Bunk! The microwave was invented by a Dr. Percy Spencer, a self-taught engineer with the Raytheon Corporation. He was testing a magnetron (needed for radars), when he noticed a candy bar melted. He also popped some popcorn. Now you know why microwaves were sometimes called a "radar range". The cavity magnetron itself was…

Great job!! Keep up the awesome work. I never did Power 90 but I would recommend P90X when you feel ready.

Congratulations! Looks great!

Muscle does not weigh more than fat. Never has, never will... Besides, adjones5 states on page 1 that her waist measurement is getting bigger. This would not indicate a gain in muscle mass. Since muscle is DENSER than fat a pound of muscle would be smaller than a pound of fat so measurements would likely be smaller not…

You are not talking the same level of calorie deficit. You are talking an extreme calorie deficit that can not be properly compared to what is being discussed here. You may learn a thing or two if you read and pay attention with an open mind rather than throw around snide remarks.

If you make your food log visable we will be more likely to help you. Most of us, myself included, are quite poor at estimating food portions. Are you measuring and weighing your food? How far under your daily calorie goal are you? If you set up MFP right to start with then the daily calorie goal that MFP gives you already…

I love the funny feeling I get whenever you say *kitten*... Would say it again...Please?

No offense intended but I don't think you really know what it is to raise kids in the real world. "That's as far as it gets" is very easy to say and much harder to enforce unless you are with them 24/7.

For my bike ride this afternoon my HRM said I burned 337 calories and the web site said 382.

Your sick...Feed your body! Just don't go crazy about it. When I'm sick I will eat some extra if I feel like it to give my body something to work with in getting better.

More fiber is a good thing! More protein is also a good thing!!

Not too far away here in New Hampshire. You can do it!

If I am within about 150 calories under I'm happy. I'm usually within 100 under. If I'm within 50-100 over I don't worry about it. How far are you going over? If you have MFP set up to lose 1 pound per week, the recommended level, than the calorie deficit built in is 500. That said, as long as you are not over your goal by…

Most reputable health care professionals, and this site, recommend losing 1 pound per week. At weight loss rates greater than 1 pound per week a person is likely to lose muscle mass in addition to fat. As you lose muscle mass your metabolism declines making it hard to continue losing weight and harder to maintain your…

I generally have my meals and exercise for the day planned in the morning or the night before. This way I know approximately what my exercise calorie burn will be and I plan my meals through the day to "pre-eat" enough calories so that I can just eat a sensible supper and maybe a snack. This has been working great! I…

This does not really answer your question but Is your exercise mainly cardio based? It sounds like part of the problem may be that you need to add more muscle mass.

Mine is open. If nothing else I figure it gives my some accountability. If someone can look at it I am more likely to be good.

My favorite soda is milk or water but back in my drinking days I liked Dr. Pepper the best.

Sound like you have a great plan in place. Continue doing both.

As you said you are new to this. It really isn't a big deal once you get into it. It tends to become kind of second nature. This is just what works for me. You will find what works best for you. By the way...Welcome!

If you set up MFP right to start with then the daily calorie goal that MFP gives you already has a calorie deficit built in to lose weight. That said, you should eat close to the calorie goal MFP gives you each day including eating back most of your exercise calories. Depending on how far under the daily calorie goal you…

I agree! I don't like anybody using double standards, male or female. I also believe in treating everyone as an equal right up until they prove they don't deserve it.

Save your money!! They have no proven benefit. They don't tone, they don't burn fat, they don't burn calories, they don't build muscle. All they do is shake or vibrate you. A mechanical version of snake oil. The only thing they make lighter is your bank account.

First of all, you probably should not put your daily calorie goal all the way down to 1200 if MFP is telling you that you should eat 1685 based on your weight, activity level and weight loss goals. If you eat too few calories you are VERY likely to sabotage your weight loss. If you set up MFP right to start with then the…
