  • Your Bod Pod will have very little to do with what you do in the gym and more to do with what you put in your mouth. Pancakes, all processed foods like bread of any kind, Tutti Frutti - Cookies N Cream Lowfat Frozen Yogurt , 1.33 cup, all foods with processed SUGAR. You can get to any number you want granted you are…
  • I don't know if MM is bad for you but it is high and sugar and fat per gram...these two components I don't need from a protein shake. For 200 calories of MM you get 10 carbs, 6 sugars and only 30g of protein. What I want from a protein shake are high grams of protein per scoop, low sugar, low carbs and high quantities of…
  • To answer your question "if my HRM is picking up extra beats is the calorie burn that it shows accurate?" It's accurate if your heart is actually beating as fast as the monitor claims. KiloCals are units of energy... the more times your heart beats the more energy you use. There are other factors but if your heart is…
  • Thanks for all your words of encouragement. It's a bitter sweet feeling when nothing in your closet fits anymore. I was in high school when I could fit a size 32 in jeans
  • Exactly, I tell people all the time, "it's going to take hard work and time." The transformation of my body was not an overnight fix. My wife was a big motivator because she transformed with me. There were days when I didn't feel like exercising but she put on a pair of adidas booty shorts and said let's go. She's a P90X…
  • Thanks everyone! The wifey also read all the comments and was very touched. I'm going to let her decide what she wants to do, but I do have one MANDATORY request
  • Tomorrow starts week 13 of the P90X program for me. At 45, I'm in the best shape of my life. Unfortunately, unless you know someone who has the DVD set it's going to be hard. Both programs are over 4GB to download and you just can't email them to a friend unless you have file sharing software like FileZilla.
  • You look marvelous! Keep up the good work.
  • That is outstanding:smile:       Keep up the good work
  • Thanks for the input! I had a hemorrhoidectomy and a prerequisite for me going home was I had to pee. After I was unable to pee for more than eight hours and bags of IV's I was given a catheter and forced to stay until I could go on my own. Hopefully it's just water retention cuz I was trying everything I could to go on my…
  • Hey sister, My wife and I are starting week 7 tomorrow and If you remain consistent with your workouts--don't skip ANY days, maintain proper form on all exercises and "do your best and forget the rest" you will be fine. It's VERY important to write everything down so you have a goal the next time you do the exercise. I…
  • K2d4p, That is super.  You ran at a 6.75 minutes per mile pace--that's outstanding.    And 50 push-ups:noway: :noway: :noway: :noway: You are a beast...Very good job Plus 75 sit ups is not shabby at all..Super Job
  • I have a scale in the bathroom and a scale downstairs near the kitchen. I weigh myself first thing in the morning because I usually lose water weight at night. I weigh myself after every workout...once again to determine water loss or actual fat loss. I weigh myself before I go to bed to see how much weight is burned while…
  • I had the same dilemma. I listened to the advice given about eating back exercise calories...so I tried it. I found that eating food when I was not hungry caused me to lose weight at a slower pace than I had been losing before I started eating food for the sake of reaching a number. Rarely, am I hungry enough to eat the…
  • I have both. My wife and I are starting phase 2 or week 5 of the P90X program tomorrow, and we love it. It's time consuming--about 60 minutes a day (90 minutes for Yoga) but it goes by quickly because you are constantly moving, burning calories and maintaining a constant heart rate within your zone. We use resistance bands…
  • Week of 22 may 2011 – 28 May 2011 Same routine for the next three weeks thru 11 June 2011 Phase 2 of the P90X Program Monday: Morning—HIIT 1/10 sprint then jog intervals for 36 minutes or 3 miles Morning—P90X—Ab Ripper X Evening—P90X—Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps Tuesday: Morning—30 Minute uphill climb at 4.0 mph on incline…
  • ____________ I have been trying to eat back my exercise calories even when I'm not hungry and I stop losing weight at the rate I did before I started the eat back your exercise calories stuff. I'm going back to eating when hungry and if I have a 500 or 1000 calorie deficit at bedtime then so be it. My body tells me when it…
  • When my clothes started fitting differently. It gets obvious when clothes the were previously too small is now too big. I'm getting my teenage boys hand me downs these days--very expensive hand me downs that would be going to the Goodwill but I now have use for them.
  • Six days a week for for a minimum of 90 minutes of vigorous exercise ( >60 to 85% of HRR-Heart Rate Reserve). If I'm not in my zone (130 to 158bpm) I'm not exercising.
  • Bathroom, then scale, then wee-wee, then scale again, then wash my face, then brush my teeth, then I drop right outside the bathroom and do 100 push-ups, then I look at myself from different angles in the mirror until my wife tells me to stop.
  • Thanks, I haven't eaten the Dulce de Leche, best cheesecake on the planet, since last year--but I truly appreciate you posting this site.
  • Thanks for the update. I'm not to far off from these recommendations now so cleaning my diet even more will not be too far of a leap. I'm in phase 2 of the P90X program which calls for less protein in my diet. I'm always over MFP's suggested protein intake. I realize that a sufficient amount of protein prevents fatigue and…
  • I can't speak for anyone else but this was a great piece and it motivates me to clean up my diet even more. I just told my wife this weekend that taking our children (teenage boys) to McDonalds is child abuse. We should be charged by CPS (Child Protection Services). I concur...everything in moderation? I respectfully…
  • Next week is a recovery week for P90X but I plan to stay with my heavy weight and resistance training. Monday: Morning--Heavy Squats, Heavy leg curls and Heavy leg extension (4 sets of 8 to 10 reps max) Evening--Yoga X--90 minutes Evening--Extreme Uphill walking at 4-4.5 mph--90 minutes (1000 calories burned) Tuesday:…
  • Keep up the good work! You look marvelous.
  • You look MARVELOUS:smile:
  • Thanks, there must be some truth to this eating back exercise calories thing, I'm having a hard time eating as much food as this site suggest I eat. I do know that I have lost a considerable amount of muscle with the hope that I would be losing fat...unfortunately the muscle left and the fat stayed. I was still losing…
  • __________ This was GREAT advice:smile:
  • Goals: 1). Get below 190lbs. 2). Be consistent and stay on schedule with my P90X program. Get better with the YOGA portion of the program. 3). Improve in every area of the P90X program from week to week. 4). See the third row of my Rectus Abdominis. 5). Reduce body fat composition as much as I can SAFELY. 6). Start…
