  • I have only lost 28 lbs (8 lbs before MFP) but.... - I went 12 weeks with no desserts/candy, and now when I eat them, I eat one bite and I'm satisfied. I made a peanut butter ball (normal size) last 3 days. - All of the pants that fit tightly in May are now baggy, and all the pants that I couldn't fit into now fit…
  • I have given up all sweets (candy and desserts) and sleeping in (so I get my butt out the door to run before work everyday. Sugar has always been my biggest vice and the main cause for my weight gain in college. I know that a lot of people think that planned treats are best, and if that works for you then go for it, but…
  • I grew up in Dothan, go to school in Bham, and my parents live in the Huntsville area now, so I'm from the whole state. Lol! Oh and ROLL TIDE!
  • I don't know if this is true, but I have heard about these twins from a few sources. In a town close by to where I grew up, there were these twin boys named "Orangejello" and "Lemonjello" - Pronounced Or-ahn-gelo (like Michaelangelo) and Leh-mahn-gelo... but they spelled their names Orange jello and Lemon jello. I knew…
  • Haha... I'm sorry, but this is to funny. I have done things like this myself... terrifying results
  • I was weary of weight training at first, but I did Chalean Extreme, and I love it now. With resistance traing, the weight you lose is almost all fat. Also, it helps shape up your body and tighten your skin as you lose weight. It's actually good to build muscle in the beginning as it helps increase your blood flow and…
  • There is even a schedule for a ChaLean Extreme and Turbo Fire Hybrid that comes with Turbo Fire.
  • My dad always said that he knew he needed to lose weight when his aunts told him that he looked healthy.
  • 5 and fewer reps build strength. 15 or more reps build endurance. Anywhere in between provides a mixture of both. You should mix up what you do, and pick a weight that causes you to fail on or around the last rep. It will take some experimenting to figure out.
  • I agree, the important thing is being in better shape and losing inches. I think everyone's body reacts differently to the changes we make, and it just takes more time for that to show on the scale for some people. Keep at it!

  • NSV is a Non-Scale Victory. Don't worry, It took me forever to figure out what it was.

  • This happens to me too, but I have found that the more regularly I run, the better it gets. I think that when you run, it just shakes everything out of you, but if you keep it up, eventually there won't be too much extra. It'll still happen, but it won't be as bad or as frequent.
  • I like Ruby Tuesday because they list calories for their Fit 'n Fresh options (with sides), they offer low cal sides like grilled asparagus and spaghetti squash, and they have a great salad bar that always fills me up so that I can only eat half of my meal anyway.
  • Age: 20 Sex: F Height 5'8" Weight: 182 Body Fat %: 24.8% (based on caliper) 31% based on Navy method - This measurment is off because of my hip measurement, which is 42" I have virtually no fat on my hips, but they are naturally wide and my butt is big (but very muscular - i was built with a very round posterior) and even…
  • Sometimes the results aren't obvious until the second hald of your weight loss. The farther "in" you go, the more you'll see it. If your clothes are loose, you've made progress! If you took before measurements, you should take your measurements again and see how it all adds up. You're doing great! Just keep at it!
  • I gave up all soda and french fries. I was playing around with Value meals on Burger King's website, and saw that by replacing a SMALL fries and a SMALL soda with a bottle of water and a garden salad, you cut a Whopper Jr. Value meal from 870 calories to 410!!!! Never eating french fries again. Also, if you cut out mayo…
  • Sometimes when I run in the morning, especially on hot and humid summer days, haven't eaten breakfast, chug water too quickly afterwards, and quickly jump into a very hot and steamy shower this happens to me. I actually had to pull the car over on the highway one morning on the way to work to throw up on the side of the…
  • I added potassium as one of the nutrient that I see in my food diary. When I did, I realized I was way under the needed levels. I've always been this way, and never knew how to fix it because I don't like banana's. I started drinking 1-2 cups of skim milk a day and a plain baked potato because they are rich in potassium.…
  • You have to burn 3500 Calories in order to lose one pound. If you burn 500 Calories/day you'll lose one lb a week. This is a very good pace to lose weight if you want to keep it off long term. Also, if you lose more than two pounds a week you are losing lean muscle mass and glycogen stores. Give your body time to adjust.…
  • I agree. My dad is a lifetime runner, and a few years ago he couldn't breathe while running, so he went to the doctor to get it checked out. He ended up having pulmonary embolisms. You probably don't have that, but it would be better to get this checked out because it could be a dangerous health condition.
  • HIIT works by shaking your body up. The calorie counter on the bike is only accounting for the calories burned actually doing what you are doing - not for the changes your body has to make in order to keep up with the rapid changes. Also, a lot of the benefits of HIIT involve an increased afterburn effect, and the bike…
  • Mine is just under 25% Kashi GoLean Truly Vanilla with a spoonful of non fat greek yogurt and a handful of raspberries. I have it with a glass of milk. Comes in just under 300 calories. Sometimes I'll add an apple.
  • That depends. Your treadmill accounts for the intensity of your exercise, but MFP accounts for your weight. If you treadmill accounts for your weight, I would use that number. If not, it still probably isn't a big enough difference to triple your calories lost. My guess is that you treadmill number is closer than MFP…
  • You have to sip water slowly over a period of time. If there is a long drought, and all of a sudden it rains hard for 20 minutes, the water will just run off the top because the ground is so rigid. If it rains slowly and steadily for a few hours, it will have time to soak in and make the soil moist again. Your cells work…
  • People who drink 2 glasses of water 20 minutes before a meal are shown to eat 15-20% fewer calories at the meal. You'll feel fuller and better once you cut out the soda. Just start by replacing one soda a day with a glass of water and increase water/decrease soda&tea each week. Eventually it'll be normal for you.
  • Go to chik-fil-a's website, or any fast food place for that matter. Look at their different options, and see the calorie count. Write down 2 or 3 options in a calorie count that you want to stay in for any places you frequent. It's good ahead to have that info planned out because you never know when you'll need to stop for…
  • Get your caffeine intake from coffee or tea. Iced tea with lemon (or if you are from the south like me, "unsweet tea") is a great replacement for a soda if you are getting fast food, and it still has caffeine in it, so you don't have to deal with withdrawals. I personally like hot tea without sweetener, but it's not for…
