  • Thank you, and as you stated these are the same suggestions that have been thrown around for years. That should be a red flag right there. Makes you wonder if they'll ever be implemented or will we be discussing this in another post a few years from now? Just because something is free doesn't excuse it from an criticism,…
  • You bring up another good point: inconsistency in how the user interface works. If you click on an item in your food log,you can modify it; move it to a different meal, change the amount, etc. Why can't you do this in recipes? Instead you have to delete the item, search for it, and re-add it, in order to change even a…
  • It is strange that it is very common for people to reply to this complaint by saying they mostly eat the same things. People who agree or disagree both say this. Have you ever wondered why that is, perhaps you've trained yourself to eat the same foods over and over to make it easier to log. I know I have. I was just…
  • I've been here for about two years and I came here the same way you did, though I had a Fitbit, that I've since lost (twice). I no longer have the fitbit though. Your experience sounds nearly the same as mine.
  • Okay, perhaps I should have said "allow me to bold using a toolbar icon..." but the meaning was clear. The lack of formatting controls for posts (and status updates) is something that could easily be fixed, in fact, it probably took more effort to not have it. I'm not a MFP hater, I just want to see it get better, and I…
  • I don't think you were being serious but you might be onto something there.
  • Either I'm too hard to please or most of you are just too easy ;) I'd seriously pay for a site that used asynchronous JavaScript and HTML 5 and had a well *maintained* database (as well as forums that would let me bold things instead of having to put asterisks around them) and was consistent and standardized. I'm looking…
  • Sorry, basically repeated you. I hadn't read your post before posting my reply that says basically the same thing. Actually, I could give them a ton of suggestions that would make entering foods far more efficient but they are probably already aware, though I don't know why they haven't done so yet. For example, I…
  • It would be nice if there were controls for that. Exclude User Contributed Items, Only List Raw Ingredients, etc.
  • Was just talking to one of the guys that works for SparkPeople on Google+ and gave his team a lot of insight into what I'd like to see. I've tried it before but found it a bit overwhelming and it feels like it is geared toward a different demographic (primarily women). He seemed to take my comments well and said he'd look…
  • Oh man, a lot of things. Recipes from several books I have, some even have nutrition information but the way the site is setup I can quick add calories but I can't quick add anything else. I can make recipes but it would be nice if I could just make a recipe that just contained the calories and macros and I didn't have to…
  • Yes, but then you don't get to track macros.
  • I had the exact same problem with level two, even the same knee. I eventually had to take a break since I was starting to limp and even ice was working anymore. I'm on the 2nd day of level 3 today and I actually prefer it more than the other two levels. It just feels more effective and doesn't require excellent…
  • Desiree, unless you are in ridiculously good shape and/or cheat a lot I know it is more than that. My HRM always comes out at about 250-290 calories for around 28 minutes. On level one, for the first few days it broke 300 but that was probably because I was so out of shape.
  • Agreed, I feel she really rushes through the stretching, especially at the end. Also, sometimes she just jumps right into the next exercise and other times she will pause for a few seconds. It is not at all consistent.
  • Killing me. My knees are taking a pounding and that is a problem. I've been doing the alternate exercise for the more high impact exercises but still I've had to pull out an ice pack for past couple of days. I can't do oblique twists very well and I can't do skaters and pendulum lunges with hammer curls at all. I think I…
  • I start level 2 today and I previewed it last night. It looks like the first set is going to be the hardest for me. Not because of it being physically demanding but because it requires a lot of balance and coordination. The jumping moves and skaters and walking pushups, etc. I'm just not flexible or coordinated enough for…
  • @SchizJophreni: That would be great feature for the DVD, play only the voices with no background music, then you can overlay whatever music you want.
  • 1 more day of L1 and Tuesday I'll be on L2. I'm kind of wishing I was there already. I think 10 days is too long to do the same workout. It gets old really fast. Maybe, a week would be better, or even 5 days.
  • Good info, thanks. It's true for me too, to a point anyway. I can't eat really salty chips or popcorn anymore. My son says I under salt everything even when I think I've made it too salty ( at least for my taste). Apparently, that just-right level must not be a static thing but entirely subjective, which means we can…
  • Great answer @roadie2000, couldn't have said it better myself.
  • Yes, but I can't help it. I like to cook and if there is one thing that really turns a blah dish into something amazing it is the proper amount of salt, however, that way of thinking goes entirely against any notion of reducing sodium intake. I just don't feel like I can be a proper cook if I put limits on salt but at the…
  • Yeah, thought as much. It didn't seem to pass the common sense smell test. That is why I hate it when they do that. I think often the goal is to push a different product on you and they want to eliminate any of its shortcomings beforehand. I'm not sure she had any ulterior motives and was being sincere, but she was…
  • Yes, there is a point in the level 1 workout where, even though it isn't yet over, you feel relieved because you know the worst of it is over. I'm not having nearly as much trouble with it now, mostly those first couple days were really hard. I've been using 5lb weights in all but a couple of the exercises though if it…
  • I did the same thing yesterday. I was tempted to watch level 2 but quickly got up and turned it off. I was afraid :) Actually, I probably will watch level 2 all the way through before doing it for the first time, just so I know what to expect. I kind of like Jillian, she scares me too, though in a good way ;)
  • I did better today, still not quite getting the bicycle crunches but it was easier today even after only one day. I'm not quite getting through all of the push-ups either but I'm getting closer. I have bad knees too so I know how you feel. The good thing about 30DS is that it goes by so quickly. Your workout is over almost…
  • @quirkytizzy - Great response, and I agree completely. It is a shame but that is the state of things. I'm only saying, that we shouldn't be satisfied with the status quo and we should strive for better more authoritative sources. I love the word "broscience", it is such an apt description of what we see so much of on MFP.…

  • The pithy attitude of your response is a big part of why I don't want to live on this planet anymore. You act as though I'm being completely unreasonable but, in fact, this is something that any population should expect, no demand, from their government but it is because of this attitude that we just have to take what we…

  • The problem, as I see it, is that there isn't' any authoritative source for this information. You can read about it and use calculators on 10 different sites and get 10 different explanations for calculations and how it all works. Also, you can't count on U.S. government nutrition information either. So where do you go? We…

  • Glad to know I'm not the only one. Congrats on getting it right today.
