Sprouts!
I recently started sprouting again. I made so many I am basically adding them to everything I eat. Raw with my salads, steamed with veggies or mixed into pasta sauce, etc., and fried with soy sauce for snacking. I really enjoy that earthly flavor, you can't really get it any other way. What are some of your favorite ways…

Avocado recipes?
Avocados were dirt cheap so I bought more than I can eat my usual ways. Anyone have any favorite recipes using avocado? Bonus points if it's freezable.... I enjoy this one, but I need more: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/252724/super-green-edamame-salad/

Heart Rate Chest Strap Recommendation?
Can anyone recommend a HRM chest strap? I have a Wahoo TICKR X and am nothing but disappointed in it. It eats through batteries monthly, the internal memory never worked reliably, and now it only works once or twice before I have to reseat the battery. Support has been helpful in suggesting I wash it. I've given up on it…

Cyclists: Do any of you 'train' on your commute?
I'm reading "The Time Crunched Cyclist", which has a training plan for people who commute to work. The sessions last 45 minutes, which is exactly the length of my commute. Basically, he adds in various timed intervals into your ride, the most frequent interval is 8 minutes long. Most of the intervals should be done on flat…

Thick lettuce?
All of the red and green leaf lettuce I've purchased since March has been very thick, more like cabbage. The strips I cut for tacos are more like uncooked spaghetti than lettuce. Anyone know why it's gone so thick? Or how I can find the more like how it used to be? I live in Seattle, Washington, not sure how regional this…

Watching TV while eating
I like to focus on my food. Eating is one of my most favorite activities and I'd really like to savor it. Plus, I think being mindful helps me with portion control. My bf prefers to watch TV with dinner. I didn't own a TV before living with him, so I am totally absorbed by it. We live in a small place and our only seating…

Exercise while sick?
They say to keep it up if you are sick from the neck up, and give it a rest if you are sick below the neck. Obviously, one should rest if they have the flu since it's literally killing people. Where do you draw the line? What if you are pretty sure you just have a common cold, but the flu is going around?

Valentine's edition: dating a cyclist
What do you think, is this true folks? My bf says yes... https://www.active.com/cycling/articles/how-to-date-a-cyclist?cmp=18N-PB2000-S20-T9-cycling-AR3&eps=title_519493

When lifestyle doesn't impact chronic disease
There is no end to studies that show how healthy lifestyles improve chronic diseases (high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, etc.) and how poor lifestyles (smoking, drinking, sedentary, fatty food, etc.) contribute to chronic disease. I keep looking for information on the outliers. Are there studies on those with chronic…

Really mfp, really?
Is Too Much Exercise as Bad as Not Enough? What do you all think of this article recently published in the mfp blog? http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/much-exercise-bad-not-enough/ Personally, I see it as another mainstream media attempt at making sure everyone in the world thinks they are doing life wrong. I get so sick of…

Cyclists: How much do you pay for an organized ride?
Do you consider the total cost when signing up for an organized ride or tour? If so, how do you decide if the price is right? I'm having sticker shock over a ride I want to do. It seems too expensive.....buuuuuut it's also been in my bucket list for years.

Whey powder as powdered milk sub?
Has anyone tried substituting whey protein powder in recipes that call for powdered milk? How did it turn out? I'm curious about throwing some in my homemade yogurt.

How to turn down food?
I have a hard time turning down food that's handed to me, especially if the giver is trying to be extra nice and I am in their home. I tend to eat it even if I don't want it, am full, and it doesn't even taste very good. I felt like I beat this issue recently, but in reality, it hasn't come up all that much. I was handed…

Cheap produce right now?
Is anyone else having really discounted produce right now? I'm in Seattle, and I just got 6 organic cucumbers at a corperate grocer for what 1 conventional cuke cost a month ago. I've never seen such a price difference. Just wondering what caused the excess and if anybody else is seeing this.

