  • Hi people, I have had bipolar 2 for half my life (I'm 36) but only diagnosed 10 years ago. I've got good meds and I'm relatively stable but I do get hungry from my meds. I'm currently 93.1 kg and my first goal is to get below 90

  • Check your vitamin D too. Low vit D can make you tired too. And thyroid. Sleep is really important for weight loss so try to get enough - hard with a little one.
  • Went for a walk in the rain and only ate one chocolate wafer biscuit.
  • Try bio oil for the stretch marks. But what the others say: you need to learn to love yourself is also true.
  • You might have a flabbier looking tummy after exercise cos the muscles are tired and not holding themselves as tightly as before the exercise. Look at athletes after they've raced (particularly swimmers). You can't control how other people act towards you so stop trying to.
  • You slipped up. That happens, don't beat yourself up over it. The important thing is that you move on from it and get back to eating at a loss. It's a problem when today's slip up leads to months of crappy eating. It's great you can understand why you did what you did so maybe next time you can stop before buying it and…
  • I take metformin as an appetite suppressant because my antidepressants caused an insane hunger. It's an off label use but psychiatrists do it all the time. It's been a lifesaver. I've gone from putting on weight to losing a kilo a week.
  • What changed for you to be able to put on weight? I have a friend with an eating disorder and would love for her to get better.
  • It's really great that you have been able to put on some weight. I hope you are really enjoying your new healthier body.
  • Hormones do funny things post partum so that might not be helping. If you are breast feeding you should be eating more than 1000 cal. Are you weighing and logging every bite that you eat. Cos otherwise you may be eating more than you realise.
  • Sorry this forum is not very active. Welcome to mfp. It sounds like you have had a tough life. I'm glad you've been making progress with your PTSD and schitzoaffective disorder. Best of luck with your weight gain.
  • Hi I also have bipolar. I'm 35 and a mum of a gorgeous little boy. I'm on Abilfy, allegron and lexapro. When I started lexapro I was always hungry and put on 20 kg through binge eating. Now I'm on metformin as an appetite suppressant and I'm losing weight again. I was diagnosed in 2006 after being misdiagnosed as major…
  • This is a serious thing and it does affect your health now and in the future. Please try to find an additional therapist to deal with this. Try to identify what makes you feel like purging. Are you over restricting food also?
  • Winter: Skim milk Weetbix Low fat yogurt Frozen berries Zucchini Broccoli Carrots Light cream cheese Tuna Chicken breast Extra lean mince Summer: Add salad leaves, tomato, celery and cucumber. Edited to add seasonal fruit!!!
  • Doesn't sound like a bad thing! Part of the large initial weight loss that you often get when starting a diet is fluid loss because you are eating healthier food so less bloating. I also find that I can lose a couple of kilos at certain times of the month again from fluid fluctuations. When you have a reasonably large…
  • You've only got 14 lb left to go so you have to take it more slowly. Set your goal to losing less per week and you'll have more calories to eat each day. Also make sure you have sufficient protein to maintain muscle mass.
  • I lost 37 lb (17kg) and then gained 44lb (20 kg) back in a few months. Back on mfp now and determined to make it stick. Also got a pedometer and I'm aiming for 8000-10000 steps per day. Friend me if you like :)
  • I've just bought myself a simple pedometer cos my phone doesn't work with fitbit and I aim for 8000 - 10000 steps per day. Much cheaper than fitbit. Good luck with your diet. Hope you get a good response from it
  • Like the others say LOG EVERYTHING ACCURATELY. Measure/ weigh your food, add each ingredient rather than taking someone else's recipe when you cook things from scratch. How much are you moving? If you've got your setting at lightly active that's approx 7000 steps per day. Measure your waist hips and anything thing else…
  • Are you weighing/ measuring food and logging everything? Don't worry about eating clean just eat food that fits into your calories and still fills you up which it sounds like you are doing. Also get enough sleep. It helps you to lose weight due to decreased cortisol production. How long has this plateau been going for? I…
  • At your weight and height I would recommend a much higher daily calorie through the week. Maybe set mfp to loosing .2-.5 kilo cause you are close to your goal. I find if I restrict to much I tend to binge and that can lead to massive weight gain and lack of motivation. Eating disorders are serious things so if you are…
  • I think no 6 is really important. You don't want to put loads back on and have to re lose it. I did that recently and put back on 10 kilos not good. For me I think logging is necessary. Other options are partially logging food: logging 6 days a week and having a logging free day. If that works well you could go to a…
  • It's really hard when you don't have work/ study to distract you from food. But you can do it. Get as active as you can manage. Start small, walking 15 min then increase the time and intensity as you get fitter. Spend time looking up healthy recipes and take time to plan and prepare your food. Track your exercise and let…
  • Great post by crepes. One thing struck me from the OP. You said you only know how to starve or binge. Maybe you could try eating at maintenance logging everything for a bit to try to get a bit of normalty.
  • Maybe try to change your night time routine. Make sure you're not getting to hungry or restricting too much and if you need to empty your kitchen of trigger foods. You can do this.
  • Hugs It's hard. You're not alone in any of it. Especially the guilt and hatred. Try not to think about the result of overeating. Accept that you made a mistake and move on, try to stop beating yourself up for it. Are you hungry all the time? Are you restricting too much? I get out of control with binging when I'm trying to…
  • Are you hungrier since you began taking it. I got really hungry on lexapro so my doc prescribed metformin as an appetite suppressant. It's working well. Otherwise check your thyroid.
  • Added We can do this!!!'
  • I'm starting over again too. Would love some friends :) I'm Aussie so it's winter here and lots of yummy hot filling foods about. A bit about me: I'm 35, mother of a little boy. I struggle with binge eating, bipolar disorder and medications that make you feel hungry.
