  • Thank God for all the law enforcement personnel who got this scumbag and killed the other one. Everyone always loves to hate on cops, but I sure didn't see any of those haters out there trying to find those fools. It takes a special kind of person to put their life on the line to protect others. God bless the police and…
  • Me! But I fled like so many others and moved to NWI.
  • 5 miles. :) Around Christmas time I stopped running because my treadmill was in the garage and it was so cold. Dumbest thing I ever did. I slipped back into some bad habits again and didn't get back on track until last month. And now its VERY hard to run that 5 miles with ease like I was. So the lesson I've learned is once…
  • I've always HATED running, even in high school when I was athletic and skinny. Now that I'm WAY bigger, I decided to give running another try since I've got so much weight to lose. Last summer I started using the Couch to 5k app. After following it about a month, I was able to run 5 miles straight! And I began to love it!…
  • I'm 5'5". At 150lbs, I was a size 10. I've never bought Lucky jeans for myself (WAY out of my budget), so that size 10 is from Old Navy, Eddie Bauer, American Eagle.
  • LOOOOVE TurboFire! I just need to do it regularly....the last month I've done it fairly consistently and I'm finally getting the hang of it. It is tough...feel free to add me :)
  • I've had TF for 2 years but never did much with it. I'd do it here and there but didn't really stick to it. I just started again about 3 weeks ago because there's a contest on Facebook through TF called the smokin' hot in 90 contest. We have to send in before pics, then day 30, day 60, and day 90 pics. Everyone who enters…
  • Hi, I'm Traci and I've been on MFP for a few years now. I'm the typical yoyo type dieter/exerciser. Trying to stay motivated and lose this for good this time. Newly vegetarian/vegan and doing TurboFire and running regularly....nice to "meet" you :)
  • Read The China Study. 'Nuff said. http://www.amazon.com/China-Study-Comprehensive-Nutrition-Implications/dp/1932100660
  • I'm in Indiana and strawberries are about 1.65 a pound right now on sale. I could never pay $4/lb. To answer your initial question, there are a lot of foods I don't eat out of expense, but that doesn't mean you should go eat crap because its cheap. There are a whole lot of cheap healthy foods, too. Eating garbage is just…
  • Added you :) I went vegan last April, but the last 2 months have been more vegetarian. Always trying to do better...
  • Dont quit yet! Last spring I started running. I started with the couch to 5k app. It was HARD!!! But within 6 weeks, I was running a full 5 miles (at a slow 5 mph pace, but still) nonstop! It really does get easier, just don't give up. You can do it! :)
  • I think so. I put one cupful in my post-run smoothies. A little soy protein, a frozen banana, coconut water, and spinach. It really helps me recover. I don't think just drinking it will aid in weight loss though, you gotta workout like crazy for that :)
  • You can add me. I'm new to running-started in June-and learning to love it. I'm up to 5 mile runs now, which is something I never thought I could ever do!
  • Endomondo is the best. I love everything about it. It's all GPS enabled, you can track routes, save routes, send pep talks, etc. LOVE IT!
  • I've got soy and almond in front of me now: Soy: Calories 80 fat: 2.5g fiber 0 sugars 7g protein 8g carbs 7g Almond: calories 90 fat 2.5 g (same as soy) fiber 1g sugar 15g protein 1g carbs 16g all the other vites and minerals are comparable for the most part. It just depends on what brand you buy. The ones I compared are…
  • Either one. If you put it in a smoothie, you don't really taste it anyway. Some people avoid soy due to its hormonal properties or because they're afraid of GMO (most of the soy milks I've used are labeled non-GMO so I don't really think that is a problem). I'm vegan, so I don't use cow milk at all. I buy whatever I have a…
  • I do 1200 a day, too. Since I've gone vegan, it's pretty easy to hold myself to this.
  • Cheese is very high in calories, super salty, and full of artery-clogging fat...in comparison to a serving of pasta, or bread, or rice which is none of those things.
  • That's why I've been able to keep my cals so low! lol Plant based foods are a lot lighter on the calories than animal based ones (and more filling, in my experience...hence the "my holy grail" reference :) What does my protein intake have to do with the probability that the weight I've lost is fat or water weight?…
  • Considering it's only been a week and I've lost that much without exercising, I'd say it is. I'm not hungry throughout the day, my energy is much greater, and I just feel great. Every other plan I've ever tried left me hungry all day long between my meals-not this time.
  • I don't think it's carbs that are a diet danger...it's what you typically eat with those carbs. Think about it...Pizza: the cheese is bad, not the crust. Sandwhiches: the cheese or mayo or crappy processed meat, not the bread. Pasta: fatty meat and/or cheesey buttery sauces, not the pasta itself. I could go on and on...…
  • I think people aren't downing those on welfare legitimately, but let's face it MANY MANY MANY people on it are abusing the system. Those wasted dollars should be going toward bus service. Go work at a grocery store and you'll get a feel for how many of your fellow Americans you are supporting with your tax dollars. See…

  • I think I'm going to do the 5 day inferno plan as well. I need to kick this off right! lol I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow....
  • I got mine in April, but haven't stayed on it yet...I start, go 2 weeks, and end up getting sidetracked. I'll start with you! I need someone to keep me on track.
  • I log it in as dancing, general. I just logged in 60 minutes of it and MFP said I burned 413. MUCH more fun than burning 413 on the treadmill :) I LOVE this game!
  • I think articles like this are silly. Neither one of those items are bad for you, and the things they offer in place are usually more expensive. Iceberg is good and cheap and it fills me up for less. Keep eating these foods as long as you want....I think they just look for goofy stuff to print to change things up...one…
  • No, not at all. I think I'm right. McDonald's did it voluntarily as a response to people wanting to know which options were healthier. Many restaurants have the info posted, and not because some elected official told them to do so. I didn't say it would happen overnight, but it would happen eventually. Until then, use…
  • It's mandated, but it didn't need to be. You are missing the point. If enough people want and ask for nutrition info, the companies will do it so they don't lose business. This would have happened with food we see in the grocery store on its own. It didn't need to be mandated by gov't for it to happen. Companies do what…
