  • I worked in two coffee shops today and didn't drink coffee at all (usually with extra cream)! There's 150+ calories more that I don't have to work off...
  • I was stressed and almost went out for fast food. I took a moment to reflect on why I wanted to eat it (not because it's good, but because it would take my mind off of unpleasant emotions). I resisted, drank water, and continue to "sit" with my thoughts. In the end, I actually was hungry and chose something much healthier…
  • I don't dislike fruit, but it's definitely not my favorite thing (overall). If I had to choose between veggies and fruit, I would usually choose the former, with a few exceptions----blackberries, blueberries, (good & sweet) strawberries, and melons.
  • It's a Chia Pet!
  • Hi! I'm 28 and I have about 20-25lbs to lose. (I gained all of it when I began grad. school 4yrs ago.) This is THE YEAR that I WILL get rid of it! I've been on MFP for a while, but I've been on/off. I'm really going to do my best to stick with it until I lose it all (and hopefully beyond that for a good while)... Feel free…
  • Hi! I'm 28 as well, and I have about 20-25lbs to lose. (I gained all of it when I began grad. school 4yrs ago.) This is THE YEAR that I WILL get rid of it! I've been on MFP for a while, but I've been on/off. I'm really going to do my best to stick with it until I lose it all (and hopefully beyond that for a good while)...…
  • nice work! i can see a pretty big difference even between weeks 1 and 4. keep it up! taking pics is an excellent way to stay motivated.
  • Hi, I'm almost 5'7" and currently 189. My highest weight was 200#. Feel free to add me. Best wishes on your journey!
  • I hear your frustration, but (like many others have said) YOU ARE DOING GREAT! I am in the same boat. This summer, I lost about 14 lbs in 3 months. About half of that was lost in the first month with insane amounts of exercise. What happened at the end of the day? Half of the 14lbs came back quickly once I cut the extreme…
  • I can't do a cartwheel either :(
  • Have you tried the Reynolds turkey bags? I made the most juicy, yummy turkey EVER in one of those. Check it out if you haven't! http://www.reynoldsovenbags.com/turkey-central.aspx
  • I've noticed only slight discrepancies between MFP and my Polar HRM. MFP is estimating a little more than my HRM (so today I entered 59 minutes to get the calories to match, instead of the actual 63 mins). Still, at 800+ calories, both seem a bit high to me...I'm only going to "eat back" about 75% of my running calories to…
  • Hey! Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the challenges much this week. However, I did eliminate caffeine for two days. By the third day, I was like "WHERE"S MY STARBUCKS!!!!" I'm going to try cutting coffee this week, all week. And, I'll print out the challenges and post them on my fridge so that I'll see them…
  • I'm so late! I was on vacation on January 1, and I forgot about this until I was reminded today. So my "Jan 1" weight is actually my Jan. 6 weight... SW - 191.0 lbs (Friday Jan 6) Week 1 - xxx lbs (Sunday Jan 8 ) Week 2 - xxx lbs (Sunday Jan 15) Week 3 - xxx lbs (Sunday Jan 22) Week 4 - xxx lbs (Sunday Jan 29) Total lost -…
  • Oh---and going "outside of the box" with breakfast also helps me to fill up... There's no rule against eating salad, steamed veggies, or raw veggies for breakfast! All of these options fill you up with plenty of fiber, water, and vitamins without the calorie density that other filling foods have.
  • If you like hard boiled eggs, you could boil some in advance. They last a couple of days in the refrigerator. I also like to drink unsweetened soy milk; it's thicker than skim milk, which may help your satiety. Best wishes!
  • Hi! I'm Faith. I've been on MFP for a while (on and off), but I've recently recommitted to sticking to this until I lose my "freshman 25." While I jokingly call my excess weight my "freshman 25," I actually gained this amount since I started grad. school in the Fall of 2008; I was about 173 back then and hit 200 this…
  • I'm in! It's time for me to take this weight loss thing seriously!
  • I'm in! It's a real challenge to not GAIN weight during this time of year, so I'm really looking forward to having support to LOSE weight during this period. WE CAN DO IT!
  • why does this matter so much? why can't people accept others' decisions to be unique and do whatever they want? the "most common/traditional" or "standard" way of spelling a name is usually considered the "best" by ethnocentric people. the problem i see is that many white Americans are terribly dismissive of trying to…
  • and by "classic" you mean Eurocentric. the problem here is that (unfortunately) people discriminate against others based on their names in the job market (there have been several studies to demonstrate that employers prefer "classic" Eurocentric names), when unfortunately people have no control over what their parents…
  • I've learned that I have to set weight limits for myself, constantly monitor my progress, and quickly adapt my life to stay at my goal weight. About a year ago I promised myself that I would NEVER go over 190 lbs...Lo and behold, when I joined MFP in May, I weighed 200 lbs. How did that happen? I didn't take my goal…
