  • I know it's not the cheapest route to go, but my husband and I bit the bullet and bought an elliptical. We loved it so much that we got a treadmill, so we can work out side by side. Now I can get my cardio in while I watch crappy TV. We are planning to buy a Bowflex next so we can do some strength training in front of the…
  • It's been my personal experience that it only takes about 5 days of eating 200-500 calories less than the 1200 limit for your body to go into starvation mode. It is really not a good place to be! It took forever to get my body back on track and I would do just about anything to avoid getting back there. As a rule now, I…
  • My husband would be spending the week on the couch if he did that to me! You should tell him that you are getting healthy for yourself and you are accountable to yourself ; not him, so if he doesn't have anything supportive to say then he should keep his trap shut. Helping someone reach their goals in a constructive way…
  • I intended my treat day to be a day when I could have whatever food I had really been craving all week, but slowly it's become a treat meal, and I still try to make it as healthy as possible while keeping it a satisfying treat. The longer I monitor my eating the more I seem to make healthier decisions even on my treat…
  • You look amazing! And on another note I find it so inspirational that you are using the time your husband is gone to focus on getting healthy! I think my husband's 2nd deployment was when I gained a lot of my weight. Way to go and keep up the good work! you are incredible!
  • I use what my elliptical tells me. I have had bad experiences with HRMs and the estimates on here seem to be low. When I just get on my elliptical and go at a low level of resistence, I ge the same numbers that are on here, but if I get on the elliptical and do a preset workout, I work a lot harder and the elliptical…
  • "Do you want peanut butter today? Then get to work!" I substitute whatever food I am craving at the moment, but it's usually peanut butter. Sometimes it's just "Do you want to eat today?" if I've had a few days of dealing with hunger pangs.
  • I tried to have mozzerella sticks on my last treat day, but the fryer was broken! Is that a sign?
  • This is a great guide to calorie deficits: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/61706-guide-to-calorie-deficits I lost weight like crazy sticking to the MFP goals in the beginning. Things have slowed down a bit since then, but I am approaching my goal weight, plus I had 5 days straight where I was between 200 and 400…
  • Throw some boxing punches. I always feel like an idiot doing this while I'm sitting down, but you can actually break a sweat!
  • grilled chicken with spinach, mushrooms and red bell pepper
  • 6... but 7 is a close 2nd
  • I know what you're talking about. I used to hate working out, but at some point over the last few weeks I've actually started looking forward to it everyday. I love my morning workout so much that I am adding an evening workout starting today.
  • I'm starting that one tonight!!!!
  • I like orange juice and cranberry juice mixed together. Ideally this would have some champagne in it, but it's good without the booze too.
  • Welcome and good luck!
  • You have to make it one of your top priorities. Nothing keeps me from completing my morning workout! I was half an hour late to work this morning, so that I could get my workout in. That being said, I have a job where I can come in late and leave late or come in early and leave earlier. I think the biggest part is to…
  • I'm heading out on a cruise in late May. I hadn't even thought about my app not working!
  • It's impossible to know what you could be overdosing on without knowing the composition of your vitamins, but any vitamin or mineral that is fat soluble can be overdosed on. Some fat soluble vitamins can cause severe liver and kidney problems and issues with digestion. I wouldn't take more than one dose per day.
  • This is one of my favorite posts. Very clear explanation.
  • This is the best advice that I have seen so far when it comes to choosing your ideal daily calorie range (he also talks about when/whether you should eat your exercise calories back): http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/61706-guide-to-calorie-deficits
  • You can add me if you like. P.S. I LOVE Kayaking! I'm looking into buying my first sit-on-top.
  • I'm up between 4:30 and 5am every morning. I work 12 to 13 hour days with a 3 hour round trip commute. Plus I'm trying to get in 30 minutes to an hour of workout in a day. I definitely feel your pain. I get through the day by breaking my calories up into 4-6 small meals. I eat about 260 for breakfast at around 5:30 or 6am,…
  • I don't seem to have that but I really really want it!
  • I used to get that way too, but now I break my calories up into 4-6 smaller meals. That way I'm eating every couple of hours, and now I have a hard time eating all of my calories.
  • Thanks! I'm pretty excited to start a new DVD tonight!
  • Just add it to your signature.
  • That's a new one to me. I've always heard that you are still burning fat when you build muscle, but you don't see the same kind of weight loss, because muscle weighs more than fat (per volume). That's why inches are just as important as weight. They show the building of muscle AND the burning of fat. As dense, heavy muscle…
