  • Wow, you look fabulous! And you have great style :)
  • That is so fabulous, congrats on 2nd place! You really earned it with all your hard work :D
  • Great blog, thanks for sharing!
  • That sounds great! I did something similar but added old favourite dresses that I can't wear any more. I've put the approximate weight I think I will need to be to fit into each dress on a bit of masking tape on the hanger of each dress with the final dress as a brand new little black dress. That way I get something…
  • Do you start out with one foot already clipped in? That's made the difference for me!
  • Just from my personal experience, even if your tri suit has a built in shelf bra I would wear a sports bra underneath as well. I saw a lot of, shall we say, unsupported ladies at my last tri and a couple were even holding their chests as they ran because they only had a swim/tri suit on under their tops.
  • Helmet looks pretty badass!
  • Oh my god, I love this bike! I'm obsessed. If it would stop with the torrential rain I would be cycling everywhere.
  • Just to update, after trying a million bikes for fit, and balancing comfort and budget, I ended up buying a men's road bike from Carrera. For a first bike, hopefully it will serve me well. Thanks so much for all your advice, it was so helpful!
  • Search groups, there is a fitbit user group on here with loads of helpful stuff on it! :)
  • Thanks guys, this has been really helpful. Since finances are super tight I'm having to go for a reconditioned second hand racing bike so this has all been very helpful info to take to the shop with me! :)
  • Nice to meet you and welcome to the group. Feel free to add me as a friend if you're looking for some other relative triathlon newbies. I completed my first this summer and am training for my second :)
  • Oh no! Sorry about that, I hope your next one is better :)
  • The last pool tri I did had a rule that you could only overtake at the end of the lane. So you tapped the toes of the person in front of you while swimming and they had to wait at the end until you kicked off. It worked well in our race because no one was drastically off their seed time and I only saw one *kitten* who…
  • Welcome! I'd echo what was said about joining a tri club - they're so welcoming and I've made loads of new friends (plus training sessions are WAY cheaper). This forum is also a great way to record weekly goals and stay accountable to them. You'll be awesome, welcome to the club!

  • Amazing job! Really well done!!
  • Hi all! Sorry I've been away for a while. For the last three weeks (give or take) I've had an awful chest infection which caused me to develop asthma-symptoms so the doc has had me off exercise. Three week of sitting around (and taking steroids - damn those things make you HUNGRY, not to mention a bit puffy) and I've lost…
  • Thanks guys! Vtate75: Everyone else had flipflops or similar to walk around in because there was over two hours from the time that transition closed to the time my swim wave went off. It was a long time to walk around the university campus in bare feet, especially on a cold morning! My husband was there with me so I could…

  • Thanks everyone! @scott091501: I was wearing a tri suit but it was pretty cold so ended up having to cover up after the swim. That's Scotland for you! Needless to say, comedy ensued!
  • I have exactly the same fear and my race is TOMORROW!!! AGHHH!!

  • Hi there, Welcome to the group! I'm training for a sprint in June and then an odd-distance mountain bike tri in July. Feel free to add me as a friend any and all of you. I'm super impressed that you've gone for the Oly - that's my goal for next season. :)

  • I think I would be happy with a half Ironman. But who knows once I have this baby tri under my belt!
  • Just to add to this, at my tri club I am one of the chubbier ones (I have just joined, I'm preparing for my very first tri) but there are so many different body types even among the club members, including overweight. I just finished reading The Slow Fat Triathlete by Jayne Williams - it made me feel so much better!
