Squats-flat or raised heels?
i don't normally wonder over to this side of mfp, hey how's it going? *smiles awkwardly* So what are the oppinions on doing squats in regards to raised or flat heels. Seems raised heals shifts the focus to the knees and allows for more depth in the squats. While flat feet shift the focus to the bum area and at least for me…

Fitbit adjustments
any one know what's going on here? The exercise adjustment for my Fitbit jumps up and down, I thought it was a Fitbit issue but it looks like mfp calorie burn keeps changing so the adjustment from the fit bit changes too. I have just been to the gym so I think the 1k adjustment is the correct one. Anyone able to explain…

Muscle gains=strength gains
i am sure it's clear why I had trouble googling an answer for this. Every result was a different work out plan. Anyway, is there a rough guideline etc to how much muscle gains increase amount lift able? Like say you gain a pound of muscle, can you tell how much more you should be able to lift? This is more out of curiosity…

Is it dxa or dexa?
So what's the feeling on dexa scans here? Accurate, reliable, useful? Had one done today and was a little surprised by the results. I hear they are meant to be the gold standard in body fat analysis, but does that mean it's accurate or just the most accurate?

How many is too many?
In just about every movie or TV show where someone is training physically for a fight, they seem to be shown eating/drinking like a half dozen raw eggs. How many eggs a week is too many? Is it lcl cholesterol that people are concerned about?

Protein: does it matter?
so I am sure this question gets asked a lot but I seem to find conflicting information. Does it matter when you eat protein? Say your trying to build or maintain muscles. Does it matter if you eat protein through out the day, say every 4 hours or eat it all at once. I keep seeing people suggest 20-30g with each meal etc…

Premium question
can anyone explain this? In premium (it's not in free is it and I just didn't notice?) it ranks foods by protein for example, so you can see which is highest. But I can't see how or where these numbers come from. I thought it would be if you ate noting but eggs here is the protein for that. Maybe I'm blind but I just can't…

Excess skin and crazy thoughts
feel free to just tell me no or your crazy this is just some out there thinking. So say your goal weight is 75 and you are likely to have excess skin. Does it make any sense for you to continue losing to 70 or even 65 and maintain it for a while, to I guess give your skin as much reason to tighten or shrink or what ever it…

BMI to body fat %
so I just came across this formula which seems to line up with the % from my scale for body fat %. Just wondering if it's accurate for others. Anyone mind calculating this and posting the result, along with what you think your body fat % actually is. Formula is 1.2xbmi + 0.23xage -5.4 for female and -16.2 for males. See my…

Forequarter chops etc
So I haven't really eaten many chops lately so this issue hasn't really come up. So with meat with bones like a chop the nutritional information is based on the meat. So to get an accurate measure I would have to weigh them before I eat them then the bones after? Is that right? Its just the calories for these chops seems…

DANGER the hidden calories lurking in your home
would that title be considered click bait? Anyway Do you log medicines? Count their calories? Should you? Last night when I was coughing so much I was on the verge of throwing up I was looking for cough syrup or something and thought I should log this in mfp. I didn't find any medicine and sucked on some lollies instead.…

Calories vs kilojoules
so this might be odd since I have had my Fitbit for months, but recently I thought I should change it to kilojoules instead of converting calories all the time. Apparently there is no option for this. I was just wondering which countries actually use kilojoules other than I think Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. So…

Negative adjustment issue
is it just me or is this a common issue? So had negative adjustments on for weeks, since I got a Fitbit. Today I synched the Fitbit etc and noticed in mfp that the adjustment was zero. First I thought, nice so far I have been exactly sedentary according to mfp. But the fit bit projection is say 10000 and mfp daily kj is…

Bound to be controversial
So... Healthy at every size I keep hearing and seeing people talk about being healthy while being fat, overweight or obese. I can inderstand being healthy while a bit fat but it seems fat and health have a negative correlation. So am I wrong in thinking that you can't be healthy while very over weight? It just seems…

Scale fat percentage
can anyone explain this. Also no need to post if all your going to say is scale are inaccurate etc So scales, they check your body fat % by electrical impedance since fat and muscle transmit electrify with different efficiency. So say I stand in a scale and it says I weigh 100kg with 30% body fat. Why if I move slightly or…
-
Fat vs LBM
ok so no need to mention scales are inaccurate etc I think everyone is aware that scales and just about every body fat measurements are inaccurate. So say you have a scale and it says your 25% fat meaning you have 75% LBM right? So say you lose 1kg of weight and according to the scale you lost 750g of fat and 250g of LBM.…

Warning-Chewing gum:The hidden calories
Hi Below is an email I received in 2012 which for some reason I remembered today and thought I would share. Who here chews gum? Who here logs the gum in their diary? Who here swallows their gum? This is aimed at you. The nutritional information for chewing gum is based on chewing not eating the gum. How many calories is…

Strength for beginners
mfp seems to be losing my message half way through typing so I will be blunt. Looking for a strength plan for beginner/overweight/weak people. Plans I see seem to suggest you have a bit of training or experience behind you. I have access to a barbell, Dumbbells, hand weights, easy curled bar, treadmill etc I was thinking…

How much is too much weight?
For a beginner/noob weight lifter, how much do you consider too much weight. My brother bought like a barbell and a few other things and 100kg worth of weight. Goal weight and slowing your loss
firstly are there any guidelines on what your weight loss should be as you near your goal. Seems generally accepted that as you reach your goal weight you should slow down your weightloss for several reasons. But at what point should you slow down. 5kg away, 15kg? What if your goal weight isn't a low healthy weight. Say…

Lean muscle lost
Hey Is there any sort of healthy range of lean body weight lost? My understanding is that losing 1kg won't be 1kg of fat, some muscle is lost. If you had accurate body fat percentage measurements you could work out how much fat and muscle was lost couldn't you? Is there a healthy or normal range of muscle lost? Say I was…
