  • SHUT UP! 30 days?! Geez! I have that DVD, but I'm just no good at doing something EVERY DAY! Plus, I don't like working out at home, so I go to the gym. YOU ARE AWESOME AND AN INSPIRATION!!! Keep up the great, no outstanding, work!
  • I'm 5'4". At my heaviest, I weighed 218-220 lbs and wore a TIGHT 16. Now, at 142 lbs, I'm between a 4 and a 6, depending on the brand and style of clothing. XL to a S/XS!! So, that's 5 or 6 sizes in 80 lbs!
  • I weigh every day. That way I know when to scale it back and not let it get out of control. There is nothing wrong with weighing every day as long as you realize it IS going to fluctuate from day to day. And be happy with a 2-4 lb range. It's always nice to step on some mornings and find I've lost a little. I just throw my…
  • A few other cholesterol lowering tips from the neighborhood pharmacist :) The total number is important, but it is most important to focus on each component of your Total Cholesterol. That is HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol), and triglycerides (fatty cholesterol). HDL: You can increase your HDL high enough so…
  • 7.5 - DANG - there are a lot of hotties on here ;)
  • I'm 28 - I have just over one more year in my twenties :*( Oh well - too bad I waited until I was 27 to start looking my best. I feel like I blew my twenties away with being overweight!!! Good for you getting it done while you're younger. Your skin will thank you. Ok then - good luck to you. Feel free to add me as a friend…
  • Sounds great! I can use any encouragement I can get :) I walked quite a bit on my 8k runs too. The first one I finished just at 1 hour and then the second one I finished in about 57 minutes. So I'm hoping to do this 10 k right at an hour, like you said. I just get so bored running on the treadmill, but the weather hasn't…

  • Several things: My health insurance premiums were going to increase if I didn't get my BMI under 30. My fasting blood glucose was 100 (which is boarderline pre-diabetes) - I'm only 28 (27 then). My son - he's just turned two and I wanted to be able to do fun things with him without huffing and puffing just to barely keep…
  • One more vote for Old Navy from me :) Athleta and Old Navy are both owned by the same parent company, so I figure for a lot less, Old Navy's work out clothes can't be too bad!
  • You can add me :) I'm a working mom as well. I have a 2 year old son. My husband is a stay at home dad. I started with my weight loss last February because I wanted to be a healthy example for my son and be able to do fun things with him during those precious hours I'm off work with him!
  • Hi there! I weigh myself EVERY day (morning and night). A lot of people say not too or you get discouraged, but I don't find that to be the case for me. It helps me stay on track. That being said... from day to day, your weight will fluctuate - even up while you're losing. There is a lot going on. Possible water retention…
  • Thanks for the inside information. I guess if I go in for a consult, it can't hurt anything. In your experience, do any insurance companies ever cover for body contouring? I might just have to win the lottery or something to be able to afford it (or at least a large scratch off!)
  • It is all about your shape and muscles, not so much the number on the scale. I'm 5' 4" and pear shaped (smaller midsection, but large hips and legs) Between 200 - 120, I wore a size 16 I skipped size 14 during my weight loss (I used a belt to hold up my size 16s until I could squeeze into a 12) I wore a 12 between 170-190…
  • You may already have tried this, but before you ride, your source of carbs should have some fat too because fat slows down the metabolism of the carbs. So peanut butter, milk, etc are good for that. Another thought: is it possible for you to try riding a different time of day. Your basel insulin may fluctuate at different…
  • NSV = non scale victory Example: Going from a size 14 to size 10 would be an NSV
  • I was pressed for time on the way in to work, so I stopped at... Burger King - Ham & Egg Breakfast Muffin (it is one of the only fast food breakfast items I've found that isn't too bad for calories and carbs)
  • I have lost 50 lbs in 6 months with the help of medical weight loss program, lots of exercise and dedication.
  • If I were you, I'd manually set your calorie goal to 1300-1400 because you want to get your 1200. Watch your carbs more than sugar. Keep those to less than 120-140. While fruit is good, because of the sugar content, look for fruits with more fiber (apple with peeling vs. Banana). Foods with more fiber help you stay full…
  • If I sling my hand too hard, my rings will fall off. I'm nervous about getting them re-sized though because I'm afraid the diamonds may fall out if the band size is altered. Also, with the price of gold, I don't want some unscrupulous jeweler stealing any of the gold off my ring.. but those are my hang ups ;)
  • That has been the most difficult category of food to cut back on. It has a lot of carbs and calories. But, I've recently discovered almond milk (40 cal for unsweetened vs. 150 cal for whole milk). That has helped. I love blue diamond almond milk! I still have ice cream though. It does make people who lack lactase sick…
  • Mexican food (I eat taco salads though and little or no shell), Chocolate, ice cream. I budget my calories for these items. Honestly, I haven't totally written off anything (except chick fil a and other fast food milkshakes). I just modify or eat less of things that I love and eat them far less frequently! If I make…
  • I try to have about 180-220 cal for breakfast, 100 cal for a snack, 400 cal for lunch, 100 cal for afternoon snack and 400 cal for dinner. I'll friend you and you can see my diary. I just increased to 1400 cal, but I haven't been too good at getting up to 1400. I'm also not the best with snacks :/ -Lauren
  • I log it as dancing, aerobic, modern twist under the cardio category.
  • As cold as possible. I drink a few a week
  • I have some family and friends that comment like that. Implying they don't think i'm eating enough or getting adequate nutrition. Probably because I've dropped 50 lbs in 5 months. They seem to think I have an eating disorder if I mention I still have 20-25 lbs to go. I really don't think 130-135 is unreasonable for someone…
  • It was hard for me to find a good picture of me standing by myself! I am glad I hadn't deleted this "test" picture! Like you, I hid from cameras or was the one BEHIND the camera!
