  • Not exactly a recipe but I like to put it in my wraps. Turkey+whole wheat tortilla+red pepper Laughing cow+spinach+red peper is pretty awesome.
  • Made pancakes with a banana, two eggs, a scoop of vanilla protein, some flax seed, and a little almond milk. Topped with strawberries and maple syrup. Coffee as always.
  • I like to cook it in almond milk, and sautee an apple and a peach or pear in coconute oil, add that with some dried cranberries and some honey. Mmm.

  • Here's my take on it. Over the last couple years I've transitioned into eating "cleaner". I make food from scratch as much as possible. Not only does this reduce sugar and sodium, but it's cheaper and tastier. I don't feel that cutting down on wheat and dairy are necessary, but they do have a lot of calories so I've cut…
  • Agree there's a lot of studies that show that doing strength before cardio doesn't hurt your cardio performance, but cardio before weights hurts your lifting performance. So it's best to do strength training first. Other than that, there's no real reason not to do elliptical. I find I burn a heck of a lot more running, but…
  • Well I looked up Gravity to see if there was something I was missing. Doesn't look like I did. I caught onto the rebirth and evolution metaphors, like the shot where she looks like a fetus or when she lands on Earth and is fumbling around. I didn't hate it, but I'd still just rate it as "okay". Still missing something? I…
  • I find I drop a size about every 10 lbs. Maybe go from loose fitting to tight fitting, so not quite a whole size, but close enough. Women's clothing sizes are so damn arbitrary though, who knows what size I really am at any given time.
  • I have been drinking a lot of almond so that I have something creamy and low calorie to add to oatmeal, smoothies, etc. It only has 1 g of protein, making milk far superior, but I get protein other places. Something about milk gives me horrible breath, too. I still keep it around for baking and cooking. And no pus in milk.…
  • Couldn't finish Avatar. The special effects were good, but there was nothing else to that movie. Plot's been done again and again. I was excited for Black Swan. I used to do ballet, I like Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, and I like weird mindfreak kind of movies. It fell pretty flat. Les Miserables. It had its moments but…
  • My belly for sure. I carry a lot of weight there. I would trade places with someone that carries it in their butt and thighs any day of the week.
  • I did it for a while. I started getting some pretty severe lower back pain so I moved away some from compound into muscle isolation. I did definitely get results though. That's the best my back has ever looked  Doesn't look like that now.
  • This. If I don't have carbs before my workout I definitely notice lower performance, and I figure that my workouts do more for me long term than a lack of carbs will, so I carb it up :) If you have an event or something in particular you want to look extra slim for (wedding, reunion, bikini competition, what have you) it…
  • Meh. It increases risk, it's not a guarantee. No one would deny that smoking is bad for you, yet there are people that smoke like a chimney and live to be unusually old. So there are other factors for sure, but just because it isn't a guaranteed death sentence doesn't make it okay for everybody.
  • Permanent>fast. Unfortunately the two tend to be mutually exclusive.
  • Elaborate? I don't use it for normal activities like household chores, but I do use it for weight lifting, intervals, etc.
  • According to my A&P instructor that has also been a physician that reviews medical schools, writes questions on the MCAT, gives consultations on new surgeries... Fasting for a meal or two once a month or two is good for you. It gives your digestive system a little break. OTOH doing it regularly (like skipping breakfast…
  • Personally I try to keep carbs on the lower side, only because I'm on limited calories and it would be more beneficial to spend them on protein and fat. I still eat lots of veggies, but try to find ways to substitute out bread products since they have so many (and lots of carbs=lots of calories, again like people said it's…
  • I have a pretty basic model Polar. It doesn't have any fancy features that require internet, doesn't have bluetooth or syncing or anything like that. I just wear it and then enter the calories burnt into mfp, minus about 100 cals/hour (because I figure I burn around that much doing normal non workout stuff). I got it on…
  • The sugar limit on mfp is hilariously low. Have an apple and some milk and you're done. I'm assuming you aren't sitting around eating cupcakes and bonbons, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. -fruit eater
  • I stumbled across this on tumblr and now it's one of my faves. I leave it in for a couple minutes though, but I think that's just my oven running a little cold.
  • Mine was to be a horse trainer, and I pursued that for several years. Figured out that running a business isn't for me. So I went back to school to be a nurse. I didn't dream of being a nurse as a kid (in fact I was adamantly against it- my mom was one and tried to push it on me), but I think I'll enjoy it and it will…
  • Plenty of people lose weight and get healthy without ever seeing a nutritionist or a dietitian. It wouldn't hurt, but it isn't necessary either. Losing weight is hard, but it isn't complicated. Set one small goal at a time and you will get there.
  • If people notice you at all, all they will think is "rock on!" The gym is probably the last place anyone will think badly of you for trying to get into better shape.
  • I know I personally am much more likely to binge if I let myself get too hungry, so eating often works better for me. On the same token, I don't really buy into the whole "eat every three hours or your metabolism will die!" thing. That's usually about how often I eat, but if I'm not hungry I don't worry about it.
  • I just started using almond milk simply because it has 30 cals a cup while 1% has 110. I mostly use it for making oatmeal, smoothies, and stuff like that. I'm not really one to just drink a glass of milk. Almond milk also has a lot of calcium (fortified with it, I think) and I like it in my coffee. It is inferior to…
  • No. I am lazy and only want to put so much thought and effort into my meals and preparation. It's hard enough to eat a balanced diet with the right macros without eliminating whole food groups. I think if I did I would end up eating carbs way too much. I did a sort of vegetarian challenge for the heck of it once. It was…
  • I'd say if you only can do one or the other, do weights because heavy weights raises your heart rate and counts as cardio as well. But both is good.
  • Yep you only want to start at 5 or 6 minutes. I don't burn easily but I still only start at 8 or so if I haven't done it in a long time and it's winter (like now... also in north MN... what's this sun you speak of???) I know it's bad but it's the only thing that keeps me sane around here. I start in the dead of winter and…
  • And even with those things they double the warranty (at least with laptops anyway)