Help me pick a lifting routine!
I am looking for a 10-minute strength-building routine to do 3 times a week. I have dumbbells, a bench and a cable machine at my disposal. I want to focus on triceps, upper back/lats, hamstrings and anything else I can fit in 10 minutes. This is just to augment cardio and body-weight exercises I already do every day. I…

Lifespan of waterproof jackets?
Curious how much you all are getting out of your waterproof gear? My Showers Pass jacket is failing after just 4 seasons, and considering how well it worked in the beginning, I thought it would last longer. My Pearl Izumi jacket lasted just one season, and my Arc'Teryx jacket lasted 6 before failing (lifetime warranty is…

Thanksgiving Spaghetti
I get a kick out of cuisine mash-ups (think Thai burritos or Mexican pizza), so I decided to get creative with Thanksgiving leftovers. I made up my own recipe and it was so much fun I wanted to share it with someone. First I made cranberry "marinara"; sauced fresh cranberries, diced tomatoes, onions sautéed with coconut…

Social Media friends?
I'm curious how many sites you all have friends on? Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, whatever else and then the sport-specific mfp, Garmin, Strava, mapmyride, etc, etc. Do you have the same friends on each account, or different? Do you tend to post different or the same stuff?

Florida cyclists?
Looking for recommendations for organized rides or best road routes. I've never been to Florida and might visit Orlando the last week of March next year. Also, any general tips one should know about riding in Florida would be great.

cyclists: what indoor trainer app do you use?
I have a "smart" trainer (Tacx Flux) and I can't decide which app I want to train with this season. I'm wondering what the favorites are.

Creatine & Sugar?
I remember hearing somewhere that creatine is more efficiently absorbed when consumed with sugar (like juice), but can't remember where. Is that true?

Work/Life Balance?
How do you guys with families do it? Granted, I consciously chose not to live the “do too much” lifestyle pressed upon American women. I don’t think it’s healthy to feel stressed all the time, but now I feel like I am not doing enough. It seems like a lot of other people fit so much more into their lives than I do; people…

Any adult caretakers, assisted living, nursing home facility workers out there?
First off, thank you for what you do. I am seeking an opinion. I would like to extend a thank you to the staff of an assisted living facility that recently dealt with a trying and unusual circumstance with my mom. I'm wondering what a good thank you would be? What sort of things would say "thank you" to you? I ask because…

physiology lesson?
I am curious about the physiology of the body as it ages with regard to fitness. It's obvious 60-year old athlete can't perform at the same level as a 20-year athlete, but why? I've been attending various aerobic fitness classes for 20 years. I'm just as fit as I was 20 years ago (I could even argue more fit), but I simply…

Cyclists: Strava or MapMyRide?
Which do you use? I've been a free version MapMyRide user for years. Now I am looking for the paid version because I want to add heart rate data. Strava is much more expensive, but also seems easier to connect with others and seems to be a more popular choice. I've only tried it out a few times. What are your experiences?…

Relive of my century ride
https://www.relive.cc/view/g13408425769 Enjoy it before it expires! Also, here is the followup ride the next day (just couldn't get enough): https://www.relive.cc/view/g13408426995 This area will be in the path of totality this coming Monday, so it was fun to ride around and see the ads for $2000 camping spots.

BCAAs and/or electrolyte drink for syncope
I have syncope. I don't faint a lot, but one sure fire way to induce an episode is any sort of interval training. Electrolyte drink during the intervals helps me recover from diziness faster than water alone. I'm thinking of trying BCAAs but think I need electrolyte too. Is there a combo drink out there, or can anyone…

maximizing protein absorbtion?
I remembered hearing that only so much protein could be absorbed at a time, so I Googled "protein absorption rates" and found a whole ton of conflicting information. I have no idea what to focus on or what's true. I want every protein gram to count as much as possible and am trying to figure out how to time my intake.…

charity ride (Bike MS) confession...
I've been riding Bike MS for 16 years now. I'm one of the top 100 state fundraisers and have always made this my most important ride of the year. This year, for the first time ever, I am not feeling very enthusiastic about it. I'll go through the motions, ride the ride, and raise some money, but I wish I was more into it.…

"It's not about where you are, it's about how hard you try"- seeking motivational memes, etc.
I'm looking for motivational videos, songs, or memes to encourage exercise. When I joined a marathon training club, I ran really slow, weighted 200 lbs. and felt out of place. Then our coach said something about how we are all working just as hard- people who run a 5 minute mile push and train themselves just as hard as…
