  • Are you currently overweight? If so how did you manage that if you get full in 600 calories? I honestly do not understand how that can be. No body can be adequately nourished on 600 calories a day. Just not possible. Eat half a container of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. That will sort you out and taste great.
  • Find a nice park 5k away and walk to it daily, with her in the stroller. When you get there run around with her like you were 3 again. Then walk back home. It will tire you both out and burn lots of energy off. I walked 10k a day when mine were preschoolers. Just have to talk about what you see along the way.
  • Well eat natural greek yogourt, more protein and unsweetened. Replace fruit snack with vegetable snack like carrot sticks and hummus. You know where the "too much sugar" is coming from, so change the problem.
  • But in order to be a healthy weight you must be consuming more than 1200 calories a day just to maintain. For the average female 1600 a day would barely be enough calories. Therefore it makes no sense that all of a sudden they struggle to eat even 1200 cals when deciding to lose a few pounds. Can you explain this to me?…
  • How did you gain weight in the first place then?
  • I am for nutrition first too, plus I want to taste something too. The Dave's Killer bread goes off pretty quickly, no preservatives at all. I have had the kirkland one too, I like it a lot. Nice and dense, the way a good bread should be.
  • Dave's Killer bread is my favourite bread ever. Apparently they have a 60 cals per slice version in the US, that would be my go to. I buy the regular one that is 120 cals per slice. My lunchtime sandwich keeps me full for ages. 21 one whole grains is where it is at.
  • How do you know you are eating 1200 cals a day? Using cups, spoons and looking on packaging is notoriously inaccurate.
  • I can find the regular 21 grain at Costco here in Canada, but I see they have a 60 cals per slice version in the US. I would totally buy that, then I could eat even more slices a day!!!
  • Celiac disease is challenging isn't it. I have a friend who is diabetic and celiac, cooking for her is very interesting.
  • http://www.daveskillerbread.com/#first-slide I discovered Dave's killer 21 grain bread recently. It is the best. I tried the no bread thing, but then decided bread, like cheese and wine, are life. I eat two slices of really good bread every day, sometimes a really good baguette. Why give up anything you love if you can…
  • Totally agree on counselling just for you if he will not go. Once the kids are grown what will hold you two together? Couples need a tie that binds, and that usually is compassion. He may not want to do chores, but that is a childish attitude towards what is basically family life.
  • That is sad too. I often wish I was a kinder human. It is definitely work to be compassionate, comes more naturally to some folk for sure.
  • Can you get some counselling? As a couple it is beneficial if you feel like a team and you share the chores and parenting. A good counsellor will guide you through negotiating and help him see how you need balance. Congrats on losing weight already. Nursing is a very tough job with brutal shifts, I am impressed that you…
  • I find protein fills me up and keeps me less hungry. Maybe tweak what you are eating and try more protein?
  • Do not switch to a vegan lifestyle because you think it will help you lose weight, because it will not. Lots of overweight vegans out there. Choose a vegan lifestyle because it is a good fit nutritionally and ethically. If your only aim is to lose weight, then eat less that you do. If you think you eat poorly and would…
  • When you have a large amount of weight to lose, and reduce your calories as drastically as you did, then weighing matters less. A 308 pound man can lose if he estimates food. It is also possible just to cut out stuff like soft drinks or candy and lose without really counting calories. The challenge is when you are trying…
  • Are you trying to lose weight? If so then how did you get fat in the first place? Clearly by eating too much, like the rest of us. I really find it hard to imagine you have no appetite all of a sudden. By the way Isagenix is a pricey way to eat.
  • I would have the soup of the day and the bruschetta. I often order two appetisers when eating out. That way I feel like I am getting two courses and I get the smaller portions I want, if I order a full main course I tend to eat it all!
  • You do mean two bottles?? B)

  • You could just pay to see a dietitian, that is what most people do here. I suggest upping your veggies, aim for at least 5 servings a day. Look into roasting them, they taste wonderful and that helps with eating more. Also look into alternative sources of protein. Try fish, like tilapia and haddock. Good white fish. Beans…
  • My cure for the stay at home mom with "no job, no life" was to start a cooperative playgroup. We started with a group of moms who were in the same position and met once a week at each others homes, or a park in nice weather, with our kids. This was awesome. When winter came around we approached a local community center and…
  • Now you have a baby to nourish you really should give fruit and veg another try. Unless you want your baby to grow up with inadequate nutrition and a loathing of healthy food. Maybe start with veggies and dip, veggies in pasta sauces. Fruit is much easier to eat really. I hate some veg, but there are so many to choose from…
  • Running on a deficit is very hard. On my run days I really have to eat at maintenance. Other days I walk it is much more manageable.
  • I usually make a lean protein, a ton of veg and then some kind of carbs for the folk who want to eat more. Carbs can be potato, rice, pasta, baguette etc This way I just eat the lean protein and as much veg as I can cram in and they just add carbs. I would not cook two meals, nor would I compromise on my goals. My way we…
  • I would also say I am stronger, and fitter, at 50 than I have been since my teens. My kids are almost grown and I have more time to give myself. Nutrition is important and so is moving daily. My kids try to keep up with me, that feels good.
  • I keep frozen fish filets in the freezer, easy to cook one up for dinner. Lunches often eggs and egg white (high protein) omlettes. Tuna fish is a very easy protein source for lunches too. If you need more protein, then you have to add more protein.
  • I prelog my lunch, it stops me over eating. Currently lunch is a cup of egg whites, one whole egg, grated zuchini, a sliced tomato and some cottage cheese. Low cal and a crazy amount of food.
  • I know it looks like skinny people do not care what they eat, but the reality is they really do watch what they eat. People call me skinny, but I literally watch every calorie I put in my mouth and I workout 6 days a week to stay the size I am, and it is not easy. I have lost 70 pounds after each of three pregnancies. I…
  • How sad. I would probably unfollow her on social media. Social media is a luxury and does nto always help in complicated relationships. Very sorry for you, and her.
