Calorie burn is primarily a factor of age, weight, heart rate and M/F. I struggled with getting a more accurate calorie burn number. The best way to get that is to use a heat rate monitor while you are riding. I did and it is worth the investment!

I totally agree! I use gators as well....
-
I don't think you will see any noticable rolling resistance moving to them. I switched to them on my road bike 700/25's and did not see a drop in speed at all. I would go for it!

5'7" 170lbs, Waist 34. Goal is to get down to 165 lbs.

I run 25's. The roads around where I live are terrible and 23's could not hold-up. I thought I would sacrafice some speed, but it was not noticable. I put some gatorskins on them and really cut down on the flats as well. I do enjoy the smoother ride as well.

Thanks for the heads up on AreoTech Designs, I ordered some clothes from them. They were very good quality and comfortable. I am orginally from the Pittsbugh area and never heard of them. I will be definately buying more from them in the future!

I am an old man in lycra and I topple over at 0 mph at least once a year. You never get use to the embarrasing feeling...lol

My initial thought is that your current chain should be fine. Worst case is that you my need to take a link or two out of it, but I would doubt it.

I think Vitamin water zero has less than 1g of sugar and 4g of carbs per serving (serving size 1 20oz bottle).

I have given up soda, and know drink 2-3 Vitamin water zero a day. So far so go for me. I do drink the occasional regular water.

I am in the range of 700-900 calories for Dinner

I usually drink a bottle of ensure before a long ride. Higher calories but does not make your stomach feel full.

This would be my vote!

I agree with this :)

Your goal sounds reasonable. All I can say is just keep working at it, there will be goods days and not so good days, but in the end it will be all worth it. I am here for support if you need it

I am with beatpig on this. I am also sitting as much as possible. However, a friend (and more experienced rider) observed that I may be sitting too much and recommended that I stand on hills a little more, if for nothing else to stretch my legs more. I have been taking his advice for the past few weeks and have improved my…

Thanks for the insight. I read your blog it was a very interesting read, it gave me some things to think about. I am participating in an organized ride, so I am hoping that they will have regular water stations for me to keep my bottles filled. I plan to do a 75 mile ride a couple weeks before the ride. That should be a…

I am a Yinz guy, originally from Pittsburgh

Two eggs a week should not be a problem. I have high cholesterol and I switched to eggbeaters. Good luck with your journey.

This is a great thread. I have ridden about 1,200 miles so far this year. I have a goal of 300 miles in August leading up to my first Century ride in mid-September.

Sriracha and Quaker Steak & Lube Hot Wing Sauce

I love chicken as well. I usually cook a couple of chicken breasts in the crockpot on the weekend and make shredded chicken, I mix in Quaker Steak buffalo wing sauce with the shredded chicken (I like the spicy taste and it is low sodium as well). Then throughout the week I use it on a small soft taco shell with a slice of…

I had to break down and buy a new belt myself this past weekend. Congrats on your amazing progress!

Best to cook your own meat. I eat a lot of shredded chicken and pork wraps and sliders. I usually add low sodium buffalo sauce on the shredded chicken to spice it up a little. I use to eat alot of deli meat and had the same issue you are having.

Feel free to add me....I am over that 50 mark and started my loss (30lb goal) the beginning of this year. The support you get here is great. I am well on my way and the journey has not been as bad as I thought.
