Thank you for this post. I've been running a little over 2 years and I'm about to turn 50. I started running and kept adding distance but like you I generally run a 10:30 mile. Somedays are better than others and on a good day I can average a 10 minute mile. However, I don't worry about the time - my goal is to finish and…

I am running my first half marathon in Seaside NJ on 10/14. I run 5 days a week (4 to 7 miles during the week and a long run on Sundays). I have run the 13.1 distance twice just to make sure I can do it and I was very proud of myself as I could do it!!!! After this race I'll run a Turkey Trot and then not sure. I much…

I can so relate to this. I have found that I just can not run well in the heat. Perfect example of a bad run for me was struggling thru a 5 mile run on a trail that I have run thousands of times and run well but had to stop and walk for a few minutes before I could continue (I ran late morning as opposed to early morning…

I'm an early morning exerciser. I'm up all week at 4 am and out the door to the gym by 4:30. On weekends I'm up by 7 am to get my run in before the heat kicks in.

I will be running a year this July. I got off to a slow start and had an injury but I now run 5 days a week - 5 miles per run. I ran my first race Memorial Day Weekend - a five miler. I enjoyed it very much and now decided that I will run a half marathon in October. This will alter my running schedule but I'm very…

I am going on a cruise in 71 days. The cruise is going to Nassau, Bahamas, Half Moon Cay and Grank Turk. I so can't wait. I will exercise every day and I will do my best to eat healthy. However, I've been living my healthy life style for 16 months already so I am not going to torment myself by denying myself. When I come…

My screen name is a combination of my 3 daughters names. RE for my oldest daughter Rebecca, AM for my middle daughter Amanda and MI for my youngest daughter Michelle. Put it all together and you have REAMMI. I thought it was clever :))

I never thought I could: - lose 80 pounds - run 5 miles and actually enjoy it - get up 5 days a week at 4 am to go to the gym and again actually enjoy it - sustain eating healthy but now I prefer it - be an inspiration to others but apparently I am

Saw the Hunger Games on Saturday afternoon.

The foam roller, making sure I stretch well after every run and a good pair of running sneakers that I was fitted for erased my knee pain. Good Luck!!!

I am going to Dallas next weekend and then to Myrtle Beach (South Carolina) in March. Both are for my daughters cheer competitions. Real vacation is in August when I am taking my family on a 7 day cruise (ports in the Bahamas).

I am up at 4:30 am Tuesday thru Friday and out the door by 5 am (after getting dressed and walking the dog). I have an hours drive to work but we do have a free gym so it's worth getting up early to work out and miss the traffic. I'm in the gym by 6:30 am. I alternate running, rowing, cycling and strength training with…

I took the first 2 letters of my 3 daughters names. So, RE is for Rebecca, AM is for Amanda and MI is for Michelle. That gave me REAMMI which I thought was pretty unique so I went with it!!!!!

Just saw this thread and I definitely do qualify as a cool kid. I'm 47 and I've been athletic my entire life. A college basketball knee injury sidelined me for quite some time as did having 3 kids. A few years ago, I decided I needed to do something as I had gained weight and I missed working out. So, I came up with the…

I met Jillian Michaels in May 2011. She was super nice. We took a picture and she signed a copy of her latest book for me.

Deciding to get healthy and fit. I lost 71 pounds and can run 5 miles in 49 minutes. I also met Jillian Michaels who inspired me to keep going (I had lost 36 pounds when I met her).

I'm also very interested in this. I have lost 66 pounds this year and I have to say I'm constantly freezing now. I find that my fingers and fintertips go numb from being so cold. I never recall this happening in the past.

Good Morning. Cheryl - I so can imagine how you are feeling. The challenge is tough enough as it's in addition to your normal exercise but taking on captain duties on top of that - it's a lot. I think you have done a great job and I'm with you - if the scale is moving down you are doing GOOD. I lost 1 pound this week so…

Hi, I'm very proud of myself today. I had been fearful of running on the treadmill but today I conquered that fear. I ran 4 miles on the treadmill without falling as it was very foggy and dark at work this morning and I didn't think it would be safe to run outdoors. I also finally was able to garner the strength to do the…
