This Friday, I have the flu but should be good by then. :)
-
Haven't ran for two days. Just my luck, caught the flu 8 days before the half marathon. :| :| Will have to miss my last long run as well, hopefully the extra rest helps me.

Well I have managed to run/walk my way through my long Runs in a very hot Summer. Thank you to everyone for the advice! Temps are down to around 25c (77f) when I go out now so still not great, but definitely better! Half Marathon in 2 weeks, still warm for racing but I feel somewhat prepared.

Well done everyone, it is very had to keep up with this thread. I don't comment much but always read and react. I had my biggest month yet at 181.5kms!
-
Wow, that is insane...100k. Congratulations, massive accomplishment!!!
-
Finally some beautiful weather for a run. Down to 28c (82f) at 6am. Really enjoyable 7k this morning, very grateful for the reprieve from the humidity ☺
-
Hoping the weather cools down here soon, the humidity is insane!! Hoping to do nearly all of my runs outside this month, but it is tough!! Have a half kilomarathon (13.1k) at the Westin Golf Club Abu Dhabi Oct 27 on the way to the was to the Yas Island half marathon Nov 17. Have a feeling I will really enjoy this running…
-
Good luck!! Let us know how you go, enjoy

6k race done on Friday 34.51. Thank god it was inside. This heat and humidity is really annoying!! I think I should have been able to go faster. My mental game really sucks..I used to be able to push myself so hard (pre injury and weight gain) Really need to work on it before my next race in a couple of weeks.

1000kms for the year done! 6k indoor race tomorrow to mark the start of the running season and then I will start officially training for my first ever Marathon.
-
Holy humidity!! 10k this morning 32 c (90f) 100% humidity. So humid I could not see more than 15 metres in front of me!! Had to have a few walk breaks, it was tough!! Week 1 of half marathon training down!!
-
Oops new month!
-
Nice 5k this morning. Still 32C but it is starting to feel cooler. 133k so far this month with nearly all my runs outside. Starting to get my confidence back
-
Horrible 12k this morning, 33c and 20klm winds. Had to add some walk breaks. It's funny how treadmill running would be so much easier but I still prefer to put myself through the pain of running outside.
-
New to this group and just joined the Strava group too. Struggling through a long hot UAE summer and need all the inspiration I can get!
-
Thank you, I am feeling more confident about this now!
-
Good lord 177 laps, that sounds as bad as the treadmill!! Ok I think I need to be used to the heat for some upcoming races so run/walk outside it is. Will stick to the treddy for speedwork. Thank you for your input ☺
-
Forgot to mention that I have just returned to Dubai after some lovely Australian winter weather so the heat is tough! I am currently only doing 5k runs once per week outside, long runs and speed workouts on the treadmill. So I would be using walk breaks to build mileage in the heat.
-
Yep, went from couch to 5k to 10k to half marathon in 6 months. Just take it slow, you can do it!! Amazing program, when I started I could not run at all and was obese. It took me 9 weeks to finish the program but when I did there was no stopping me.

I am, I live on the Northside in Redcliffe. Which half are you running, is it the twilight one in March?
-
You should be able to crack a 50 min 10k with that time, well done!!
-
Great job everyone!! I made it to the sub 50 minute 10k club this weekend with a time of 49.30. Super happy!!
-
Congratulations, what a great run! Well done for racing all the way to the finish line, I am usually dieing near the end, whatever the distance!
-
Congratulations!!
-
Congrats, well done!

-
Well done, great time too!

I am a dog walker. I walk between 10-15k per day. I run about 30k per week plus do a Jillian Michaels workout 4 days per week.
-
Wow, fantastic accomplishment! Well done!!

I followed Hal Higdons Intermediate training plans for a 5k in Nov, 10k in Dec and the Half in Feb. Just modified them slightly to fit the time frames.
