Soaking, rinsing, and cooking your beans goes a long way to breaking down those chemicals. As long as you doing that, you need not worry. I make a mean ham and bean soup. It's filling, tastes great, and low cal for the serving you get. Found it here: http://www.budgetbytes.com/2011/05/ham-bean-soup/ My slow cooker doesn't…

Take a look at budgetbytes.com. I love the ham and bean soup and the Rosemary garlic beef stew.

Bump. I'm wondering this too. So far, I have just been using what fit bit syncs. It's working well enough. I still only eat half of the exercise calories back. I'm at the beginning of my 3rd week doing this, so I don't have enough information to know if it's working yet.

This sounds so cool! Hope I get an invite!

I was running outside using c25k last fall and made it through. It was great! I had never been able to run like that in my life. I had childhood asthma, but I think I grew out of mine. It's been 20 years since I had any issues. I have been out of shape for several years though so running for any length of time felt very…

Nsfw language but this is hysterical. http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/lax/182862349.html This is what happened to one poor soul when he ate fat free Pringles made with olean/olestra.

I'm 5'0" and my goal weight is 115. Honestly, I haven't been that small since high school. I'm 30 now, so it's been awhile. I'm not even sure what 115 would be like anymore, so what I guess I'm trying to say is that my goal number may change as I get closer, but 115 puts me in a healthy weight range at least.

The first time I tried to lose weight was 11 years ago. I was getting married and wanted to lose 12 lbs for my wedding. I started going to Curves (which meant I was exercising when I hadn't been before) and I cut back on extra portions and pop. No problem. Lost about a half a pound to a pound a week and was successful. I…

I jogged for 20 minutes straight the other night. It was c25k week 5 day 3 and I was pretty nervous about it. I remember seeing that day when I started and wondering how I was ever going to be able to do it. When I had first started, I was struggling to run for a whole minute.

Whatever you do, make sure it is something you enjoy. I tried lifting heavy, exercise DVDs, you name it. I didn't enjoy it and couldn't stick with it so it never "worked". Right now I'm doing bodyweight training /calisthenics and I think I've finally found what works for me. I'd suggest you try a bit of everything and…

5' even. I'm on about 1400 cal a day and need to lose 45 lbs. Lost 5 so far since August. Feel free to add me!

I also have a fitbit and try to get in my 10,000 steps. I pretty much use it just as a way to keep me moving through the day. It is kind of a small goal that I give myself everyday. It gives me about 125 extra calories a day according to mfp. I don't eat those back. I only eat half my regular exercise calories back…

Thank you for the replies. I guess I just needed some reassurance that I'm doing the right things and that I can relax a bit without killing my progress. :-)

I'm from Parma, but now live in Pataskala (east of Columbus, not quite to Newark).

http://www.instructables.com/id/Perfect-Oven-Sweet-Potato-Fries/ I cut them and toss with some olive oil to lightly coat then salt and pepper them. Freshly ground pepper is the best. Bake for amazing sweet potato fries.

Water is just one molecule away from hydrogen peroxide. But yeah, butter all the way. Unless I am making some boxed mac and cheese, then I go for the nasty *kitten* margarine. Oooohhhh yeah.

I use the Marzetti Simply Dressed Light Ranch Dressing. It has 70 calories vs 110 for the same serving size. I make it fit. :-)

30 year old mother of 2 boys here. One is 7 years old and the other is 21 months. Just started here a month ago and need to lose about 50 lbs. Here's to showing everyone that Mom's over 30 can get back into shape!

I run at night especially when it is hot out during the day in the summer. As it gets darker earlier, I imagine I'll be still running in the dark even as it cools down. My neighbor hood is quiet and there isn't a lot of traffic. So far I'm just running in bright clothing. My biggest dilemma about running outside is what…

Make sure you are taking measurements of various places on your body too. The scale and the body fat % measurements on them can be misleading and only give you a small part of the weight loss picture.

I'm pretty out of shape in addition to being overweight but I am still attempting the 30 day shred. It kicks my but pretty hard. I am doing c25k on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday. I am doing the 30 day shred Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Friday is my rest day for exercise. I need the recovery. I still plan on doing level…

Wow! I see potential in this. Awesome. Add me, I'm Bernadine.

I've lost weight before. 12 lbs for my wedding 10 years ago (142 to 130) and 12 lbs for a contest a few summers ago (148 to 136). Recently, I've gotten up to 165 after holding my weight in the 140's for the better part of 10 years and 2 kids. Never was really happy there, but it wasn't painful enough for me to change.…

5'0" with a starting weight of 165 and goal weight of 115 (ambitious, but gotta aim high, right?) for a total of 50 lbs. I plan on losing a pound a week for probably a year. So far I've been here 3 weeks and have lost 3 lbs, so I'm right on schedule. Feel free to add me!

Bumping for later. I would love to be able to do parkour one of these days. :-)

Oooh! Today was my first day! Add me if you want. I'll be doing the 30 day shred with c25k that I'm already on the last day of week 2 with. So far so good. I like how fast it was and I sweated up a storm! My legs are jelly right now but I feel great. Looking forward to results, that's for sure.

I'm losing a pound a week. I guess that is slow. Feel free to add me!
