All true. first stop has to be the running shoe shop and get fitted.
-
Ditto on this!
-
Off to the running store with you to be fitted. I had the same problem. shoes made all the difference.

fill a water bottle and freeze. roll your foot over it. Flex your toes. try some soft insoles in your shoes. Good Luck

just your norm should be fine. if you run everyday it will be fine, just go easy. No need to carb load or everything like that. Get your stuff getting the night before. Also take some safety pins to pin your race # on. And the biggy NOTHING new. Eat, drink and wear stuff that you have had and worn before. Not the time for…

A mt or hybird will only get you so far. and yes road bike's can be intimidating. What I was try to say is that I have seen so many people buy 200 and 300 dollar bikes and wish a few weeks later that they had spend a bit more for a better bike. I know because I took this route also. I started with a Mt bike, then to a road…

Your local bike shop is the way to go. The next decision you have to make is the type of bike to purchase. This is a real hard part, to go mountain bike, hybrid/comfort or road. If you are really looking to get a bike for fitness, I would suggest going with a road bike. As an avid cyclist I see so many people starting out…

Run, don't walk and get fitted for shoes. Sound like wrong size / to small toe box.

HRM do not work real good in the water. The water messes with the electrical readings from your body.

WTG!!! Day 24... I have been working it in with my swim, bike and run to get a bit mor upper body and core work.

mix it with OJ.

Becareful, spin is more addictive than crack. I started spin 5 years and 50 lbs ago. That lead to a bike that I would ride around the neighborhood, to a road bike and then to tri's. I now do spin in the winter and ride durning the summer. I will due 2,500 to 3,000 miles this year. A good pair of bike short will go a long…

HRM is the way to go.

Tri shorts. Nobody looking at you. They have just enough padding for the bike but will not be like wearing a wet diaper on the run. remember you'll only be there with a couple hundred other people in spadex. Plus just have fun. you only have one first tri. if you are not a very strong swimmer check out swimsafe its your…

Google jeff calloway and Chi Running. both great for info. Check into local running shoe stores for group run / running group. there you will find great people, support and info.

I know the feeling. Just started back runnig in the past couple weeks. Today was the first day that realy felt good. just take a deep breath and go!
-
Check out Chi Running. It has help me.
-
Great advise. Everything I was going to say.
-
Get all the bike your budget will let you. I see to many people go for the entry level bike and wish they spent a bit more a few eeks or months later.
-
I don't believe its real accurate. I get different readings on the same route. plus it showed a 100 feet of climb while doing a track workout on the local high school track.
-
Don't play with this. Go to Dr and get tested.

training for a 1/2 in Sept as part of the Ironman 70.3 in Augusta.

I love cycling. I started 5 years ago and just love it. Now with it being light until almost 9 I can get 100 to 150 miles a week. As for clipless pedal, they are the best. More power and better on your feet and body. You are going to fall, but it only counts if its in from of other people. everyone forgets to unclip sooner…

@ 6ALSmom - you are to stiff in the upper body and shoudlers. just relax.
-
Google jeff galloway run / walk. He has gotten tons of people from couch to marathon.

Way to go. But be careful, cycling is worst than Crack. you start with a goal of 40 mile and before long you will be doing 100+ miles a week. I know because thats what happen to me 5 years ago. So again great start and keep on pedaling!
