As to the problems with rapid weight loss, it's more that statistically: the faster you lose, the more likely you are to regain everything back.

It depends on the intensity of the exercise. Just remember that an hour of sitting on the couch watching a movie can burn between 60-100+ cals (depending), so counting an hour of walking is a burn, but 2000 cals of low-moderate burn would be a much lower net if you subtract your BMR. My personal rule of thumb: eat back if…

I used to feel motivated watching it, but I prefer extreme makeover now--mostly because the catty competitiveness and the artificial nature of the "week" sets unrealistic expectations.

Poured myself a glass of water instead of getting another Iced Americano -- not about calories so much as heart health.

I've recently discovered some pretty awesome Kettle Bell routines that can be moderated to whatever intensity you desire. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uepe2BmqlYo Also, add me as a friend. I have some weight to lose and never mind the company!

Me. I lost 45, then gained it back with interest. Then lost 55, and gained all of that back (and then some). So this is my third time around this now very familiar mountain. I would love the support. #nolookingback

Mom of 1, but I still need a push.

Get a water resistant Heart Rate Monitor... then you can put your info in and get a better calculation.

Daily. Been working well for me. Used to weigh in weekly/every other week, but I found myself obsessing about the weigh-ins, and then binging afterwards. People talk about how unhealthy weighing in every day is because you are chained to the scale, but for me, I was chained more by not knowing than just weighing, logging,…

Wow, amazing transformation! Well done

I use this recipe all the time and it is amazing! You can include crushed garlic, a little balsamic, or anything else that suits your fancy. Couldn't agree more! Especially if you get veggies that are in-season (check out your local farmers' market).

Stephanie--I have been around the MFP mountain twice before. First time with a 45lbs loss and the second time with a 60lbs loss. This time, I am determined to keep it off and to stay healthy. Slow and steady wins the race! I've added you as a friend.

Congrats on the weight loss, Wildy! I find it's amazing how just keeping myself accountable deeply contributes to my success in the weight-loss arena.

Great job for taking the first step! I'm here for you. Check out my profile: we have a lot in common. I've sent you a friend request if you want daily support and motivation. I'm pretty positive. Also, if you open up your diary, I'll take a look any time you want to encourage and motivate. Cheers!

Hey Jared! I can empathize with your frustration... losing weight is such a victory, but gaining it back can feel like defeat multiplied. I've sent you a friend request if you want daily support and motivation.

I'd love to know this information as well. Anyone?

Amazing! Congratulations... you are an inspiration :)

I am just repeating what has already been said, but I would like to add that calorie counting is just one (limited) way that we measure the energy content of food. You could count a whole range of different numbers (carbs, fat, protein, etc). The basic idea is that you have to put less energy into your body than you…

You look amazing! Congratulations! Thank you for sharing and being a motivating force for others.

Thank you all for being such an inspiration. This has been so motivational. As a fellow shortie, I have a long journey ahead of me (80+ lbs), but I am so excited to "see" what the end product may be for me.

I've been an MFP for years as well! I've sent you a friend request :)

I can so relate to this! I worked so hard in 2008-2009 to lose 78lbs... I got to where I was running 25-35miles a week and even run a marathon! But the weight has all crept back on between new jobs, marriage, pregnancy, and now moving. I eat my emotions and if I'm not being intentional, I just fall off the wagon without…

I love this thread. I am a verteren marathoner who got herself badly injured two years ago (wasn't even running); I let myself go completely and I now dealing with 60+ of excess poundage (I don't even feel like myself). I just came back from week 2, run 1 of the program and found this thread as I was logging my cals. I…

I hope that this season will get back to capturing the inspiration it used to give off. Last season was so hard to watch.
