). Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon.
  • You'll end up crapping in ways you've never crapped before if you eat anything greasy. But other than that, you'll be fine. It's no big deal.
  • best thing to do is not to worry about it and concentrate on your long-term goals. After a couple of weeks you'll never have even thought about a 3-pound difference

  • The conventional wisdom is that you need to burn 3500 calories in order to lose a pound of body fat. Be sure not to short-change yourself on your daily intake of calories as calculated by MFP or you will lose muscle, MFP has already done the math for you. From what I understand (I am not a doctor), the calories burned by…
  • cardio, cardio, cardio. It's great that you're toning that muscle underneath. But the only thing that melts body fat is cardio.
