In general, if I am running a fever or throwing up, I do not exercise. Otherwise, I go ahead and exercise. If I feel awful I tell myself I'll workout for just ten minutes. Many times I feel better once I start working out.

You should be able to keep your heartrate within a range if you are aware of it. I would stop every length or two and check your heartrate (there should be some kind of a pace clock on a wall to allow you to count your beats for 15 seconds) while you swim. Once you get the feel of your pace and heartrate, you might be able…

Talk to your doctor about your upcoming camping trip. I had a similar injury/trip experience years and years ago. They ended up putting me in a walking waterproof cast for the week I went camping instead of keeping me in a splint bc of the added support it gave me for improved mobility. Perhaps something similar could be…

I love EmergenC Electromix. It's basically an electrolyte mix without any sugars in it. I have issues with the large amount of added sugar in Gatorade and with the use of stevia that have been added to other drinks. Stevia gives me headaches and makes me insanely thirsty after consumption. This is the best electrolyte mix…

Hi, Congratulations on the birth of your little one! That is wonderful. First of all, please contact your OB to see if they can prescribe some meds for you. PPD is really rough to go through, and meds can make all the difference in helping you be the parent you wish to be, especially when your hormones are all out of whack…

Go Picnics have boxed food items that are easy to take with you on a road trip.

Good job!

Here's my advice. Slow down on your runs and just move up to the next week anyway. I didn't feel ready to move up any week back when I did C25K, but did it and ended up running better than I thought I would. You are stronger than you believe you are,

So, without seeing exactly where the wounds are located in relation to your movement, I would recommend asking your doctor to set you up with PT a few times. A good PT should be able to work with you to set up a good exercise regimen that would aid your goals and not further injure your wounds.

OP... you can use paddles to increase strength, but as a former swimmer, I advise you to go slow with implementing them. If you do not have proper stroke technique you can really mess up your shoulders. Here's my advice: 1) see if there is a Masters (adult) team in your area. The coach should be able to work with you on…

Hi! For a variety of reasons, my family started to eat plant-based whole foods in January for all of the meals we eat at home. When we are with friends or extended family we still eat some meat, but it ends up being around 1 serving per week. We feel SO MUCH healtier eating less meat every day and eating more plant based…

I broke my ankle when I was 12, and they way they casted my foot started me to develop osteoarthritis in my toes. It took a decade for it to really start to bother me. I have not other development of arthritis in my body, just in that one spot.

Go see a podiatrist, preferably one with a sports background. I had similar problems years ago. My cause of tripping was arthritis developing in the toes of one of my feet. She had me get fitted for orthotics, which helped me walk differently and not trip.

I think your best bet to make an appointment with a dietician or nutritionist through your doctor's office. They will probably be better at helping you create a meal plan that will fit your specific needs. That said, you may wish to look at some vegan food options to see if they fit your needs.

I usually make nicecream, which is a frozen banana blended in my food processor. I add whatever flavor I want to, such as peanut butter, chocolate, strawberries, etc.

I'm going to second Appetite for Reduction. It's a wonderful cookbook.

I run as long as there are no tornadoes, large hail, or damaging winds forcasted. I live in Texas so we get all three predicted with alot of our spring storms.

I'm glad your doctor cleared you to exercise. Just start slow and you should be fine.

Hi EvyShepard, Years ago I suffered from ideopathic gastroparesis for about six weeks. It was awful trying to figure out what I could and could not stand to eat. I wish you all the best with this. Mine randomly cleared up when my nerves regenerated, but I assume that is not the case for most people. Foods I could tolerate:…

Congratulations on the birth of your little one! Has your doctor cleared you to start exercising again? Most doctors recommend waiting closer to six weeks (or longer after a c section) to start exercising after giving birth. Carrying and having a baby takes a HUGE toll on the body, and starting to exercise too early could…

How old are your sons? Can they help with some of the meal planning and prep? My 7 year old can make sandwiches for lunches, wash and pick grapes, cut veggies for spaghetti, etc. My 10 year old can easily throw a soup together for dinner and make corn muffins for the side. I feel like it's important that they know how to…

Friends of ours did Blue Apron. While they enjoyed the meals, they decided to stop the service because they both were gaining weight. I think most of their meals were over 600 or 700 calories and then they added the obligatory glass of wine that occurs frequently with home cooked meals. They said most of the meals were…

Well, first of all it's really early to think about baby showers. She needs to have a positive pregnancy test, several good ob visits, and get past the "danger zone" of the first trimester (possibly longer as she is advanced maternal age) before anyone needs to think about baby showers. That said, if she is pregnant and…

edamame... microwave the bag of edamame in the pods, sprinkle with a bit of salt and chow down.

So, I think you have answered your own question without even knowing it. If you had "a couple of convos sexual in nature" with someone you are not in a relationship with, you were probably not happy within your live-in relationship prior to him snooping and getting controlling (and all of that related stuff I just skimmed…

We have a decent filtration system at our house so I feel good about drinking it out of the tap. We would go BROKE if I only drank bottled water based on the sheer amount of water I drink. I would love to get a Berkey, though.

Runner's World and Cooking Light are my two go-to magazines.

You've gotten some great advice so far. I'm wondering if maybe some days you should switch it up foodwise. Maybe eat an avocado on toast one morning for breakfast, oatmeal with fruit and nuts on top for another day, tofu scrambles a third (bc you don't like eggs). I also find that if I eat only oatmeal, I'm hungry a few…

You may wish to add some green smoothies to your daily routine for a bit. I find that when I have a green smoothie (blend greens, fruit, and a liquid) it helps me stay away from added sugar type foods (sodas, candy, etc.).

I have a question for you. Did you take measurements with a tape measure around your stomach prior to starting to lose weight? For me, I lose weight in proportion, so when I lose weight my belly still looks bigger than I would like. Yet, if I measure it with a tape measure, I can tell that I have definitely lost inches off…
