  • Seeing as I'm back here again, thought I'd rehash my initial introduction. Since I left last, I maintained my weight at around 193 for about 18 months which was quite good and without much effort. However over the last 3 months have put on 8lbs and crept back over the 200lb mark thus, I have decided to make a concerted…
  • I'm up for it. Did my first half marathon in August (2hrs 21) following a dip in training due to pressures of work. No such excuses now, and next half planned for April next year - aiming for 2hrs.. Good luck all!
  • Welcome and good luck. Your willpower is your geatest tool!
  • Think my picture says how much I like a beer - that was straight after a half marathon. Seriously though, my recent weight gain has been due to an increase in my beer consumption. Having realised that, I'm back on the water! During my first weight loss burst, I found replacing beer with vodka worked wonders for the weight…

  • Warning was too late :) Have stuck 8lbs back on, since August, having maintained a 'happy weight' for about 18 months. Fitness not an issue as can still train to the level I was, just falling back into bad habits (mainly lager based!). Snapping back into it having crept back over the 200lb mark over the weekend - dont want…
  • Hi all Think I have hit another plateau, (190) - can get 3 below to 3 above on any given day. Problem is motivation is waning slightly - hence typing it up on here to try and get myself going again. Still cycling 3-4 days a week, but have cut back on using the x-trainer on the other days so much. Keep finding other things…
  • Afternoon all Been away frm here for a while - too much footie on the telly, too much beer in the fridge, but seeing as the world cup is practically over, its time to concentrate again. The good thing is that during the last three weeks, my weight has stayed pretty static (actually dropped a lb - HTF does that work?).…
  • Nah, the clue is in the name, FOOTball, not PICKITUPANDTHROWITball .....
  • There's me opening this topic like a fool, thinking it would be about proper Football ............... :embarassed:
  • Snap. Last month I was stuck at 196. Really stuck. Kept doing the right things, an as I said above, I have now dipped as far as 189, but have levelled to a consistent 191. Onwards and Downwards :)
  • Not a Friday weigh in, but my Saturday one was 191. Not quite as good as the 189 it was in the week but now that I've seen it on the scales, I know I can do it. To all those non-runners starting at the mo, keep it up. I only started in Feb, but am running 5m at least twice a week, on top of my 12m cycle to work (on 3 days…
  • Hurrah Not going to post it as my weight yet, as I want a few days for it to settle, but have just weighed in at 188.8, my lowest for, well, a while! As my previous weigh in was 193, I'm hoping it will settle around the 190 mark  Anyhows, keep going fellas

  • Well done Simon. I only started running in February, and since then I have gone from 11min miles down to 9 min miles - although I still really struggle. I am doing 5m at least twice a week, and a few weeks ago, like yourself, found myself able to just kepp going, on that occaision I got to 9m before I had to stop, but felt…
  • Morning all... up for this challenge.. 5'10, currently 193lbs, target for 4 July, 185, which will clearly be nigh on impossible as alcohol consumption during the World Cup is going to greatly increase  Was posting on the 'old' new thread, and it is now clear why I was getting few responses, thought you lot across the…
  • I do both - I bike 6 miles each way to the train station 3 times a week, and try to run at least once a week, although the last couple have been a bit lapse... The other good thing I've found with it, is that it lets you know when it has *locked* on to you, thus you can start your run knowing that you are being tracked.…

  • www.endomondo,com Sorry I've found it a really helpful tool for recording runs/ bike rides I have done - calculates your calorie burn / pace/ distance, allows you to set challenges for yourself and friends. But mainly I use it to 'compete' against my own pb times. When other people join, you can see there runs etc which…

  • Thanks for those responses peeps, I was beginning to feel a little neurotic about it. I think at the moment it helps to 'see' the impact of my excersize and diet, and so long as kept in perspective ie. I know it will fluctuate, then I will continue. I also worked on the three mornings the same weight meaning that I've…
  • Hi, Hampshire / Surrey borders here :)
  • Thanks for the welcome - have just started breaking up my routine, instead of 40 mins in one hit, have split it into 3, and am doing light weight reps and sit ups in between. What's really cool, is despite hitting this mini wall, I can see huge difference in how I was to how I look now.
  • I can see that I have been :) - quite happy at the moment, I can see the difference the last 3 months has made.
  • Thanks for the tips. On days when I'm using the cross trainer, I have stopped doing the 40mins straight, but have instead chopping it into 3 blocks, and doing weights/ sit ups in the gaps. Have also varied the programs I am doing. First result is that I'm managing more 'calories burned' (subjective I know, but a good…
  • Newby here, looking to get over a wall I seem to have hit. Started dieting/ exercise back on 17 Jan when my SW was 219 and the missus brought a cross trainer for us. Since then set myself tiny goals - lose 10lbs - acheived by 6 Feb, from there, lose 4lb (to make a stone) - acheived 22 Feb, then get to 200lb, acheived 13…

  • Welcome back - and as was said aboe, dont feel bad. I lost 40lb about 5 years ago, and am now back to square one... have come on here to try and re-invigorate my weight loss over the previous few months which seems to have stalled!
  • Thanks for that. I thought that by mixing the cycling, running and cross trainer I was getting the variation, but I was conscious that they were all similar cardio workouts. I will try and throw in a few other bits over the next few weeks and see how it goes. Thanks again.
