The work day went kind of sideways on me so I didn't get home as early as I hoped - and therefore decided not to go to the make-up hill workout group run. I did sort of the opposite of a speed workout, I slowly ran on pretty flat trails (one hill but I walked it) with my dog. The weather was cool so she was pretty game for most of it, but then was like a toddler who had constant excuses - I need to pee, wait I want to see this, can we go back now, and SQUIRREL! We walked/ran a total of 5.89 miles, with 4.19 of that running at various paces. It was a beautiful night and I got a run checked off my list and tired out the dog so it's all good.

8km walk / run. Walked/ran up Pats creek Trail with 2 of the ladies in our club. Then turned and burned downhill with 3 of the guys. The last km was a struggle as I started to get symptoms of leg cramps (Quad/Calf Stiffness-twinges) so pulled back on the pace. Was the first run of the week due to work conflicts .

I am the pale albino in our club. Even with all the running I do outside, walking, yard work etc. you can hardly see any tan line difference between the area below my running shorts and the part above the hem of the shorts. Some one has to be the White Elephant. All the guys and gals in the club have a good laugh - the funny part is my Knee Caps have a distinct Tan - like they stick out and shade the lower leg.7 -

Should have been a rest day today, but my colicky child a) needed a walk today and b) claims to want to go to barbell class tomorrow. She was much improved by the walk, and I had a pleasant time myself.2 -
I should probably know the answer to this...but are any of you awesome people in oregon??? I have over a week of trip time coming up... taking me across various points...and I had originally planned to run... but since that is off the table... I am finding my self trying to find decent gyms to drop in at.... and since I am used to small town "this is the only gym in town" .... places like bend and Portland are a bit overwhelming....
@MobyCarp - I am sorry that you have joined those of us sporting footwear accessories and not running... it is annoying enough to me... I can't even imagine the effect it has in your world. I hope you are back to it soon!

@MobyCarp love the kitty, hate that you're benched . I hope you are back to racing by October!
@juliet3455 I too am the trail group pale kid. All the other women could be St. Tropez models and my complexion can light dark spaces
My PT is a hilariously sweet lady who gave me this today- I think she both loves and hates that my volume keeps her in perpetual piriformal workload! At least she thinks I'm pretty runderful lol
Good run today, my quads are back to about 80% (really only feeling them on steep downhills). Had a discussion with my husband tonight that he might start running!!! Of course its his assertion that he can run waaaay faster marathon times than I do...I'mma just let him find out on his own haha! My oldest two girls already love to run, all we need is him and the baby and we'll be one of those crazy running families- yes!!!

Horrible 12k this morning, 33c and 20klm winds. Had to add some walk breaks. It's funny how treadmill running would be so much easier but I still prefer to put myself through the pain of running outside.6

I did it!! I made it through an entire tempo Thursday workout without having to stop because I was afraid I'd poo myself! Hallelujah!
And it was a beautiful day for a hard run. For comparison, Tuesday morning had been 70 degrees with a dew point of 71... YUCK. Today was 58 degrees with a dew point of 56... GORGEOUS. Made the 9 miles at tempo (+ warm up and cool down) feel amazing. Refreshing not to come home drenched head to toe in sweat for once! And since I didn't have to bail out with poopy problems, my running buddy and I ran the entire route together. I went at her marathon pace (which is only 20-30 seconds slower than my BQ pace which I may or may not aim for on Oct 8) but the long stretches of gradual uphill were not any easier at a slower pace!
I am definitely appreciating the extra rest day this week. I've had such good workouts so far (Sun, Tues, today) that I can tell it was desperately needed.
Upcoming Races:
Oct 8: Steamtown Marathon
Oct 22: Perfect 10 (10 Miler)
Nov 5: Princeton Half Marathon (pacer)

@MobyCarp - so, so, sorry. That sucks. I don't blame you for not being able to read about other people's run. You've been so helpful to everyone on here.

