Mix turmeric with yogurt and use it as a marinade for chicken, with other spices that you like. Turmeric also works really well with courgettes/zucchini.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still dithering so will ask around to see if I can borrow one before investing, it's either that, or it goes on my Xmas list...

Caught the last train to motherhood, adopting a 3rd old at 46. Having had a tough start she's challenging but worth it. I knew it would be emotionally tough but I wasn't expecting having to exercise my brain, learning so much about attachment and development too. For someone with little maternal instinct, it was only after…

About 30 has been off for 18 months but struggled to lose any more since, til 6 weeks ago I tried 5:2 and that seems to allow me to get below 180.

Jillian michaels 30 day shred DVD really worked for me
-
I was told a banana a day, and reduce processed food as I never added salt to my food anyway. 5 a day and a regular exercise got mine down to not needing meds. It's gone back up over the summer while I wasn't able to exercise with an injury.

My holiday is 6 weeks away, so I'll definitely join you for the first half - if that's ok? I'm at 178 and will commit to a lb a week (can't quite believe I'll achieve two but good on you) by 5:2. On non fasting days Ill still be doing five a day. For exercise I'll be doing 30 day shred minus the cardio (my knees are bad)…

I can't do 30ds without shoes, there's a lot of high impact moves that my old bones need cushioning for. If its muscular it should respond to RICE, rest, ice, compression, elevation. If its hot, swollen, then a trip to the drs. If it does settle, the downward facing dog yoga pose is great for stretching calves, before and…

Can't help with trails info as I'm in the UK but I log in every day and always try and encourage friends on here. Just had a week off logging as away on holiday but back on Monday with my spring goals all set - 7 lbs in 14 weeks, some activity every day, 5 a day inc a banana and lots of water. Feel free to add.

Update. ECG all clear today and after a few days of my new approach my bp was inside normal range! Need to keep up over the next week while away on holiday and hopefully I won't need to start the meds...

Thanks, am on the 5 a day, including a banana Can't tolerate vinegar, makes me sick - so that's a no from me Am working on sodium, double checking packaged foods. Picking up my loaner bp machine Thursday, so will start to track progress
-
Indeed, you can't spot lose but Pilates will give you a good feel for the core muscle groups and an excellent workout for that area
-
All good, posted a half pound loss today and sourced a bp monitor from a friend. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Unfortunately there are two things I can't abide, namely beetroot and vinegar. Will have to find a way without these. Again thanks all for your advice and concern, my appointment is in three weeks, if I haven't made a dent in my rates by then I'll do as I am told and start the meds to be on the safe side, whilst still…

I lost the first half towards my goal, then went back to work and had less time to exercise, maintained the loss but didn't lose any more. Bp went up during that maintenance period, so it's back to losing (the other half) and shoe horning exercise in where I can.
-
Thanks for all the responses, such a supportive community! Off to do more research based on yor pointers and possibly get a bp monitor for home Thanks

Thanks for the fresh approaches. I don't think sodium is an issue for me, don't cook or eat with it much, wasn't aware of the potassium link - will look into that. Have attempted to increase protein previously with mixed results, but trying it now linked to reducing sugar hopefully thereby warding off carb cravings.

Thanks, I'm usually on my bike by now but this year it's been freezing! Have been increasing my activity.

Bump for ongoing inspiration

Pilates, a good class will work your core and introduce you to a range of exercises you can work through yourself, safely

Trying this tonight

I use two diet coke bottles filled with water, easier to grip than cans. I also have two filled with sand for when I'm stronger. ( never got up to those last time round, maybe this time...).