August Goal: Not die while ramping up running mileage and technicality during 100K training
Nominal mileage goal: 250 miles-> HAHAHA Yeah, Right, not gonna happen now
Today's notes: I got in another "track" workout today. After last week's 12x400 feeling so easy, I decided to up up my game a bit. Following a suggestion from @MobyCarp I ran 8x800 with 400 recovery today. Ran my mile warm up and then got into it. Splits for my 800s were:
3:42
3:36
3:35
3:34
3:34
3:35
3:35
3:32
My recovery periods were actually slightly shorter than my running intervals, an an average of about 15 seconds shorter. I know that the recovery is supposed to be about the same time as the interval, so I'll have to figure that out some.... the 4oom rest did seem to be about right though.
Some quick stats:
Total distance: 8 Miles
Total time: 1:18:13
Avg pace: Irrelevant but: 9:46
Avg HR: 151
Average interval split: 3:35
Avg Interval HR: 163
I still feel AMAZING after this run, so I'm thinking that the speed work, if nothing else, is at least making me feel better.
@kristinegift it lookes like you had a great fast day too, that's awesome!
Have a Runderful day everyone!

ETA I ate triple my calories yesterday. Running was easier. If there ever was an excuse to over eat... Maybe I can come up with a correlation: Calories / 62.5= extra kilometers to run (math+ runners brain = not real numbers).

@MobyCarp So sorry to hear about the injury! I will be praying for fast healing and send good vibes your way. We love having you around but I am sure we would all understand if you need time. We do love pictures of the kitty too. I bet she LOVES having you around to snuggle with. I know my doxie does when I take a breather.
So I know I am new and slow but had a great PR today. I ran 2 miles non-stop!!! OMG! I can't remember any time in the last 20+ years (since Navy) that I have done that. So excited. And it felt great. I did have to tell my brain and body about 3/4 of the way through that I am capable and could do it.
I also want to thank everyone for their motivation. Even when you are just posting about your own runs, PR's, challenges, you are inspiring and motivating others such as myself!!! Thank you!14 -

Had to share this laugh I got yesterday. Skip runs through the neighborhood next to the school for practice, they run passed my best friend's house. Yesterday my friend was outside with her 9 year old when they went by and he says "Mom I want to do Across the World like Skip". She said what? He said "you know I want to run Across the World". She said do you mean "Cross Country" I just cracked up.
“I'm glad I'm not the only one with hairy knees. ” @elise4270 OMG I just spit diet coke all over the place.
@girlinahat I’m with you, moments like that you can’t get back. Wow he sounds awesome.
@cburke8909 it’s cross country season, soon you’ll be tired of hearing about Skip ha ha
@katharmonic I’m dying reading your post of your workout with the pup. Ha ha sounds like when I take Macy, I call them sniff and runs.
@juliet3455 I laugh when my baseball mom friends show they tan line from shorts from sitting in the stand…I tell them oh please and pull up my shorts. Or better yet take off my socks I had to actually work for those lines. Ha ha
@allyphoe Skip was never colicky but evidently I was, my Mom would tell stories of her having to sit on the porch while screamed in the crib because nothing she would do would help me. Then the doctor said to give me goat milk instead of cow milk and that worked.
@jessicaMcB that is the most awesome shirt and looks wonderful on you. BTW you are a tiny thing I mean that in the nicest way. Can’t believe you have 3 kids. Ha ha let hubby find out for himself that you are “Run-der woman” while he’s trying to beat you.
@kristinegift great run – it was glorious here too, 60 degrees in August, hello awesome!
@ddmom0811 what do you have “cooler” weather for about 2 weeks. Nice run! I’m always amazed how many miles you get when you bike on the weekends. Just awesome.
Great track workout @MNLittleFinn
@amymoreorless nice run. I was watching the weather this morning looks like it’s gonna be a hurricane.
@stoshew71 the temp this morning was a wonderful gift wasn’t it?

HA! Love it! And glad it is not real at the same time!2 -
"possession of a fuel belt in a 5k" made me laugh out loud. There were a couple of guilty people at the one I ran at the weekend. Though for full disclosure, I should confess that I was also guilty of something on that list.4

@BruinsGal_91 it doesn't count as full disclosure if you don't tell us which one and send me a check
@elise4270 ha ha just in time for winter4 -
oh dear. I took my top off in my first HM at the first aid station and ran in just my sports bra. Nobody should have had to see that. I even asked someone to take a picture of me at one point and am mortified by what I see. Abdominal crunches and planks are the way forward.....
number 8 I see a lot of on my morning runs. It's mostly other females. One day I am going to go right up to them and put my face in their's and yell 'MORNING!!' at them. I may not speak so well in the morning, but I make sure I acknowledge people.

a good 3 mile morning run this morning. legs are NOW aching from weights on Tuesday, but I ran through it. My left calf is still being problematic, and there's the suspicion of shin splints, but I am choosing to blithely carry on. I am off hiking over the bank holiday long weekend) so there'll be no running so I think it'll be okay.
